QFT. I live in Colorado Springs, and even I don't play in Cripple Creek anymore. Actually, I think the last post ITT about Cripple Creek is likely mine.

can confirm. Also lived in the springs for over a year & made the 2 hour trip up the mountain ~3x a week. On the weekends, the lists are sometimes 50+ deep so it's worth the extra gas.

I'm in Littleton and would love to find a small stakes friendly PLO or NLH game around here with no BS.

I've been here a year and have never made it to Blackhawk. The 100 max bet kills my interest a bit. Seems like 1/2 would be the only viable option and people are prob not printing money.

Do any of the Black Hawk / Central City area rooms run any regular tournaments these days?

What's up with Gates? Been quite dead lately? Room shut down at like 6pm? That's freaking weird, even for a monday.

Summer is usually slow, and it is especially bad since a cash game promo was pulled. Rumors of other promos in the works, but biz is slow.

Might pick up the Omaha game, at least for a while. Giving away the 16k bad beat. It lowers qualifiers every Monday until it's hit. For example next Monday it goes from quad 10s to quad 9s, then quad 8s next week, etc.

Glad to hear re: weekend. Are there any spots in the area that actually run weekday tournies?

Gates has 4 daily. The Noon is always the biggest. Today had 50+ entrants.

If the Gates tournament doesn't run, none will.

Ameristar doesn't have tourneys
I don't think the Isle has ran one in months, and even when it does - 1 table.
I don't know about Lodge but from my experience, 2 tables tops.

Gates has the only tournies worth playing unless Lodge is doing some WSOP circuit stuff.

Specifically weekday tournies, you'll want to go at noon.

Thanks all. Work makes noon tough, but may happen occasionally.

maybe the exorbitant rake has finally taken its toll?

As expected, the lodge is not on upcoming wsop circuit schedule... Any realistic chance of another Blackhawk casino hosting it? Golden gates already has HPT and mspt so maybe too much on their plate

The contract for hosting WSOPc events requires 40 tables; therefore, it's unlikely that tournament series will return to Blackhawk anytime soon.

Maybe it's not updated yet?

Lodge agreed to a 4-year contract to host the WSOPc. The Lodge can't wait to get rid of it as they've lost a ton of money from hosting it. It already costs them 250k each year to run it and they lose the revenue from all the slot machines they remove. They also don't really pull in much from the tournament fees and they also don't bring in enough rake from the extra cash games to even justify the costs of the circuit.
I put that in quotes because that's just what I hear around town. Wouldn't shock me if it was mostly true.

If unicleriver is correct about the 40 table minimum (which I believe), then the only other possible place would be A* and again, if it costs that much they probably wouldn't bother.

Not sure if it's true or not but I heard this weekend from a dealer at the Gates that they won't be hosting HPT after this year.

With Pinnacle now owning Ameristar, I'd assume HPT would move here if it moves.

wouldn't they lose out on the franchise fees if they host it at their own venue?

Good point, didn't really think of that. I'd guess there'd be some type of cost-efficiency doing it in-house, but who knows?

Do the actual HPT tournaments even bring in much money for the house? Not sure that it does.

It obviously helps out the entire casino, more blackjack, craps, etc.. but if you're Ameristar and already the most popular place.. not sure if they really even care about hosting the HPT.

There is a reason HPT is one of the few profitable poker tours.
