I thought the poker rate was higher. Commerce hotel sent me a flyer for $99/night until 12/27 or so. I was able to get it from 12/23 - 12/30 so I decided to fly from NYC. Thought I was getting a really good deal.

Actually I screwed up on flight, should have booked one week before rather than 3 weeks before. Paid $900 instead of $700-725. Thought it would get more expensive as it got closer to Xmas. Wrong.

Room is nice. Wish they had a fridge so I could have milk, yogurt, blueberries stored for the week.

Action at Commerce has been good at the $5/$5. Also did the rounds to see the new Hawaiian Gardens. Will be doing Hollywood Park and Bike next but they seem to have lot less action early during the day.

Question about Event #18 of the LAPC that's coming up. It says that it is a $350 NLHM "Action Clock" Special tourney. It doesn't explain what an Action Clock tournament is, does anyone here know what that means?

WPT ACTION CLOCK RULES
 The Action Clock will be implemented into play when the tournament field is one table off the money.
 The Action Clock will becontrolled by the dealer. Dealers will start the Action Clock following the completion
of each deal once the last card has been dealt. When players act in turn, the Action Clock will be reset, with
each player receiving a fresh 30 seconds to begin his or her action.
 When a bet or raise has been made, the dealer will first count the bet or raise size, announce the
amount, and then start the clock for the next action. If a player calls the bet, the dealer will reset the
clock to begin the next player’s action.
 Dealers will advise players when the Action Clock reaches 10 seconds...

Haven't been to Commerce in some times, I noticed in Bravo they are hyping need jackpot seeds. Is this a temporary thing or long term?

https://www.commercecasino.com/promo...super-jackpots

If it's long term, has it had any affects on the game or are they now dropping 2 bucks or something god awful to fund this.

rake is still $6+1, they seem to have gotten rid of some of the random drawings promotions. Not sure how long they will keep it, but they can likely sustain it if BBJP is their only promo expense.

That makes some sense. They probably fired the marketing / promo person to save a few bucks too...

seems the $100-400 PLO is slightly less rake than NL Holdem (except for $40 NL) and is low enough blinds at $1-2 where u "feel deepstacked" without having to pay with high priced blinds for those of us with a smaller bankroll. with the max buy much more than $40, we dont feel too shortstacked either. its the easiest game to make money in but why is it always breaking up so EARLY, and even more annoying often when 1 guy quits the game breaks up before they even have time to seat the person or two waiting on the list.

and wtf are the players often getting up to move to a $500 or more buyin game with bigger size blinds? seems it wouldnt be the same type of crowd wanting both games. i mean they often stay til they see the game is getting short, then they move to $500-1500 NL or something. which makes no sense because if they like the low priced blinds, seems they would play $40 NL instead or if they like the much bigger sized blinds, why arent they playing the much bigger sized omaha plo? u wouldnt think the same crowd who enjoys the LOWEST limit PLO would be enjoying the MUCH HIGHER NL for holdem.

@sevencard2003, A lot of the players don't like to play deepstack. I was playing the $1-$2 game and although people are there to gamble, they want to rack up once they already doubled there buyin

For people who have accumulated ~1,000 player points, is there anything worthwhile to spend them on?

All I know is that they have amusement park vouchers you can buy or snacks at the shop, but neither sound appealing for this amount.

Any advice on what one could spend them on that's worth something?

Can anyone tell me what the games listed on Bravo are?

600-0 NLH = ? 10000-PLO = 50/100? 500-1500 NLH = 5/10 NLH? 2000-0 NLH = 10/20 NLH?

Do they run bigger games not listed on Bravo sometimes?

Looking to make a trip to Commerce, just curious what the different games that run regularly are.

500/1500 is 5/10 NL

2000-0 is 20/40 NL

don't know about PLO.

I also prefer limit, but I totally understand why no limit took over.

1) No limit is made for television. The possibility that someone's entire stack can be at risk in any given hand is built-in drama, especially if you edit out all the "boring" hands where it folds to MP who raises and everyone folds.

2) Many recs like to emulate what they see on T.V. They don't see 7 Stud or LHE on T.V.

3) I also think the ability to avoid post-flop decisions with large pre-flop bets appeals to people. You can't get outplayed post-flop if you're all-in or pot committed pre.

4) Fish dgaf about the "ecosystem."

Yes more sustainable but fish like action and big pots.... Then again the way the buy-ins work in California or at least at the Commerce the games are made so the money last longer with their ridiculous maximum buyin limits. Better for the poker rooms.

the fish have spoken. for the most part nl and plo are more popular than limit.

of course the card rooms would much prefer people all play limit, but the fish dictate what gets played.

Me neither. Could someone explain how to read this info about limits on their website/Bravo?

A-B X - (NAME OF GAME)

A-B is obviously the spread of the game but how can I tell the blind-structure? I also gather that if B = 0 it's uncapped. The number or X that follows is confusing, though.

I also just can't believe that the drop is $6 on any post-flop pot w an additional $1 for rivers. Is this really true? Thought the West Coast was the land of milk and honey when it comes to the live poker offering. At what limits do they start charging time rake?

I also assume it's too hopeful to think there's any kind of cash-back. I read something about comp points but I couldn't figure out what they can be redeemed for.
