What an a$$, n I helped this dude retrieve some chips from
Miscounted change! Listen to this I'm seat 6 casino seat 7 , older man seat 8
Seat had 2 green chips 25k 50k total count...seat 8 asks casino to break n make
Change casino does n we go on with play. About 10 hands later I ask seat 8
What he has left in chips he says 50kish I look at his stack n notice he has well over 50k, seat 8 hasn't
Played a hand yet. So casino took notice n realized he gave seat 8 too much change
floor was called over, I stood up for casino n floor favored in casino after video tape review
It came up to be about 40k returned however the funny part was seat 8s only concern was
Making the money as he stated that n tank folded every hand to the bubble
However he ended up being the bubble boy after all..

But the floor ruled in casinos favor mainly cause I vouched
For him, had I known mr.casino wasn't going to tip the dealers a penny I would of kept my mouth shut
n let casino grind it out 40k less. What a jerk!

To be fair the staff as a whole was below average or incompetent in every regard that I observed. That said, I'd still tip even if not especially generous.

OMG, the last name of the dude who won the tourney is "Casino?"

Nah man, it was a prop player so by law his last name must appear as "Casino".

Bagel, zippo, nothing for those guys we harass every week.
Would like to hear comments from Kevmath and QuadJacks crew. Can anybody confirm?

How are the cash games during the WPT? Any mid stakes limit games going?

I went to Ameristar yesterday. I put my name on the list and then called the Isle to see what was happening there. They had 1 1/2-100 game going and that was it. This was at about Noon, though. I didn't call back later, since I was in a good game and was sitting right in front of UFC on tv. A* had 3 4/8, 3 (maybe 4?) 30/60, 2 or 3 2/5/-100 and the rest of the room was full of 1/2-100.

Played there Sunday evening. There were 3 1-2 tables going. Also 1 single table ME qualifier ran. Left at midnight, they still had 1 full table going. Decent room, will be back.
I thought that lighting of tables was not adecvate.

Wow i had no idea that's fascinating! What do you guys consider an appropriate tip when you bink a score like he did?

All he needed to tip was 1 or 2%.

Ok, been awhile since I've been back into live poker since the Net scandals and thinking of heading up to the city more. Just wanted some opinions on best casino to play, tourneys, and curious about the cash games. How does the 1-100 spread limit play? How much to buy in for, what kind of br, etc... Thanks.

Just for clarification I was joking. And the tip is his prerogative. The staff was below average for the buy-in IMO. That said, I'd still tip, but not especially generously.

The Lodge runs tournaments 10am, noon, 3pm, 7pm daily. Your original buy in goes 100% to the prize pool. The $60 tourneys also have a $5 dealer add on (+T2000 chips to the starting T6000) and up to two $10 rebuys (which go to the house). The $100 tourneys have a $10 add on (+T5000 on top of the T10,000 starting stack) and two optional $15 rebuys. Great numbers for the players. Check out their website for the schedule as to which times have the $60 vs $100. Top three finishers of each tourney are eligible for a $5k free roll (last month they chopped at 20 - each pocketing $250).

The Gates runs tourneys at the same schedule with the same buy in amounts but without add ones or rebuys. They just take 25% for the house. I'm not clear why they get as many runners in those tournaments (bad vig compared to theLodge) as theydo, but they tend to have larger fields.

The Isle is looking to make a splash in the tourney side of things, to build on their WPT success these last two weeks. They've revamped their schedule, with events running three weekdays (Tue, Thur, Fri? I'm not 100%, from memory.). Check their website as well. The room is a bit less established, so dealers and floor may not have the same experience level as the other places (which comes purely from conversations with other players -- I haven't played there yet).

I have a large pref for the Lodge's room (especially STAFF!) over the Gates for tournaments. Solid cash players will point to the Ameristar as to where the prime action is, though all four rooms have at least a table of $1/$2-$100 "NL" running.

Obv, going to CC from the Denver area would be silly, but for the Springs or Peublo it's that or underground games.
+1 agree it's very far, is the action in CC any good lately compared to Ameristar/Lodge in BH? I like the tourneys at the lodge, not sure if the CC tourneys are any good?

I really don't play live tourneys, as the variance is crazy and the vig is way too high, imo.

The Midnight Rose does have daily (I think, at least 4 days a week) tournaments in the $100 range that get 25-35 runners. I believe they have 20 minute levels, which is too fast for live, imo. I hear that's five minutes longer than they used to be, and that they increased the starting stacks, but I still think there's easier money on the cash tables.

Garick,

I just moved to Colorado Springs and am pretty stoked that there are casino's within an hour of here.

Which casino's in cripple creek would you recommend? Based on your posts in this thread it sounds like midnight rose is pretty good. I'd be looking to play mostly 200NL Cash games. Anything else that would be good for me to know about cripple creek?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. That's about my impression of the tourney and room scene up there. Still curious how the spread limit 1~100 plays and what a typical buy-in is. I've avoided playing up their much due to the vig since I usually just play limit live. I really had hoped when the limits went up maybe some more O/8 and stud games would spring up, but that spread limit just seems to have killed the creativity. I hate that "poker" and "hold'em" have become so synonymous.

Rose is definitely the center of the Cripple Creek poker universe. FYI, kelbs, Colorado doesn't allow any bet over $100, so 200"NL" is actually a very wide spread game. Really plays pretty much like NL for most hands with a 100BB stack, though. The Midnight Rose almost always has this game and 2-5 "SL", which basically plays like limit (and is horrible) running.

Gold Creek also generally has a game running, but it's usually $2-10 SL, which is only marginally less awful than 2-5. On the weekends they often get another game running, which is sometimes the 2-100 game, and sometimes 4/8 Omaha or mixed.

I made it out to cripple creek over the weekend.

To be honest, I wasn't very impressed. I'm from a small town back on the east coast and cripple creek sort of reminds me of that. Seemed like kind of a run down place in the middle of nowhere..

But, the poker room at midnight rose wasn't that bad and the people were all nice. So I guess it could be worse.

Has anyone played the new tourneys at the Isle after the WPT? Are they getting enough players to run?

Sat afternoon looks like a decent tourney/structure for $100

Oh, yes. Gaming at Cripple Creek (and Blackhawk) was authorized largely because it was needed to keep these old mining towns from dying out. It is, at heart, a run down small town in the middle of nowhere.

Seriously, if you moved here it's worth your time to read this thread, it's only like 200 posts.

But in general Golden Gates is the tournament room. Lodge and Isle have daily tournaments too. Look in this thread and their websites for details.

the sat for $100 is only this week then they go to their new sched where the sat noon is $150 deep stack. structures are very close to their wpt ones so can't wait to get in on these. new tourney sched starts nov 1st and has 3 tourneys a day m-f at 10a 3p and 7p and then 2 a day on sat-sun at 12p and 7p. its all on their website now and way too much to try to put here but looks like a ton of tourneys. all their new tourneys have promos for tourney players too like high hand and a tourney bad beat. they didn't have the old version fri tourney this morning so i'm at gates again. i'll try the new tourneys next week.
