Coming to BH this Sunday 3/30 thru Wed 4/2. I have tried to read most of this thread but have a few questions.

1. Sounds like the Sunday mtt's @ GG have decent amount of runners, but what about Mon/Tues? Structures seem decent/good for a live daily...any reason not to play?

2. Staying @Ameristar...they have any issues w/ puffing in their rooms?

Any other local knowledge is appreciated!

The qualifying tournament has a much better structure at a $260 buy-in with 30-minute rounds and the last 20% advancing to the ME. Anyone else play or have opinions on this tour?
Every SNG for any of their larger tournaments has always been terrible. You might as well pay $95 and everyone draws a card, highest card wins the seat lol.

I place my racks on the counter, the cashier does her typical thing spreads out the chips and says a number much higher than what I actually have. She spreads out the cash and gets a supervisor to confirm. Supervisor looks a little confused but they go with it. She takes the cash and counts it out on the counter in front of me, I quickly say thank you and double time it out of there.

But my conscience kicks in (it's like that scene in Animal House with the angel and devil on Pinto's shoulders) and before I get to the stairs I turn around and slowly walk back to the podium…

I inform the supervisor who confirmed the count and he says he thought it was wrong, so they check the cameras and it takes about 30min to clear up. They offer me meal comps but I decline. The cashiers are pretty thankful I came back, they kept saying she would have lost her job.

So:
- If it was just a faceless large corporation like the Ameristar, they really wouldn't have missed the $800, but if she would have lost her job cause of this then that would have sucked and I would have been a prick.
- Does anybody know how they true up the daily counts? I mean there's so many chips flying around and cash at the podium, somebody confirms but who confirms the confirmation? When would they have figured out the $800 loss?
- I can look my kids in the eye this morning and tell them Dad did the right thing!

and now I'm expecting a whole lotta run good when karma kicks in during my next session! lol
Banks are counted at each shift and it would have been immediately realized $800 was missing. I don't know if she would have gotten fired, probably not unless it was a pattern of mistakes.

you should have corrected her when you realized there was an overpayment.. especially of 800 bucks lol. It's not like they forgot to ring up an extra taco at Taco bell or something, c'mon man!

Not even close. Most players don't have a clue how a flat payout affects strategy, and consequently bust quickly or unnecessarily. All you have to do is look at bubble play to know most are clueless.

Well obviously I used a hyperbole to prove my point but when you have terrible blind structure coupled with 10 minute blinds and (usually) hand shuffling it more often than should comes down to pure luck. You basically have to play for stacks on any hand you commit to.

That's completely false. People are terrible. There's always an edge.

Assuming you mean smoking in the room.....I do not think any rooms are "smoking" rooms. However, the roof top jacuzzi-area I think would allow smoking since it is outside.

If you mean smoking MJ specifically, then the rules explained to me were that smoking MJ in public places is illegal. You may only smoke MJ on private property.

TIP---If you do use the pool/jacuzzi at Ameristar, robes are available upon request....call the front desk.

First off, there isn't always an edge. Not when house rake is involved.

Secondly, I said I used a hyperbole to exaggerate my point. Obviously a terrible player and a good player aren't going to win the same amount of these SNG's. That doesn't make the structure worthwhile though. Short stack + high blinds results in an extremely high variance tournament which they can continuously pump out over and over to award seats It makes sense from their point of view, especially given the limited amount of tables available. I can't imagine why I'd want to waste my time chasing a small edge in one of those compared to their better structured multi-table tournies or cash games.

They have smoking and non-smoking rooms. I know you can't smoke in public, but just wanted to be sure in my own private room it was ok.

Hey guys
Totally off topic, but I Was wondering if anyone had been to the SKY UTE casino in Ignacio, and how the tournament's structure is looking like?
Planning on being there for April 12th's Tourney.

Thnks

Just try to keep on the down low and you should be fine. Bring some air freshener, and put some towels under the door. You don't want neighbors complaining and then have to deal with all that.

I don't know if it's possible for anyone to be as excited as I am for WSOPc at Lodge. Taking a week or two off work to crush some events!

Strongly disagree. There's a very definite strategy involved for these. I played in 9 of them a year or so ago and cashed in 8/9. I have said several times that I would love to come up and just do the sng's all week but I'm unfortunately usually not in the area during these events.

Same. Hoping to play more than the one I did last year.

GL Wiz! I'll probably play the O/8 and HORSE events, maybe I'll take a shot at the main...

There's a thread in MTT-c Live here: WSOPc-Lodge

So I never did a followup post but I drove up early and played the $40 early sunrise tourney. Finished 4th. Cashed 170. Took that across the street to that packed room and broke even after 6 hours. Drove back to Colorado Springs happy.

I play every saturday at thhe Ameristar's 1/2 game. The rake is ridiculous, but I've been profiting a bit. So if I were to win ten big pots, that's $70 given to the house plus a dollar every time I win a pot of any size, so $80 total....

My a question for you sharks: is it even worth it to try to make money long term?
I would like to move up to 2/5, but my bankroll is too small to play comfortably and I don't like the $100 max bet structure at those stakes.

Give me your input.

Thanks

1/2 and 2/5 are still super beatable. Anybody who argues otherwise is just a break even/losing player trying to justify why they lose.

The minimum rake I've seen in Vegas is $4. That's only $3 less. That's probably only an extra $10/hr that you're losing to the rake. If that $10 difference makes you go from winner to loser, you aren't very good anyway and your win rate wasn't all that high to begin with.
