Renting a car is probably the best option.

There's no other way to go directly from DIA to Black Hawk unless you want to take a cab and pay an insane cab fare.
Thank you so much for the advice. I will rent a car for sure.

Questions regarding MTTs at Blackhawk:
- 1/ Which room holds the best daily tourneys?
- 2/ How many runners do the 12-noon tourneys get and around what time do they usually wrap up?
Cheers!

Also of note as someone who plays their biggest game (30/60), they WILL deny you a room if you call in advance as a nobody asking for a poker rate.

You will have to have +500hrs in the preceeding 3 months to receive these rates unless they are desparate to fill the rooms.

If they are open, you will get this or better, but if they arent, you WILL NOT get a room on ANY sort of 'player rate' and thats if they will even 'allthow you' to book a room at their $219/nt standard rate.

The regular rooms are ok to crash in but nothing better than the cheapest room on the strip. Once you are in their graces, and can get a suite, then they are decent. Before that, dont bother and book at Lady Luck, Lodge, or in CC..

Well yeah. If you call in advance and ask for the poker rate, yeah, they're going to say no a lot. The poker rate requires you play a certain amount of hours in the poker room (4 hours for Ameristar) to get said rate. They aren't just going to give to anybody because they promise to play.

The proper way to get the poker rate is;
Book room in advance
Play 4 hours
Ask supervisor for room rate (they'll give you some type of form to give to the front desk)
Give said form to front desk
Receive room rate

Spot on.. But don't forget their other location further north on federal blvd around 50th-ish Ave, near the I-70/federal exit. Get a horchata with those tacos

A few years ago there was a 5-100 SL O/8 at the Golden Gates IIRC. Great structure for value betting people to death IMO. I haven't been to Blackhawk in a long time, is this game still a regular thing?

no one actually notices the difference between games in CO and NL games anywhere else, because u seldom have more than $100 on the table (or if u do, bet over $100 anyway) so the law has almost zero effect on the smaller NL games.

where is the cheapest place to stay on fri and sat and the cost, (maybe a casino rate?) and which casino was it that had the video BJ machine with the electronic female dealer paying 3-2 on BJ?

1-2 100 SL runs at the Rose, they did away with the BBJ. 5/10 O8 runs on Saturdays.

I used to live in Denver a few years ago, before the gambling laws changed. Used to play a fair bit at the Gilpin and the Lodge. Heading up there in a few weeks for the first time since I moved, and plan on going up the hill on a Friday. Have barely played poker since Black Friday, so my skills are atrocious. Will probably look for a tournament or two. Where are the best tourneys these days?

And the 30/60 game sounds like a high stakes version of the old 2-5 game. For someone like me who is now a recreational player, if that, that's just too rich for my blood. Are there any other decent limit/no limit cash games going where the rake isn't an absolute killer, bearing in mind this is a one off for me, so it's not like a heavy rake cuts into my profile margins.....- I miss online poker.....

Wow, can't believe this is actually making it to ballot. Wonder how much this would hurt Black Hawk given this would be a bit closer to the greater metro Denver area.

Any word if this casino would be 24/7 or just open during track hours? Wonder what the time frame would be if this passes until opening. 2 years?

On previous page I posted a link to the pdf with the amendment text.

It reads/setup almost exactly as how Blackhawk runs now as best I can tell.

Certainly would re-distribute revenues. Hopefully this passes and the next logical step would be removing "limited" gaming. (shrug)

Black Hawk and Central City would slowly turn into a ghost town. Player pools would split which would be bad, but it would also draw a big new player pool I think. Most employees up here are vehemently opposed to it understandably. Personally I think it could be good.

I agree it could be good (I'd miss BH and CC though), but from what I understand it's almost certainly DOA. Getting signatures is one thing, I doubt the votes are there. They tried this before in the early 2000s and voters rejected it by a very wide margin. The existing casinos spend millions fighting it, understandably.

Can't really see this passing on the ballot, the entrenched casinos will fight it, and they have more $$$ to spend then the one company that will benefit. It'll likely boil down to which side spends the most money of TV ads.

Personally, it's essentially a push for me in terms of drive time (I live in Boulder). However, I wonder if the new proposed racino would even waste space on poker, this is usually (always?) the least $$$/sq ft of casino floor space. So fewer people in BH but no additional poker seems a probable outcome if this passes.
