Playing in a 500-1500NL game. UTG raises to 45. UTG + 1 calls. A few others call.

Flop 988. UTG bets out $100. UTG + 1 calls. Others fold.

Turn blank rag, check, check.

River blank rag. UTG bets out $200 with $600 behind. UTG + 1 covers and pushes all in.

UTG tanks and starts saying that he has a 9, trying to get a read on UTG + 1. This goes on for 3-4 minutes. Finally, MP calls the clock on UTG. UTG gets mad at MP. UTG then says, "Okay, CALL" and pushes his chips up to, but not across the betting line, which is his standard practice by the way.

UTG + 1 turns to him and says, "Call?" and he says "Call." UTG + 1 flips over 78.

UTG then mucks his hand and pulls his $600 or so back form the line. UTG + 1 asks what he is doing and UTG says, "I didn't call, I meant call the floor." Crooked-ass dealer agrees with angleshooting regular. Everyone else at the table is kind of stunned.

No. They called the floor over and the dealer told the floor that UTG was saying "call" as in "call the floor" so he hadn't called. Floor upheld dealer decision. UTG told UTG + 1 over and over that he wasn't trying to angleshoot and it was a mistake.

I had a pretty perspective of the whole thing; I was in the BB sitting next to UTG. I think UTG + 1 got screwed, but he just sat there dumbfounded. I probably would have started screaming.

By the way, UTG got stacked making some stupid call where he's never good about 45 minutes later.

Read my post and trip report regarding Commerce and The Crown Plaza Hotel

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/27...=#post10343605

In Summary - I loved the mid limit hold'em games and the hotel but was a bit surprised by the level of dealer abuse I saw.

Playing in a 200NL brand new game. 2 drunk vegas pros join the table from the tournament (la poker classic going on), they want the entire table to go in blind for the first hand. A few people object but the pros say they will throw in an addition $200 each into the pot. Everyone agrees and one of the pros ends up scooping $2200 and leaves. A-hole

here's a hand from my #2000 thread:

a funny hand from the commerce 10-20nl.

the hand goes like this...julien, a grade A nutcase raises. Mike, an asian dude w/ alot of ticks (maybe tourettes) re-raises. Julien calls and everyone else folds.

flop is whatever. julien checks, mike bets pot, julien calls.

turn is whatever. julien checks, mike bets pot, julien calls.

river is whatever. julien checks, mike does a speech about how julien would never check a pair, then bets pot, julien goes in the tank then asks mike if he would like to split the pot. Mike says no. Julien says that he likes Mike, knows hes winning, doesnt need mikes money, and asks again for a chop. mike says no. so julien says call.

now mike says, "Q high you win". julien replies, "i know thats why i was trying to chop the pot with you" then adds, "if you still want to chop we can". Mike, suprised, agrees to take the chop. julien shows J high.

I play frequently at the lower levels; 4/8, 4/8wkill, & 1/2nl40 and have witnessed the same thing. It seems the limit games are the breeding ground for the worst behaviors. I play for fun and usually dump 2-3 buy-ins each trip. If people are over the top I will usually change tables or make fun of them until they either knock it off or leave. The 50 year old, 5'4" 135lb tough guys are hysterical. I bust a gut laughing when they start going off on other players who are always on the other side of the table.

Commerce stories - OMG -

1) The tale of two Water Buffaloes

Two aging water buffaloes (65+ each, may be 70+) with European accents are after each other at 4/8. It escalates to an offer to "take it outside." Offer and acceptance. Except the offeror is a particularly dangerous FEMALE water buffalo. She stops by Security and complains that she is being stalked and harassed by aging buffalo 1 and that he will be waiting outside. Security finds him outside and busts him. Then Security comes to our table and finds out that SHE was the source of the offer of the outside adventure!

2) Young black guy (YBL) in the 40$NL upstairs stands up and just goes off in a 15 minute high volume rant. He can take us all out, one at a time or all at once. One white wannabee is actually pumping this guy up. Didn't need that. Finally Security shows up in the form of Budda, my nickname for a guard who is bald, about 5'6" and just about as wide. Budda just stands quietly about 3 ft. away from YBL who is continuing his non-stop verbal torrent about beating up the world. YBL continues to offer to take on all comers but then he finally acknowleges Budda with: "But not YOU, mother****a, you too damn big!" Finally YBL runs out of verbal gas and is led peacefully from the room.

3) Armed Old Man Bandit: The FBI makes the rounds of the casinos with their "have you seen this guy poster." They look over the rail and find their guy and invite him to a special table and game. He is working on his game at the Fed. pen doing time for armed bank robbery and bomb threats. After this occurred I asked all the dealers if they knew this guy. Here are the quotes: 1) a regular (LLHE), 2) a nice guy 3) good tipper, and 4) never stiffed a dealer. So check to see if the $ you exchange at the table has any red dye on it!

And I have more.

Commerce Stories - Food Service

As anyone who has ever played there knows, the Player Pool at Commerce is a snapsot of the UN or League of Nations. As a blond haired guy from Texas, I feel like I stand out on some visits.

A funny incident occurred one evening when I was playing 4-8w/kill. A chinese gentleman tried to order a bowl of chilli from a cambodian waitress. Not to be accussed of racism, but it sounded something like cheerie. After repeating it no less than five times, the waitress appeared to take the order and leave...only to never be seen again.

The chinese man called over the Mexican Floorman, who apoligized and called over another Vietnamize waitress to go through it again. At this point, the whole table is laughing including the eastern european dealer, who probably hasnt smiled since the wall came down. So the cheerie is ordered. I end up making a side bet with the Filipino man sitting next to me that the waitress screws up the order and brings him wonton soup. He takes the bet.

After another 15 minutes, the food comes out. It was some sort of vietnamese meetball soup. We agreed that the bet was a push, and the chinese man gave up and ate his free bowl of soup. The entire incident was hysterical and a pretty typical experience at Commerce. ....

I can't testify to the food quality, you guys have pretty much talked me out of ever eating at any casino with the sticky chip, dirty card, and coughed on table talk in this forum.

I once ordered "toasted bagel and lox, no cream cheese," repeated it when asked to, and received lox and kimchee.

My favorite Commerce story:

Playing in the 2-4 last year, I bought in for $100. Psycho player to my right is on auto-tilt, playing ANY 2 cards for any amount. 3 seats open, and 3 friends sit. It looked like they were part of a bachelor party having a good time. They all by in for $200, and start lagging it up. This sends psycho into super tilt (he started freaking out about the $200). So to add a little fun to the game, I send the chip runner for another 7 racks! Now he absolutely loses his mind! He burns through 2 more racks, and on the 3rd rack, starts throwing chips on the floor under the table saying "I'm tipping the cleaning staff". He polishes off the rest of that 3rd rack and leaves completely tapped. I rack up soon after and call it a night.

The fun part is that I might have played like 5 hands in his 3 racks. He just lost his mind because I had a mountain of chips in front of me.

As I'm walking to the cage with 8-9 racks of $1's, a guy from the $40NL asks me "did you win all of that playing $40NL?', and I say, "no, 2-4 limit". His jaw slams the floor.

Per a request, some more....

Yes, the colliding accents at Commerce are a never ending source of comedy. Sooner or later, everyone plays the game I call: "Eh,...what?"

A) You'll never order pizza again.

Young male asian crew of 3 gets seated at a table. They are pretty pounded and loud. They also sound a lot like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles having the following conversation: "Dude, what smells? Man, that isn't just a smell...it REEKS. OK, who PUKED?" Their noses were functioning fine. Something did smell. The pepperoni pizza at the next table. It was that bad.

Now I am a fan of most of the food @ Commerce, but I never have and never will order their pizza!

B) Dealer complaints about Omaha players.

Nice dealer knows I play Omaha from time to time and proceeds to tell me what had happened the day before at the O/8 table.

She had gotten in the middle of two guys that were just about to go at it at the table with their chairs! We opened this event up for general discussion. Our easy concensus was next time she was just to get the blank out of the way, and let them beat on one another. That way, they either get banned, jailed, or both, and Omaha will get a little bit nicer.

And then there was the police chase and shooting where the guy tried to run into the casino to get away.

Flak jackets anyone? Welcome to Commerce!

first time i went there saw a guy get pantsed playing 60 120 holdem

i once told a guy "i hope someone stabs you in the head with an ice pick" in a 60 120 holdem game

missed the time roc got into a fistfight with someone half his size. missed the time roc threw greg muellers chips everywhere. didnt miss the time that i got roc to drink with me until he asked someone tough looking (but with crutches) in our 300 600 mix game if they wanted to take their argument outside

didnt miss the time i saw 3 big bets go in between the turn and the river and have the J high bluff win when called. barely missed the time the J high bluff was called by the 5 high missed wheel draw. didnt miss the times that my J and Q high bluffs were called and my opponent claimed he misread my hand and mucked. didnt miss the time i 6bet bluffed someone on the river.

Saw that guy Jesus(Chris Fergueson) and Phil Hellmuth at Commerce during LAPC. They were doing a heads up event and it was late in tourney like maybe level 15 or something. So those are really only famous people I have seen there at least in poker world. Anyone got anymore good 2/4 limit stories.

When you first walk in the main entrance..are the bigger poker games to the left or in the big room on the right? I had a hard time figuring out what people were playing when I walked through to take a look (unfamiliar with chip values.)
