Maybe he just wanted to drink and have fun and thought the newer gen 40 players wouldn't recognize him.

Long time lurker here ..

I decided to take the plunge and head out to the Commerce Casino yesterday. I was very hesitant after reading some of the stuff on here and was half expecting to drive up to the place and see random fights taking place in the parking lot before stepping in and having a hamburger thrown in my face..

I actually had a great time playing 200 NL (3/5) .. Floor person explained how everything worked - I wasn't used to the nomenclature having only played in Vegas. Dealers were nice. Maybe I got lucky with my table but everybody on it was nice as well. I did observe one table where some argument broke out with an ancient shriveled up asian man with a limp walking away mumbling something about taking it outside but that was more comical than threatening.

It was PACKED even on Thanksgiving. Great action as well. Will definitely be back.

When did they change the dealers uniforms? As if the main floor wasn't cold enough, having shorter sleeves seems like a cheap shot.

The 5/10 game with 25 dollar chips is a new thing too. (Hadn't been there since June)

Will it be better to play ring games at Commerce or Bicycle next week while the WSOPC is in town? I will be in the area on business and will have a couple of afternoons/evenings available.

Staying at Commerce for one night Tuesday nighg. I haven't reserved yet. It says it's $180/night before tax and hotel fees for the cheapest room. Is there a poker rate? I will play 40/80 Limit Holdem when I'm there.
Do I call and reserve? Can I reserve online? Will I still get a poker rate, if there's any?

There used to be a rate for booking over 7 days in advance. I have no idea now. You might be able to get it for less than that. I would just ask around.

Talk to the floor after you've been playing for a few hours and see if he can hook you up. He probably will.

What's my best use of comp bucks if I don't eat food while playing? Have 100+ dollars on my card and not sure what to blow it on.

If you smoke you can use it on cigarettes at the gift/snack shop. I once told a guy about that and I think I made his decade.

Actually, you can use it on everything at the gift shop, but smokers seem to get excited about "free" cigarettes.

That's hilarious. I actually grab a red bull from there each time and put it on my card, I've just done it enough to where I'm conditioned to think the only think there is RedBull honestly. I'll have to look around next time.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays: Commerce
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Bike
Sunday: depends on whether you're at an even-numbered or odd-numbered table

I'm going to be at commerce for a couple nights in mid January. Looking online it seems like 178 a night is cheapest I can get at Crowne Plaza. Can you get a discounted poker rate if you play a bit? What is it and what limits do you need? Is hotwire or price line doable for commerce?
