Total chaos as everyone just congregates around the person taking sign ups and prevents the person from him or her from seeing the floor. It also backs up traffic wise when busy.

I also couldn't believe the total lack of etiquette or adherence to rules. Players routinely talk about the hand being played when it was multi-way, played out of turn, abused dealers and each other etc. My favorite was a guy who turned a rack into 4 racks at a must move table then when he had to move to the main game went and cashed in his profit before coming to the table.

I do have to say the food and beverage service is awesome. Porters clean up immediately and will get you coffee too. I also love a room that has more then enough drink tables which many don't.

BTW NEVER STAY at the Motel 6 suites on Slauson. Total dump and overpriced. The property looks like Beirut. TV didn't work since the remote was on the fritz. I also think its home to a lot of low income types. Some girl ran in front of me while I was checking out to get a can opener for some cold Chili.
I haven't been there in a few years.sounds like it hasn't changed at all.

For a budget hotel you get a good value. Most are decent but this one was awful!

Does the Commerce make tourney players disclose if they have a piece of each other at the final table? Like if Ron had 20% of Susan in the 1100$ O8 and they finished 1-2 , did all of the other players at the final table know he had a piece or is it ok to keep that on the DL?

Why would you even consider talking about that?

I can see the concern for collusion related issues but what would the rule be, and how would it ever be enforced ?

Does any room in the entire world make you disclose such information?

Quick question, I'm heading to Cali on Friday and was wondering which casino would be best to play at Bike or Commerce(Tables, action)? I play 1/2, 1/3, 2/5 NL and some 5/10.

Thanks

Played at Commerce for the first time on Friday when I was in town for the day. Everyone here told me the 5/5 game (300 min/500 max) is the nuts so I played that.

First, holy hell the room is huge compared to where I normally play (Horseshoe Hammond). So many games and check in spots. Chip runners were insanely fast and dealers are really good at keeping the game going. Everyone wasn't lying about how crazy people are there with action and personality. First 30 minutes there and saw 2 guys start verbally cuzzing each other out while standing up and saying lets fight out side.

The game was unreal. Min open was $20 with $25 to $35 being the norm and still getting 3-5 callers almost every time. People calling down so damn lite with bottom pair.

Loved the room and the action, absolutely hated the drive/traffic getting there from Venice beach area.

I was there for a week during the LAPC. It was my first time and I was impressed. Played 500-1500 holdem (5-10 NL) from about 1 pm - 1 am every day.

I didn't get a slow or bad dealer once the whole trip. All of them were all business and didn't converse with the players. I love the system of dealers taking their trays with them, it is so much faster than doing fills and recounting the tray every down. When I was there, they didn't sell chips from their trays once, and the chip runners were pretty quick.

I only recall seeing the clock called once all week, and other than that there were no disputes that required calling the floor. The system for table transfers is excellent, a floorman handles it every time and asks the player whether they'll take it or pass. Also when ever a new player comes to the table, a floor/brush will ask if anyone wants to seat change, before locking up the seat, so nobody can take the seat once they see who is sitting down, which is very rude imo. Also love the system for calling names on the waitlist, you get called 3 times then on to the next name so about 15 secs to make yourself known.

The food was cheap. Many items on the menu were 6 dollars. The more expensive items were 15. The food itself was decent. You can eat at the table.

Oh and the action was pretty good too.

Overall Rating: A+

I saw on Bravo 30/60 lowball, and 200/400 and 300/600 combo? What are those games? Is the lowball a mixed game?

Trip Report - 8 March 2017

Wednesday was my planned day to check out the Commerce Casino. Compared to the newly renovated Bike, Commerce was a dingy Pit of Desperation and Despair. The first thing I noticed once I got a seat was how long the lists for games were and how many open tables there were. For the largest poker room in the world, they clearly appeared understaffed. There was constant player buzz about the large number of dealers who quit right before LAPC about a month before. Apparently this is a recent issue to have come up and one I hope they address soon.

I played a little Omaha/8 but eventually I got the call for the Main Event – the 5-5-10 (rock) PLO game was getting started on Table 27. This was a fun game, worth the wait, and the primary saving grace of the PDD. Will play again, would recommend to others.

I wandered around Hotel side, so if you are playing the "big games" which I believe were 20-40 NLH, 25-50 PLO and 200-400 "combo" (mixed game) you were in better shape with dealers and an improved atmosphere in general. I definitely felt like this was the place to come to pick up some dollars off loose gamblers who thought they'd try out this poker thing and that seems to fit.

Felt a lot like Binions in downtown Vegas as far as the feel / energy / vibe of the room / general sense of history; obviously considerably larger and many more tables.

I went to Commerce for a week straight because I was bored of NL and wanted to play PLO.

Cliffs:
1. Friday night fight- 3 Armenians vs 1 Japanese at the 40NL table. The 3 guys basically assaulted and jumped on the dude. It was real bloody and uncalled for.

2. Using the massage lady's pen to cross out my name on the must-move because the game was really good. Floor caught me but allowed it for 10 minutes before he made me move.

3. X postulating who was creepier, me or a chill rec, until he blatantly points to this Canadian dude and exclaims that he's a creepy ****... in front of everyone lol. I nonverbally told him to gtfo.

4. Badass regulars. The regulars and especially the 5/5/10 PLO regulars are ****ing badass dudes.

5. Old blonde lady grabs me by the hips with both hands as she's "just passing by" and proceeds to try and doggy-style **** me.

6. X the floorman getting all butthurt and like deliberately arguing with me because I went out to smoke weed while my food arrived. He ended up comping the 2nd order of a $5 bacon & eggs lol wtf. He gave me a friendly massage later but it's ****ing funny that X, this Commerce floorman's natural reaction is to argue and yell at me lolololol over a ****ing $5 food at the 5/5 NL table.

Thinking about coming out to the commerce casino. I've been looking at bravo recently. I can't make north or south as to what some of these NL games are. I think 300-500NL is $2/5NL??? Why does commerce have to be different than 99% of poker rooms. Can anyone explain what no limit games are running in that picture (I.e blinds not buyins)

The 4-8 Omaha to the 40-80 Holdem are the blind structures. The Holdem games up to 40-80 are Limit Holdem.

40NL is 1/2 $40 max
60-120 is 2/3 $120 max I believe.
100-400 plo is 1/2

300-500 NL is 5/5

500-1500 NL is 5/10 $1500 max buyin

500-1500plo is 5/5/10 rock straddle

600- uncapped is 10/20

2000-uncapped is 25/50

I advise only playing the 1/2 plo and 5/5 nl and up. 5/10 nl is hard, 5/5/10 plo is hard. Rest of the NL games below the 5/5 are close to unbeatable. If you want to play 2/3, go play at the Bike where it's 100bb.

Commerce is a zoo. Watch what you say. 3 Armenians got arrested for viciously assaulting a, from what I heard very polite and nice Japanase man. His girl was there too and she was crying in horror. Tons of scammers too be careful. Stay safe. It's ****ing entertaining though so ya stay safe and enjoy the madness.

Is the rake at the $1/2 40 NLH Commerce tables two high?

As of 5/26/17, preflop the house takes $1(the small blind). On the flop another $3 are taken and If I remember correctly they take 50¢ on the turn and again on the river. So it's about $4-5 from every pot that makes it to the river.

The house takes $4 total by the flop. Which is already 10% of the min/max $40 buy in (you can rebuy up to $60 if your stack falls below $20).

I've been playing there for a few months and choose to play there because the rake is cheaper than Hollywood Park Casino which is actually closer to me.

-What do you think about this rake at the $40NL game?
-Is there a better rake there or in the area for low stakes?

Sure, I think its high, but its not going to change. Look around you at all the people playing- why would they change anything?
This rake is standard for the LA basin, and will not change or be found better anywhere else.
It is not defensible, but honestly, consider the cost of doing business in LA, the taxes, the employee benefits and wages. Sure, the average poker table in LA rakes $1M a year, but what is the net? And at that rake, you can see why a poker room license is so valuable.

If I play small, like the $40, or the $80, I'm at the Bike. Essentially the same game. I look at a buy-in for the Bike 40/60 as in-play potentially for every hand I play. My main objective in entering a hand is to get it in. Limping in this game is slow suicide. Might as well light the stack on fire.

I usually try and go up the ladder, starting with 60, and going to 120, the up to the plaza to the 300 max, at the Bike. Thats me. Others want to sit there and grind at their particular level. You can easily spot 200-300 stacks at the 40nl game all the time.

Pretty similar strat for the 40 or 60/120 at Commerce. Its a low buy-in, high rake game. Play it accordingly.

Dealers said the Japanese middle aged man was a regular and very nice.

It was at the 40NL table and the area got swarmed by casino police.

I hope your not being sarcastic. Although it is entertaining, I'm going to advise against casino violence on-property. I'm a card player not a UFC fighter.
