I'm coming down from Canada for a few days in December and was wondering if anybody knows what I can expect by way of comps playing 20/40 and 40/80 LHE? I was there in November and received what I believe was $3/hr, while all food was also free. But I was told that was some kind of promotion and that can change at any time.

I looked on the website as well as their app, and neither indicate anything about either $3/hr comp or free food.

Would be grateful if any reg could chime in. Thank you.

Hey guys,

Been trying to understand what 10-100 on Bravo at the Commerce means. I've seen it next to Lowball, Omaha Hi/Lo, Golden Frog Baccarat. Is it a promotional thing? Is it a spread game? I've tried calling and the person who answered 3 times couldn't give me an answer. Any help would be appreciated. I'm heading there end of January for the LAPC.

BI - Amounts. I'm here currently and play the 500-1500 PLO , which is a min buy 500 max 1500. GL

I was wondering the same thing. I don’t know the answer but I have a hunch it’s some sort of list or promotion and not an actual game. Reason being there is literally never a wait list for it. How can there be 4 tables of 10/100 omaha hi lo (whatever that is) and never have a wait list?

For the game you are in it is the min max BI. But for the questioned posed I doubt the $10 min buy in.

Was looking to come down in January, does the action pick up then for LAPC or is that too early? 5/5+ and 5/T specifically

Those limits are always going multiple tables, don’t sweat it

Reg proceeds to make fun of just about every other player at the table to her - in semi-poker code but completely obvious. On the surface he's saying good hand and being nice to the bad players, but then obviously making fun of them in low tones to her. Like we can't hear you dude. When he's discussing the hand he just had with me in low tones - I chime in and he looks at me like "this is a private conversation" lol. Don't be that reg.

Anyway I get in a hand with her and c-bet a K-high flop and he starts making a grrrrr sound to her as she starts to fold. WHAT THE ****. She folded anyway. Then he did it again when she started to call a nitty old guy's UTG raise. She called that anyway too lol. Then she ran a crazy 3-street bluff on a paired board in a 5-way pot. Otherwise nitty guy called her down with trips obviously. She seemed shocked at his hand. Clearly she needed the help the reg was giving her.

2) Later I get in a hand with my new buddy to the right (the nitty guy from the trips hand) who's been amassing a big stack by playing super tight and getting monsters (I always try to make friends with a bigstack on my right). A-hole reg bets turn, bigstack calls, I have KQs for top pair and turned flush draw on two-suited board and I'm short stacked. My new buddy starts moving his leg and nudging me under the table. Twice. He'd never done that in 3 hours of playing with him. He was clearly trying to tell me he had a big hand and to get out of the way. What the hell am I supposed to do there? It's not like he did anything provable - but I know what he was doing. I think he just didn't want to play a big pot but maybe a little was being nice to me.

To my credit I guess I shoved anyway - obviously I'm never folding that. A-hole reg shoved over me, bigstack called with his set but wasn't happy about it. A-hole reg had the other flush draw and got there. Bigstack who was not big stack anymore - was apoplectic. He just really didn't want to play big hands w/o the nuts.

lol this place sounds insanely sketchy. ive never seen that kind of influence from other players during a hand at the table, nor it happen to me, in probably my whole life. and that was just ONE session...?

the amount of collusion there must be literally off the charts.

Yeah I've had a few other pros confirm Commerce is a sketchy place.

From my time at Commerce pretty sure they are run by mafia. No way they are tracking more than the bare minimum of money.

Wouldn’t say commerce is necessarily “sketchy”. Just not as nice as some of the other card rooms in the area. Dirty chips, felts disgusting, and it drives me nuts how close the tables are.

Hustler is worse as far as the dirt. The chips are gross. But they're friendlier there. Looser too - the tourneys are so splashy early.

I'm like 2 for 20 for my tourney life there - usually ahead. That combined with the general scuzziness just associates the whole place with losing in my mind.

How the hell did he get away? Suspect still at large? What!?! Maybe he dipped into a bathroom and ditched his outer layer of clothing? Crazy that he could get away by going into a casino of all places with officers right on his tail.

Hi,

I'll be in LA in September and had a look at the Commerce's website.

Apparently they still propose a Lowball game (Ace to Five).
https://commercecasino.com/games/

There is a typo in their description. You should read draw instead of stud. They don't mean Razz by Lowball as Razz is explicitent mentionned lower in this list.

Anyone played Cali Lowball there recently ?

Kid.

Am heading to LA in a few days and will be hitting the commerce - had a few questions:

What blinds is the 2000-0 NL holdem game? 25/50 with uncapped buyin & min 2k?

And im guessing that 500-1500 X - NL HOLDEM is 5/10 with a full kill & 500-1500 buyin?

Last question: is the food any good? I've seen the menu and looks cheap and have heard you can have full meals brought to the table. any recommendations or stay away?

Don’t know the blinds on the first one but it would be a $2k min buyin no max. Probably 20/40NL.

500-1500 is 5/10NL with a $500 min/$1500 max. Not a kill game.

Most of the food is ok enough, it’s mostly serviceable while playing. Ask your table mates for recs when you’re there.

The 2k game is 10/20 uncapped buy-in. The 500-1500 buy-in is 5/10 no kill. The food is pretty good. I would recommend the blackened salmon, that's my favorite meal there. Most of the food is pretty well done there. I fully recommend and endorse the Commerce. Good times! Good luck!

The 10/20NL is still $600-0 on Bravo, isn’t it?

Can anyone comment on the 10/20 NL game at Commerce? Player pool, how often the game straddles or double straddles, average buy-in, best times or days to play (assuming Fri/Sat night)?

There are (or were) two different 10/20 games. A 600 min buy-in and a 2k min buy-in.

I've never played 10/20 at the Commerce cause I'm a wimp but I can tell you it generally only runs around the fun players so not 100% of the time. Tomorrow and Saturday should be pretty good action considering there is the LAPC going on and an $1100 MTT this weekend.

It is bad etiquette to seat change and most of the regs have an agreement not to seat change in the game.

The floor at commerce is 100% incompetent. I was there earlier today where there was this reg local who thought coronavirus was fake and it was just some dumb story.

So what did he do? he literally coughed on all the chips and spit and rubbed in a few.

Immediately 2 people picked up and the rest of us asked to get a table change and to get the guy 86'd since he's being a heath hazard. The floor came over listened to what happened and looked at the reg and told him to cut it out... and then walked away. No one knew what to do, we all looked at the dealer, dealer looked with a blank stare and the table just imploded.

Fastest table break i've ever seen ever.

Sure go ahead. But if you're doing it to get position on the fun player at the table, then screw you!
