Be aware the rake is 10% capped at $15, no tipping allowed.

1/2 aka NL80 will probably not be running during the Aussie Millions

Why would anyone bother playing 1/2, it's not beatable. Buy in is 40-80 and rake is 10% capped at $20!!!! lol

Yes, on 1/3 for sure, probably 4+ tables running but 1/2 is not beatable.

The 1/3 tables are really good value and so are the 2/4. The 5/5 and above are often tough and reg infested with a bunch of friends who soft play.

if there are 1/3 regs, they won't be any good in a room with 2/4 and 5/5 games running the whole time

Grinders don't play 1/3. It's Rec fish and a few reg recs.

Players don't play that game for living.

I've only ever played it twice. It's very beatable

Yeah I got stuck in Melbourne a Monday night not that long ago. Ended up deciding to play 1/3 most of the night, from about 2:30-5:20 and made about a buy in.

Never been a reg at Crown, but I've definitely put in my fair share of hours there over the years, at levels from 1/2, 2/3, 1/3, 2/4 and 2/5. The old 2/5 was brilliant, but by the sounds of it, the new 5/5 isn't equivalent. 2/4 is still juicy depending on the day/time/table, but what else is new?

I spent a couple of years playing for a living (home games and online) but 'retired' to pursue more fulfilling pursuits, and all I can do is re-iterate what someone else up there wrote, which is your number #1 enemy is the rake, and your #2 enemy is yourself. Skills come in to it, but there are million ways to skin a cat, so that stuff is honestly not as important as learning how not to melt down and how to check your ego.

Anyway, recently started playing 2/4 again at Crown after a long break and boy has the place changed. Rake's gone up by the look of it, and they charged me $3.70 for a teabag! Seems like it's still getting a lot of traffic, though that's probably because of the Millions. As for players, there are still enough fish and bad regs to make it worth your while. Mostly they just can't put you on an accurate range, and thus will make ridiculous calls and silly bets. Point is, the game is VERY beatable, but don't take my word for it, here's my graph going back probably 5 years (like I said, I don't play much there, and it starts at 15k coz I only kept a running total up to that point)

How has the 5/5 action been there since the Mirrions started?

Toughest game in the world the 5/5 at crown.
Im winning, but marginally so, perhaps $12.50 per hour.

its 5/5 optional $10 straddle which usually runs.. they also upped the BI to $1K so its a much better game than the 2/4 but the action can be hit or miss..

5/5 at crown is possibly the worst game ever, bunch of friends playing against each other and rarely give any action.

Let me guess, you think online poker is also rigged too? I would rate the chances of organised collusion to be almost as likely as space docking, considering these players struggle to match their hole cards to the board, let alone collude.
Sounds like you are a bitter 2/4 fish who could never move up...

You must be related to big fish. Do you think online poker is rigged too? And by action do you mean handjobs under the table or calling off aj ss when they 5bet shove after you 4bet because you are pot committed?

Ron the troll, I have a message for you. I played just over 1200 hours at Crown last year. Nearly 600 hours playing 5/5, the rest 2/4 and 1/2/5 PLO so I know what I'm talking about. I'm not saying there is collusion at Crown at 5/5 + but there is soft play where friends regularly check it down. It's common knowledge, so much so there are many locals would refuse to play the bigger games now when there are the 6 or so members of the Crown big boys club at the table. Yes, that's right, they even have a WhatsApp group called Crown Big Boys Club which they use in between hands to communicate with one another and share information on players. The 5/5 and above is often tough with very few fish, combine that with a rake of 10%,capped at $15!

It's interesting that you have just joined this forum yesterday and your first and only 2 posts have been troll like. You're not gonna last long on here.

In reference to your other reply in you second post, its plain for all of us to see, you are the hand job!

Whattt...

Moving to Melbourne for a semester of school in January and was hoping to get by without finding a job and just playing part-time at the Crown, but this is ridiculous. My hourly right now at 1/2 in Canada is more then double this for 2016...

What's your win rate at 2/4?

Rake doesn't seem too too bad for a 5/5 but I'm not liking the idea of the regs colluding...

Why wouldn't I last long? Im being deadly serious. I heard the whatsapp group was called fishies, not the crown big boys club, and even so what magical information can they share? I played 2000 hours of 5/5 and above, so what if there is checking down at times, how does this alter your hourly? Also I don't understand why rake is mentioned, when it's the same on the smaller games, wouldn't it be in your intersts to play bigger? Considering there are more fingers on my left hand than good regs at crown (had one finger amputated in a water skiing accident), do you mean tough games on 5/5, in the sense of having an ability to match the cards to the board?
