No joke!

I remember playing from 6pm - 6am (friday-saturday). No shortage of tables!

I also played on a weekday (I think it was a Monday or Tuesday) until about 5am the next morning.

Pretty sure Casino rate (you need a floor to get this rate) is $109 not 100% sure buts its around there.

I've stayed at the Doubletree down the street and the Embassy Suites in Downey, those are the best other options.
. Is the Ramada that is a couple miles away decent or no way

Never stayed there, the reviews scared me away. We go to the Denny's next to it all the time though. Area is definitely more sketchy than the area around Commerce (Warehouses) and Doubletree (Shopping Mall).

Bold prediction: the 405 shutdown isn't going to be that big of a deal. You can come back and laugh at me if I'm wrong.

That is a bold prediction.

Might not have a noticeable effect on action at the commerce, but it will royally screw west side traffic to the tune of an Obama visit.

Last time Obama was here, traffic was a breeze. I think people will adjust and it won't be carmageddon roadpocalypse the way they're talking. Bay Bridge has been shut down multiple times with similar dire warnings, and people up there adjusted. We're talking about one modest stretch of freeway here.

And yes, I'm laughing at myself if I'm completely wrong. It's just a hunch.

Man I hope you're right but I don't think so. I want to go to OC on the 16th, but I might just stay in my room if sigalert is all lit up in red.

Making any travel plans the weekend of the 405 shutdown is stupid. Plan on staying very close to your house or getting out of town before it starts.

I think playing it by ear is smarter. That's why there's sigalert.

I hear stories all the time of ppl getting followed home or to the gas station and held at gunpt, but has anyone ever been robbed in the commerce parking lots?

I have a question too - does anyone know if it's legal to carry in the car? Does anyone here carry in the car? I realize CCW is not allowed in LA county.

You can carry an unloaded weapon in passenger compartment. The ammunition must not be within access (e.g. gun in car, bullets in trunk)

Just started to play at Commerce for first time after moving to LA. After hearing many stories, most ala Duece Plays w Bart Hanson podcast, I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised. Min cashed the Sunday 1pm $115 NLHE tourny. The place appears thriving, at least on a Sunday in the summer.

Angle shooter extraordinaire did try to pull another player's card out of the muck for two pair to "beat" my top pair. That's a little unnerving, the rest of the player pool seemed well behaved. Floor manager handled pretty well. 2 players said they folded kings, so all four were accounted for and that was enough for the ruling. Video evidence proved villain was a liar...at his request. lol/wtf/smh

And should I be worried that it only took 26 months for this post to evolve from: "I consider this place my home... I just want to hear commerce stories etc etc.. anything about anything" to a discussion on concealed weapons...

really? were all poker players here. is anyone considering the need for a weapon in and around commerce??

Isnt there a security guard tower in the parking lot? also, im kind of surprised at everyone saying how commerce is in a bad location... i dont think the area is really that bad of a place?

Yes security tower and also a security truck in that back lot connecting to the hi limit rm (doesn't make me feel that much better bc these guys get to see who's there every day and what time they usu come in/leave). Good friend of mine was followed home (fm diff casino) and robbed at gunpt and now insists on always using valet, even at commerce. My concern is less being followed home bc there's gated communities and garages and you can always watch your tail, but I'm rly curious if anyone has ever at least heard a story of someone being robbed on-premise. Or how much risk is there in being robbed in the commerce parking lot, and is it worth using valet every day to protect yourself fm this risk? Also (and this goes for any casino in the US), when you leave late at night, drive straight home. Esp don't stop at a gas station or a diner, and always watch your tail. Poker plyrs are wayyyyy easier targets than gas stations and banks, so you always have to be very careful.
