I went this weekend. I got a players card but it won't really do me any good. They only let you cash in your comps Sunday through Thursday. So it's only good for the locals.

How has the action been? Thinking of coming down from GA tonight. Do they get any 2/5 games going during the week? Obviously will play anything if not, TIA

Just to let people know...Went down couple nights ago. Only had 2 tables of 1/2 running. They were trying to get a 2/5 game going.

The room is super nice, chairs are a little un-comfy.The staff and dealers were very friendly and helpful. You could tell everyone there except me was a reg. Def. money to be made. Overall, games were very good.

Even though I only live about 25 minutes from the place, I haven't been since the last weekend of Sept. Looking to make it back either Friday or Saturday night. Fortunately I cashed in my points (whopping $35) last time, as I think they were set to expire.

Hopefully the action will be better than last time. It was a Sunday around 9 when I got out there and by the time I sat at the table, it was the only thing running. There were more employees than players.

How is the traffic here now?

the first 6 months it was great. the last 6 to 8 months not so great. $2/$5 tables are always the same tight players. $1/$2 tables are boring. JCKC had better action

Got my ass handed to me last night at Gretna 2-5nl. Net 920 loser. blah. Bricked my draws. Over pairs got under setted. Maybe won 3 pots all night. Itll be a minute before I make the drive back.
On a brighter note, the game was relatively full all night. One older gentleman bought in for 2500 but played it really nitty and other stacks were 200-500ish. One looser asian that was good for the game because most other players played on the tigher side.
The nightly tourney got 2 tables, was a 100$ buyin that had a 25$ bounty, and first prize was 270$ lol. I think with 10$ dealer addon the breakdown was 50$ to prize pool + 25$ bounty + 20$ rake + 10$ addon + 5$ player of the month freeroll tournament = 110$.

Stuck 200 at 1-2nl. Theyre opening a 2-5nl at the moment. Looks like were 8 handed with everyone buying in with 2-300

Grinded 1-2 nl today. Got up 50$ and then dumped it all off to an older gentleman with top pair and openended. He had the nuts.

Had my first winning session at Gretna. The 2-5nl table had a great consistency of players. The first orbit I get AA and make 150. The second orbit I get AK and take down the pot with a 3-bet. The Fourth orbit I open AK to 25 and flop AK5 in a 3 way pot, cbet and get 1 caller. Turn Q, i bet and get shoved on... I call, villian shows 55. FML.
Grind back up until I get into a hand with the same guy at the table. I open AhQh to 25 in late position and get a button call and a limper call. Flop 6h2h6c, limper leads 63 (odd bet I know), i call, button folds. Turn 8s, limper leads 100, i call. River 4h, limper leads 100, i shove all in for 293 more and he tank calls, then mucks. I think he had 63 after the fact because of his flop sizing. Still stuck 1600 at the place but nice to get a little chunk back.

Next weekend they are holding a 250$ buyin. I haven't seen rake or structure sheets on this but I'd say there is some solid value as they run a good amount of satelites for the tournament. I may go check it out.

Dropped in for a morning session and found myself in a great 1-2nl game. One player was giving tons of action. Unfortunately he was on my left, cracked my AA and JJ, but I managed to hold on him in some significant pots later in the session.
One hand he straddled to 5 utg, got 2 callers to me in bb with Q9off and I completed, he made it 20, limpers called, I jammed 183 total and he called. This got me unstuck and moving in the right direction. Still stuck at this poker room but I've booked 2 winners now and feeling some confidence that I can do it again!

Wont make it tonight to play 2-5 nl or tomorrow for the 10k guarantee tourney. Anyone else on this site play at this room? Id love to read how someone else views the room.

abs, I try and make it out there once or twice a month on a Friday or Saturday night, if you still head out there and play. I stick to 1/2 for BR reasons.

Interesting place. Just played Best Bet Orange Park over Thanksgiving. Prefer that room but the 5 hour round trip makes it hard to justify vs just over an hour RT to Gretna.

This place has a weekly player composition of about 25-30 regulars and several people who play when theyre in town. Weekends have much larger crowds and many more randoms. Im going to try and start a regular 2-5 nl game and regular 1-2 nl at this venue. It has the players with the desire/bankrolls, but it lacks the initiative of someone to organize it. This one guy Mike has a good list of plo players. Im gonna do the same for 2-5 nl and see if i can get it going.

Do they advertise in Tallahassee? I think I'd prolly have a bus service bringing in students and lawyers alike!

They have a few billboards. One on Monroe and one on Tennessee. They advertise on tv during jeopardy as well. I dont think theyre allowed to advertise on campus.

Played 2-5 plo with mandatory button straddle today. The game was short handed throughout and at times super loose. Saw a 4k pot chopped when two got it all in on a 268ss flop. One guy had AKQ6 and the other guy had As9s5s4s. They ended up chopping it after a pair of 6's held up on the first runout.

Was this the 2/5/10 PLO/big O mixed game? Or did the normal weekend 1/2 with $5 bring in game get bigger this weekend?

It was the Big O game that ran through friday night and was playing headsup when I showed up. They said they would change to plo if I would play. I agreed. Game filled in a bit but never got above 6 players while I was there.

I gotcha. Wierd. Normally a 1/2 with $5 bring in will get going on fri/sat nights. I hadnt seen the big O game spread there on a weekend in a while and I normally don't go much during the week. For the first year it was open you could get a good 2/5 game any day of the week but it seems to have dried up. I don't know if the new wore off or if too many people went busto. I know there are a lot more poker players in Tallahassee than what drive over there.
