Given the structure, I don’t think it runs that late. I might play next week, not sure yet.

FYI it takes about 3 hours or more to get in the money.
I played the wednesday tournament at last month and got in to the final table .it was almost 12:30am,when I finished ( I got the second place.)
There were 215 entries at that time.so you need to leave enough time for the tournament if you are planning to get in the money.

I do love myself a KO tourney 8-)

I am thinking about spending a few days there over CNY. Not primarily for poker, but anyways, just wanted to know with the crazy new laws I heard about can you still buy in and cash out AUD cash as a foreigner?

It's 250 but hkd, so like 30 us. Singapore has crazy rake like capped at 75usd or something. Switzerland and France also have pretty crazy rake limits. Geneva has 5% capped at 50 sfr, like 60 usd

First thing you need to get a Crown rewards card. Depending on when you go, this could take 1-2 hours, so get this done ASAP and ideally not at a peak time if you don't want to line up for a long time. eg. Feb 9/10, especially at night, would be a very bad time to sign up for a card. You will need to set a spend/loss limit (I think this is only on slots and electronic machines, not table games). A friend of mine asked what the maximum is, and she said, yeah, put that down.

I don't play anything other than poker but I will ask some questions at a Rewards desk when I'm next at Crown (prob this Wed/Thu). I think they might only issue cheques for payouts of $1,000 and above, but I'm not sure. This is not the case for poker, at least not for <$10k (not sure about $10k+).

Poker less than $10K AUD no paper work or forms needed for cash in and cash out

As Kerr mentioned, you need to sign up for a free players rewards card to play and get on the list. Go off peak like during the day, and walk around to find an empty crown rewards desk.

You’ll need to show your passport to get a members card, but that’s as far as it goes.

The biggest regular game that gets up is the 5/10 which often has a $20 straddle.

It’s normally very soft, softer than Macau 50/100 for sure. Most of the good pros have stopped coming since COVID, but you may be seated with a shark or two with 6 figure+ Hendon mob. Games very beatable though

2/5 is the smallest game thst runs at peak times, and it is probably one of the weakest 2/5s you’ll ever find

Have fun and tell us how you enjoy it

Back when the poker room was managed better, they were active on social media, their website would display tournament results and live cash game lists (without names), and HendonMob would get updated.

I have no idea if the current state of affairs is due to incompetence or Royal Commission restrictions.

Do you have this info for the Sunday tournament?
Starts at 12, from what I’ve heard?
How many runners does it usually get?

You can also check the website of crown Melbourne as well.

Normally 90-120 entries on Sunday tournaments (500 dollars buy in )
160-225 entries on Wednesday (250 dollars buy in )

Saw a Blackjack screen rebooting last week. Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised it was running Windows 7 (end of support January 2020). Good on Crown for moving off Windows XP.

You would be surprised how much equipment on this planet runs on very old OSs. Also this is not too much of an issue as long as it is not connected to the internet

Poker area has 6 more tables for a total of 36. That should be good for tournaments not impacting on the number of cash tables that can run.

Think the room is good and it's an improvement from downstairs.

One thing I find hilarious from a business point is crown not giving reduction for short handled. Break every 3 hours let's say only 3-4 come back after break on time and other 4-5 are 10 mins late. If no reduction is given there is no incentive to play short handed as the rake is too absurd. Also raking preflop too. Yikes.

I love Melbourne as a city but Crown fkd you all hard here.

The 2024 AFL season starts today. The Crown Poker room has 8 tv screens, 5 are promoting the next tournament (Sunday), only the tv facing tables 4 and 6 is showing sport.

I've seen some of the OG pre-covid crushers back on the 5/10/20 tables lately, they weren't around much last year. Played in one of the worst games in years at Crown the other day (6 sharks + 1 OMC).

New short series got announced for start of April - they were announcing it yesterday in the room.

A couple turbos, PLO, and a freezeout all $550 buyins ($480+70)
Main event is $1500 buyin ($1300+200)

https://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/ca...n-poker-series

I hope they start using their facebook/twitter pages again to get the word out for it though. Asked the TD Sam for structures and got told they will be on the website soon.

Given how long the tournament break was, and the turnover of staff, I imagine few dealers know games other than Holden and Omaha.

Can you ask the TD if (and hopefully when) tournament results will be uploaded to Hendon Mob, and if the answer is “they won’t”, then why?
