I agree; I worded my response poorly. That said, keeping the game solid and in tact is a higher priority to me. That doesn't necessarily mean I want it to stay at Ameristar. I just know that I do not have nearly the influence or pull to move the game, and I don't want to rip it apart trying to do it. I will plant some seeds and share my input when I feel it's best. Plus I am not going to put in much volume in May, and I'll be gone for the whole WSOP.

The Gates is having a tournament series starting the 2nd week in May called The Colorado Poker Championship. There are 14 events, ranging in buy-ins from ~120 to 1100 for the Main Event, which I believe is the 21st and 22nd. I'll have the schedule tomorrow.

I have a serious beef with the organizers, however. Despite the ME having 60-minute levels, and 50k in starting chips, the structure is freaking terrible. The blinds are 100/100, 100/200, 300/600, then *BAM*, 400/800/100, 600/1200/200. That's amazingly awful.
Did any one get the schedule for this tourney? I belive its like the heartland, where the 16 events are just qualifiers for the 1100 main event? Is that correct? DO you know the other big tournaments they have every week? I'm moving back to colorado next month and would like to regularly play in the bigger buy-ins w/ bigger prize pools!

The only thing anyone has posted on the tourney is from the Gates Facebook page link

and you can barely see the schedule from crappy camera phone shot. Might be best to give them a call.

They have a $300 tournament sunday afternoon

I just stopped by there. The floor guy said the structures will be different than their normal tourneys, but they weren't sure exactly what they would be yet.

The $100+$100+$100 and $60+$60+$60 are re-buys or add-ons with a chip bonus. You get 10,000 chips per buy for the $100 and 5,000 for the $60. If you buy all 3 before the tourney starts you get bonus chips (10,000 or 6,000).

I went by today while I was waiting for my 30/60 seat. Here's what I got:

-Most or all use their daily structure
-X+X+X is an add-on
-Main Event is a glorified sattelite. Top 10% of the day 1 fields come back for day 2 with uniform chip stacks(30k) regardless of day 1 chip count.

Disappointed.

We will have our first tournament at the Isle on May 21st at Noon. We'll start with 30 players (more is staff and space allows, which is most likely) and a $10K guarantee. Buy-in is $500 with $25 entry fee. Optional $10 "Dealer Special" add-on.

After that, we'll start regular Friday and Saturday tournaments in June. Fridays will be at 2pm and will be a $80+$10 with an optional $10 Dealer Special add-on and Saturdays will be at Noon and will be a $480+$10 with an optional $10 Dealer Special add-on. Structures will be available soon. They are designed to created a tournament that gives you plenty of time to play, but doesn't last all day and all night.

We're also doing a tournament to benefit charity (Children's Miracle Network) on May 22nd with Slacker and Steve. This one will be a $100+$10 with an optional $10 Dealer Special add-on. For every entrant, we will donate $25 to the Children's Miracle Network.

Just got our new tournament chips in and they look great. Hope you'll all give our tournaments a try.

Best,
Matt

Are you guaranteeing to run the $500+25+10 even if you don't reach the guarantee? I know it sounds silly but it happens.

Curiously, when I say GUARANTEE, I mean it. That tournament will payout a minimum of $10K. Obviously, if we get more than 20 players it will exceed the guarantee.

That's crazy though. You can't put a guarantee on an event and then cancel it because you didn't reach the guarantee. That kind of defeats the purpose of the guarantee in the first place.

Best,
Matt

Anybody plays Omaha 8 10-20 at Gates. I saw an add at website but I have never seen that game running, any info?

As crazy as it might sound, it happens all the time.
Checked out the isle last night. Very nice room, much nicer than the poker room at the isle in lake charles. Great work man.

I'm just curious how many Colorado 2+2 folks plan on playing this tournament. (not me too poor)

The Gates has had 5/10 Limit Omaha 8 games the last few nights - two games last night and two tonight, plus a 5-10 100 SL game. 5/10 Limit? WTF? Where did that come from all the sudden?

We have 11 tables. We're looking at starting this tournament with 3 tables, more if there are enough open tables (which we'll probably be able to accommodate more people).

If everyone wants to pick a day and time for a $10/$20 Omaha 8 at the Isle, I'll be happy to buy lunch or dinner...breakfast? Let's agree on a day and a time for those interested and we'll do it.

Matt

I would play Wednesday or Thursday or both but I don't know if we have enough players, we need at least five to start the game and maybe some advertisement in the room with special promotion.

Wednesday or Thursday or both. Anyone else like to play a $10/$20 Omaha 8 on either or both of these days? If so, at what time? If we get 5 or 6 that can agree on day and time, we will promote it.

Matt
