Played the noon yesterday and started off strong, then went completely card dead. Took a couple of bad beats and took a huge hit to my stack right before dinner break (AQ loses on the river to A9 after money going in on the turn and a 9 drops on the river, oi). Nursed my short stack for a long time at one point being down to 4BB, running it back up to ~20BB thanks to winning a race (AJ > TT) and picking up some blinds and antes with my super tight image. Tried to make some moves and was successful a couple of times, passed out 'rungood altoids' after winning a race, overall just having a good time and enjoying having a little under 2/3 average stack coming back from almost nothing. Then lost a race when I got picked off by another short stack when I got out of line with 66 and lost the race against KQ. 2 hands later I had to shove K5hh from the SB into the J5o of the BB for a whole 2.6BB. Big bling had a healthy stack and of course called, jack in the window.. GG.

Overall was pretty fun, first table started kind of soft and I chipped up quickly with some rungood and was chip leader for a bit, then a couple of seats to my right went on a sick heater and busted the action players. Table went fairly quiet for a while while others broke, got a couple other actions players and table was just starting to heat up again when we broke right before dinner break (no reclaiming chips for me). My table image was awesome, with the joke being if I raised be very careful, if I 3bet just gtfo cause I've got the nuts which helped me tremendously but didn't have that at the new table, and by the time I did we broke again argh.

Don't tangle with the older guy in the red, he only plays the nuts. Sunglasses busted early and reentered, then wound up back at our table on my right instead of my left which was awesome before he busted again. Don't shove your flush draw into my A2 two pair Cbet in a limped pot cause you'll turn your flush, but that Ac gave me a boat. Definitely call the maniac with the huge stack with A9, cause he has A8 (sick call, and he wasn't that much of a maniac, he was just using his stack to push everyone around but with some of the hands he was forced to turn over, he probably should have cooled off for a while). The super tanking iPod hippy was a little annoying, more so after he told air force guy on my right and me, US Army girl, that we were murderous scumbags. Air force guy was cool, altoids table was cool, cold table was freezing, starting table was fun, and the dealers and waitstaff were all great.

Looking forward to playing again, just need to figure out how to not get unlucky in a couple of spots so that I have some chips to work with later on. Busted about 6 spots off the money.

Also someone told me that OFC was illegal in Colorado. Anyone know anything about that?

i dont think OFC is illegal but I don't know of anywhere that has it as an approved game via gaming.

Not poker related, but just read a guy accidentally fell to his death from the 11th floor @ Lady Luck on Saturday night (early Sunday morning). Brutal. Didn't realize casinos still had in-room window that opened anymore... at least not more than 1-2".

Hmm, that might have been me that told you about OFC. I meant it wasn't an approved game in CO for the gaming board. I was the fish on your right early on that played tight from being card dead until shoving over the UTG min-raise w/ 22 for 8 M.

Where and what are you gonna play Wetdog?

I'll be at Astar later tonight, playing the 2/5-100 O8. Game is now established on Friday and Saturday nights. I've been running great there, although the game has been mixed-sometimes its a bunch of rocks, sometimes half the players can barely read the board. Dealers are learning fast and getting pretty good at reading the board now.

I was at the Isle during the day and Lady Luck at night.

I don't want to talk about it, other than to say at least the craps table was hot.

Ameristar was nuts the last 48 hours...

no less than 4 tables of 30/60, 3 tables 2/5 and at least 8 1/2 games plus the O8 game!

How early can you register for the HPT? Does it have to be the day of your flight? Or can it be sooner?

Hey everyone, just moved to Colorado from Portland and recently joined the 2+2 forums. I've been here about 2 months and heard about the bar poker scene so I played some of those, and someone mentioned Blackhawk so I got directions and headed up this past Saturday. Wow! I never knew you guys had such a big casino presence. It was interesting to see so many casinos lined up down the road.

Anyways, I wanted to say hello and see what you all thought would be the best day and room to visit to play a choice game? Pineapple, crazy pineapple, omaha, hold'em, and hi-lo variants.

Thanks!
Kris

Was down there on saturday for HPT qualifiers. Have a feeling that it is going to be smaller one with pretty big CPC7 just over. 11am $375 qualifier had 115 runners with 23 people getting tickets. It ended at around 6.30pm with 4k/8k blinds. They let choose flights A,B or C.
The numbers are a bit low, but it allows more room for cash games and $125 SNG's. It seemed like SNG's were going very strong.

Day of cash buy-ins only. All qualifiers are being put in flight A&B, and I think maybe just flight A now(holding lots of spots for direct buyins Friday and Saturday). For the upcoming qualifiers obviously you'll have the option to play later flights(if you qualify Friday you can play Fri/Sat for instance). Not sure how many have qualified but I'd guess 150ish already.

I'm going to be in Denver next week for a course. I expect that I'll have a night or two available for a visit to Black Hawk. Could any locals give me some casino advice? Which casino typically hosts the softest 1-2 spread limit (I realize there's no NL in Colorado)? From my limited skimming of this thread, it looks like Ameristar is the place, correct? Do any Black Hawk casinos still have limit tables? I'm staying at the Sheraton in Lakewood, so I guess my best choice for getting to Black Hawk is via the hourly CasinoShuttle bus?

I was thinking about going to a preseason Avalanche game on Wednesday. Mostly to see how MacKinnon makes out in the NHL.

-Ameristar is going to be your best bet...always has the most games running.
-4/8 limit is always running
-not sure on the bus
-buy something last minute off stubhub or go hang out by a bar/restaurant called "Brooklyn's" which is pretty much in the Pepsi Center parking lot. lots of scalpers there.

Cool. I was going to go with my usual MO of buying the cheapest tickets available ($25, nosebleed upper bowl behind the net) and using the first period to locate better (empty) seats to migrate to during the first intermission. Works well here at home. Unless there is security preventing those sorts of shenanigans.

From what I'm hearing, it sounds like The Isle might do their own tournament series (like the CPC).

Well the Wed/Thurs Day 1 flights combined for just shy of 300 players. Safe to say that Friday/Saturday Day 1 flights will be more. IMO, CPC doesn't hurt the HPT all that much because A) they still run countless qualifiers and B) They get a ton of out-of-town people that come in for the HPT.

I believe the official number after two day 1s was 297. 29 moved on from Wednesday, and 35-37 from Thursday night. I was talking to one of the dealer who said that this was one of the better field he's ever seen on the HPT. That being said, there's still plenty of dead money in there.

HPT broke a million prize pool, guessing about 1.1 million.

Pretty surprised considering the weather and the CPC just finishing.

Btw anyone driving here tonight there is a closure on the lower part of the canyon road. Take I 70.
