this place (daytona) is all about the high hand promo's and that's what keeps them 'busy'. it goes both ways though because that just means there are that many more tables that your high hand has to hold against. I was pleasantly surprised that my aces full of kings held up. I also hear that they have good tournaments but I don't generally have a schedule that allows me to partake.

Club 52 is good but try to come on a Fri or Sat.. the other days is on the lighter side as far as # of tables but generally the tables have decent action.

I am not a terribly regular player - but I can tell you that Daytona is absolutely heads and shoulders better poker room than Club 52. 52 is filled with nothing but tight locals that have known each other since 5th grade!! Daytona during the time of these last few posts was probably fighting through the expansion down to Orange City.

One thing I will agree with is the food at Daytona is terrible - except the chx tenders and fries. That is the only thing I would ever get there. I read on anther thread that OC has great food. The folks that live there say it is being marketed as a true sports bar.

yeah my experience was only one visit and it was the weekend after the new room opened up so I'm sure that had something to do with the vibe/feel of the room that I got. Speaking about this with some of the dealers at Club 52 and they were saying that a vast majority of the dealers went to the new room and a large number of the staff at Daytona are as green as can be.

To your point about the regs at Club 52, it has merit. there are a large amount of regs that are extremely friendly with each other and have played several years together. That being said, I feel there is still decent action there and I am surprised how many new faces I tend to see being how it's more of a local stomping ground.

That being said, I get the "these regs know each other way too much" whenever I go to a new room. I think it just is what it is.

I agree nearly 100% with this post. The only thing I would add is that the spinach salad with chicken is decent, and the fruit cup is good because they don't load it up with honeydew melon.

Generally it goes like this..

Sunday +6pm, 1/2 tables of 1/2nl
Monday +6pm, 2/3 tables of 1/2nl
Tuesday +6pm, 4/6 tables of 1/2nl
Wed-thurs +6pm, 4/6 tables of 1/2nl..plo has been popping up lately too deeper into the work week/ weekend. It's what the 2/5 players are playing now. 1/2 nl table stakes game usually pops up later in the evening..2/5nl might have a table running.

This Saturday they're running a high hand promo (250 every 20 min)that will bring in a ton of action (35 tables running, multiple games). Besides the promo itself, I like that it really brings out the bad gamblers. In fact I've logged my two biggest wins during these monthly promos.

If you do happen to make it there on Saturday and you see a guy walking around with this shirt, feel free to say what's up.

Edit: pokeratlas is the app they use to see how busy they are and what games are running.

Hitting it up tonight through Sunday. $200 BI tourney for a seat into the WSOP Main on Friday. Not sure if one seat is guaranteed.

Going to grind 2/5 and see what happens.

Wednesday night I played until 4am and won $800. Thursday night I played until 4am and won $1100.

Took a $600 pot off of this serial killer looking guy that apparently has won 2 rings. Called a preflop raise with JT on the button and flopped top pair on a dry board. I put him on overs and I was right. I shoved the flop and he called. Never saw his cards. He was pissed and left the table shortly after.

I saw him with a 2k stack on Friday night though. I guess he killed it.

Overall a super soft game. The table talk, hand disclosure in multi way hands, is off the rails. The slow rolling and angling is also off the rails and the dealer does nothing about it.

It was pretty entertaining.

Noles, check your PMs.

So I was playing here last night in one of their Day 1's for some two day tournament they have going on right now and I(along with the other players remaining/two full tables) were pissed last night.

The structure is 10% moves on to day two and all day two players are in the money. The tourney started at 5:10 and after rebuys there was 53 total entrants.. so 5 players move on.

The night is going and we're down to two tables and go to break. During the break a couple of players were mentioning how this might go really late seeing how it was after 12, two tables, and 30 minutes blinds. When hearing this, I was not happy as I still had an hour+ drive home, but whatever, I would suck it up as I didn't really have a choice.

All the players come back from break and the tournament director says that if we are not down to 5 players by 3am then we would have to come back the following day at 11am to finish. Well everyone started to ***** (even the regulars) as it seemed like nearly everyone had to work the next day.

Don't understand why they wouldn't simply say that the remaining players had to return and play the same time that the other start times (5:10) had occurred (ie, return the following day at 5:10).

I was absolutely exhausted at this point.. played a few more hands and ended up busting after I pushed after completely miss reading my had (flop 9,7,7.. would have bet my kids I held Q9.. but no, I had Q8..got slow rolled by pocket 9s too, that was awesome!). I'm sure being exhausted was the primary reason for mis-remembering my hand, but I have think being tilted about the upcoming issue played a role as well.

anyways.. very unprofessional by the card room to expect the player pool to come back the next day when the doors open.. curious how it all played out. would be interesting if 6 players were left and 5 of them couldn't come back due to working or other obligations.

Does this room allow you to call in ahead and put your name on the list? Also is take still 10% up to $5? Thanks.

Unless it's changed, you can only call in for 5/5 or higher games, which Daytona does not have any of. Most players have moved to the Orange City location. Yes the rake is the same, plus $2 for jackpot every hand.

Why have most moved to Orange city? Closer to Orlando?

I don't play that much anymore but this was one of the reasons I never could figure out why they would open a room in Orange City. It's half the travel time to Daytona from Orlando and most of the player base comes from there I think given that neither Orlando nor the dog track in Sanford/Longwood have poker at all.

One big advantage that Daytona had over OC early on (besides dog racing) was that there were no tournaments (at all) in OC so if you wanted tourney action you still had to drive to Daytona. Maybe OC has tournaments now? I haven't played OC in over a year even though I live literally 5 minutes from it.

If that ballot initiative passes and the dog tracks get shut down (a very real possibility) then I can't see the Daytona room surviving. At that point, OC will have the same parimutuel options as Daytona along with a newer, nicer room, inarguably better food as Jake's at OC actually has cooks who know what they're doing, and better dealers to go with the convenience of OC over Daytona.

the main reason why OC opened up was because Daytona owned the licensing for a card room and it was going to expire if not used. Once that occurred anyone else could have came in and opened their own room. Because of Daytona/OC being ran by the same company/group, all of the high hands and other promo's (not sure about the bad beat) are shared between the two locations. which I hate.

I've heard that OC has recently became to run tourney's (within the past year).

Okay I guess that makes sense. I can see no other logical reason for them to cannibalize themselves like everyone at the time who wasn't in the know, like me, assumed they would do. There are even billboards along I-4 advertising OC as "Orlando's Closest Poker Room." Talk about competing against yourself!

FWIW I've always had a decent experience personally at Daytona, especially since they moved away from the speedway and into the newer facility. But I found OC to be much better and see no reason to go back to Daytona if OC has tourneys now.

Also +1 to the Melbourne room, I used to play there every year around this time, we'd always vacation in Cocoa over Memorial Day and drive down for a session and it was always a fun experience.

OC runs cheap Monday and Tuesday evening tournaments. The number of entrants seems to be increasing each week. I think last Tuesday's had more than 70 players.

False.

Pari Mutuel Licenses do not expire. If they did, no one can come in and open a room.

I could be wrong, it would seem that you created an account just to be right, so more power to ya.

I was told that this was the case by dealers that worked at Daytona, so if wrong, then that's the overall understanding among the staff.

The question of whether DBKC could open a satellite location in Orange City has been batted around since 2010, and went to the Florida Supreme Court in 2013. See http://www.news-journalonline.com/ar.../605078261/DN/.

The history of this license, in a nutshell: "The law would allow jai alai permit holders to convert dormant, or unused, permits into greyhound permits if they meet certain conditions. It also would allow greyhound permit holders to open card rooms at satellite facilities without live racing, again if certain conditions are met.
The Daytona Beach Kennel Club once operated a jai alai fronton, which closed in the early 1990s, but the club maintained the permit. Under the law, a jai alai permit could be converted in a county in which the state “has issued only two pari-mutuel permits” and only if the jai alai permit had not previously been converted from another class of permit and jai alai games had not been performed there for at least 10 years."

To finally open the room, they needed Orange City Council to approve, which finally happened in 2016. I haven't ever read anything stating that the permit they held was set to expire.

How's the cash game action up in DB while the bigger tournaments are going on? Down in OC, the HH jackpots seem to be what drives the casual traffic.

DB needs to get rid of the 2/4 limit games and make the lowest limit 3/6 all the reg would still play,They also need to make the 1/2/ nl buy in $300 max, But management seems not to care.and they give out 20 cent and hour to play as a comp. But the HH are worth going .

it was $300 years ago but all the regs whined until they got it lowered

same with the limit
it will never increase

this is a HH bonus room full of OMC short stackers
just hoping to hit a HH drink coffee and socialize.

games get a little better when the snowbirds come
and the big track events are in town
also night and weekend games see more action.

When the room opens how many will play 4 handed. Here are some questions i have. The 2/4 limit games will never happen with 4people.The 4/8omaha h/lwill also never happen with 4 or even 6 players. and im guessing the same with the 1/2 and 2/5nl games.so i guess when we get back to full tables it will be after the 1st of the year or later
