$5/$10 you see less often than a year or two ago but $5/$5 gets up regularly

I played the $5/5 $1500 cap a bunch during AM when I was down.

Anyone knows about OFC? I’ve seen it in the list a few times in my endeavours. Would be good to mix it up and play a night of it

Is it just me or is NLHE at Crown starting to die? There used to be a 5/10/20 running every night and multiple 5/5/10 tables, but nowadays the 10/20 is rare and even the 5/5 only runs a few nights a week. There used to be 10+ 2/5 tables running simultaneously on weekends, but now you're lucky to see 6 2/5 tables during peak hour. The only thing that's getting more action is 1/3 PLO and 1/3 NL. Thoughts?

During the week I only see 1 table running. A lot of action on the table tho.

True, it's not exciting to play there anymore. The whole atmosphere is getting very boring. I might get some hate from posting but I also find some dodgy behaviour from regulars on higher stakes and players think multiple times before taking a sit with them. I actually don't even see any action improvement on 1/3NL either.
I blame it all on the casino itself. Some dealers have been working there for some years and from their attitude you can tell they have been there for too long (this doesn't apply to poker only, some dealers are really dicks). New players on lower stakes refrain to play because of them actually.
Dont get me wrong there are some wonderful dealers but they are getting rare.

Also they should invest some money to upgrade the place. When was last time they renewed the room? or any other area of the casino in general?
Old dirty carpet and smelly rooms.I have recently been to Sydney and I was very impressed on how they renewed the room. Great looking place, great new tables with phone chargers and very comfortable chairs. (not to mention the new bar and the waitress with sexy dresses)

I am actually finding myself playing less and less. I am tired to see the same faces all the time.

You think the homegame scene is sucking a bunch of the action outta Crown?

Not sure about how much scene they are sucking but a lot of players are playing there, including dealers.

I'd say it's more the online ban than the home game scene.

I find myself giving way less of a **** about poker now that I can't play it online. Two or three years ago I was enthralled in the WSOP coverage but this year I couldn't care less. Especially when PokerGO is only showing like 15 final tables out of the 70 or so events...

Everyone I talked to at the outset of the ban thought it'd improve the live scene :/

lately I can see a boost of players.. maybe because there are running a lot of satellite tourneys for the Aussie Million. It has been pretty last couple of weeks.

The apps, the home games and the PLO continues to get more and more popular. I'm starting to see multiple PLO tables running daily.

But NLHE at Crown is starting to die. The 5/5+ games just aren't running enough. It's a real shame. I do agree that having bitter dealers with a poor attitude and showing zero lenience for novice players is very discouraging too. It deters recreational players and makes it so that only the regs who are familiar with the rules are encouraged to play.

The decision to make 2/5 NL a turbo format took a massive hit to the player pool too. Very few people are happy with that.

Yeah it's pretty sad tbh. Homegames still an option down there though right? Up here in Brissy the best homegame just got raided by police and that caused a chain reaction where all the other homegames shut up shop. So now the only option is the casino and that largely isn't an option. :'(

Is 1/2 actually beatable considering the buyin and rake? Played the 1/3 the other day and found it pretty tough and got sucked out on twice where i lost 2 $200BI. Thinking of going to 1/2 now. What are your opinions on this?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was unbeatable. Certainly don't play it though, just out of principle. 1/3 there is very beatable and moreso than the 1/2.

That's what i heard but surely if you shove preflop with a good pocket pair or broadway cards with a $50BI, someone will call you down with a limping hand? And from there, you can just double up, triple up and play really tight?

What are the weekly tournaments like (Midday Madness, Wednesday Night NLHE, Thursday Night Turbo) in terms of players and prize money? Do you recommend them over cash games?

I’ve just returned to playing after pretty much a year off (had a new baby and focused on other things), but circumstances have forced me to throw my hat back in to the ring and get something going again, so I’ve been going into Crown again.

Unbelievably, the turbo rules have gotten even worse, but not bad enough to make it no longer worth my while. I haven’t had to buy any more time yet, and it’s not something I’ve seen all that often. Granted, I’ve only played the 1/3 so far but the tables I’ve had have been no tougher than I remember, which is to say, your real enemies are still going to be 1) the rake, 2) your runbad, and 3) yourself.

Limp/calling remains by far the most popular method of entering a pot, and there’s so little 3betting I’m convinced 95% of players are doing it with only QQ, KK and AA. (quite often you can find your AQ or AJ being dominated by an AK that just called a raise pre). As for 4bets? Forget about it.

My impression remains that nitty/TAG players will easily eek out a respectable hourly rate at these tables, while those who can switch between a tighter and looser styles based on table dynamics will be able to find a much more decent return.

My plan is to save a couple of hundred a week and only play Friday nights and weekends with the goal of getting back to the 2/5 tables as quickly as possible.

All that being said, if the home game scene really is as good as people are saying, it could also be time to jump back into that world.

I'm new to the area and have walked into the poker room about 5 times and sat down once. Two of the times i saw limit Omaha high and then PLO8 (which I played). But neither ever again. I was hoping one of them might be regular at all-?

Also, is there anyone to find out what's playing without showing up? No app or website seems to have the games. And no one answered the time or two I called.

Can any one tell me whether parking's still validated at the counter when you take your seat?

It's been a while since I've been there..

It’s not. You now have to give the dealer your Rewards card and the dealer will give it to a floor manager who will then take your card to get you your parking credit.
Slightly more cumbersome way of doing it but at least dealers and floor managers are starting to learn their customer’s names now.

Good to know, thanks!

Will I be able to park on weekends with the normal membership card?

I remember on certain days it used to be restricted to gold or platinum members only or something

So what the parking credit system really is for poker players is free parking for your NEXT visit. It’s not actually validating the parking for your current visit. So, assuming you have been given your parking credit on the current visit, it is valid for whatever day your next visit is on, whether that be a Saturday, Sunday or any week day.
