LAPC just ended a few days ago. Other than less games how would anyone know in just a few days?

Wasn't lookin for anything in great detail.

Just knowing the traffic is noticeably less is good to know for someone not from the area

On a normal day there could be 8-15 5/10NL tables going. LAPC doesn't change it that much, maybe a few more or on the higher side of the range. It's still going to be more than any other cardroom in the country.

Don't know what the amount of 10/20 tables going is these days.

for the 500-1500 5-10NL on a normal weekday outside tourney time there will be anywhere from 4-5 games running depending on time of day. maybe once in a blue moon you can show up and have 8 tables running, but that is super rare (esp in the last year or so). this year at LAPC they averaged about 8-9 games and hardly ever the 12+ constantly that they had the last few years.

i thought this years LAPC 5-10 games were terrible and think if the games are the same next year il prob be at bike/vegas for 6 weeks.

also, they usually have 1-2 games of 10/20 running during the week outside tourneys and this year at LAPC they had 3-4 full games of 10/20 running during the week. a lot of the time the 10/20s were better games on avg than the 5-10s during this years LAPC

edit* dont say anything, but these few weeks right after lapc ends is usually a great time to play. there were 5 games running the last few days where almost each one was as good of a 5-10 game as ive ever seen.

.
You're not counting the $400 game, also 5/10. There are typically as many of those going as $500-$1500.

So I am a winning player at 2/3 $100 NL who has played in almost every casino in So Cal. I am patiently building my bankroll until I can play comfortably at a higher level. Lately I have been playing mostly at the Gardens because they have a progressive drawing that starts at $500 and increases every hour if there is no winner. Their super jackpot is going to increase to 150k on certain days and hours. However, there is no money added to a players card. They do have a freroll tournament on saturdays with a 10k gurantee, but entry fee is $30(not a true freeroll). Lastly, when lakers play the regular jackpot doubles. At commerce i dont think they have daily cash drawings and dont have the 150k super jackpot right? Also it bugs me that the drop is a mandatory $2 without a flop. At commerce they do add $1 to players card everywhere. Both the Gardens and Commerce are thesame distance to my house. Bottomline, where am I getting moreexpected value? If I am grinding at this lever where do you suggest I play?

Are you grinding to hit a jackpot?

For 2/3 100nl either is ok. for 3-5, commerce is much softer imo, HG usually only runs a few tables of their $300 3-5, where commerce can get 10 going on a good night.

I am not really grindingto hit a jackpot but of course if it happens, it would be great. I have only had one table share. Currently I am more concerned about improving my poker skills while making sure its not costing me money.

I honestly dont know what my hourly is. I should start taking that into account. It is extremely difficult to beat the rake at the $100NL level. Right now I play because its enjoyable and to improve my poker skills.

Last year I played mostly at the Hustler and won about 3k for the year. So far this year I am up about 4k mostly playing at the Garden. I base my improved numbers on better understanding of the game and better action at the Garden.

Again, these are not large numbers but considering the level I think they are not bad.

Is there better value playing $100 NL at Garden or Commerce?

Play it at the Bike where you can buyin for 100bb. Food's free too. And don't base a single decision on jackpots.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have played at the bike a few times but only the 80/120NL table.

I like to play at the Garden because of the cash drawing and action.

Being up 30 and 40 buy ins is pretty impressive. If your roll is around $7k, I would take shots at the 3/5 $200 at Commerce. The games get much deeper than they do at the 2/3 so your skill will probably improve. As for the $100, go with Commerce. More dead money to be won for the few times your TPTK holds up.

Thanks for the suggestion. Its probably time to move up, i would just hate running bad the moment I move up. Just last week I lost 9 buy ins in a row at HG before I was able to turn things around. I normally dont play so many buy ins in one session but the table was extra juicy an felt I was in full control(not tilting).

2/3 game in LA, except Bike, is not beatable IMHO because of the rake and the amount of starting chips. I like the game at the Bike more..only if they have more fishes like gardens and commerce

Someone hit 2 jackpots in one orbit last week at
The Gardens, and one of the two was the 100K. Talk about luck boxing. Guy walked with like 65K. HAve you played the 3-5 at HG? Games are very soft, and its not 100BB, but it is better than the $200 BI at Commerce, its $300. You could play your entire life and not hit a jackpot, so you should not base anything on the jackpot or drawings.

Yes they have a poker rate, no idea about the price/hours/etc. I don't think they care about hours though. Call them.

No low-limit PLO there.
