Did that game went all night, good action? 2-5 Omaha 8 at Ameristar was going strong and good action. Hopefully we will atract more Vietnameese gamblers and the game will be permanent fixture at Ameristar( this weekend room was full 17 tables).

Was the 2/5 @ Ameristar PLO or O8?

It is not plo it is 5-100 spread limit omaha8. Game is swingy because lots of other bets with stupid one way draws. Guys would push 100 preflop with only low draw but it can be super profitable but be ready for variance.

A* sent out an e-mail looking for survey responses on how to improve the poker room a little while ago. Did anyone else get it?

Ya I got it. The most notable question being preference on moving the room up to the second floor which I thought was a great idea.

Any move away from close proximity to the bar (ie= live band on the weekends) would be a vast improvement.

Seemed like they had quite a few questions about tournaments in the survey

Probably because Pinnacle (who recently bought A*) owns HPT and from what I've heard, HPT's contract with Golden Gates expires in about a year. So there's a possibility A* could be the new home of the HPT.

There are a lot more hurdles for Ameristar to host HPT than the contractual one.

I find it positive that they're actually soliciting feedback (and presumably at least listening to it).

I have mixed feelings on the topic of moving the poker room upstairs. It would definitely be much nicer to have it removed from all the racket where it is now. However, every room I've ever seen moved away from the main casino action has either died completely or at least had serious problems getting good action (including more than one in Black Hawk). It needs to have good foot traffic and feel like it's still in the middle of all the action.

Totally forgot about the Pinnacle/HPT connection... guess that may play a big role in a potential move.

I know Ameristar has been wanting to put in a separate "high limit" table area for a while (the irony with $100 max bets). I've also heard, ideally, they'd like to move table games away from their current location (not so close to the exits) and a little further back into the casino. Wonder if either of these are factoring into a potential poker room move.

Even if they just moved the room back towards the bathroom/buffet entrance, it would be a big improvement and get you away from a lot of the noise of the center bar. The chick singing saturday night was absolute torture.

edit: i guess that move wouldn't get you too much further away but i still think it would be a huge improvement

If the Ameristar will move it will be moved upstairs and that will suck.

I live in colorado and go up to blackhawk about once a month..

Usually been playing ameristar 1/2 i do well either break even or cash out with 2x 3x my BI on a regular basis plus with the 100$ max i dont like the idea of trying to protect a hand at higher stakes.

First question i want to play MTTs or SNGs but am not sure whats available, i know there's schedules available but looking for some insight on what tournies are worth buying in or making a special trip up for and what not.. I like to play big stacks long tourneys vs turbos..

Second is due to the travel im hoping to get a reasonable public transportation or private bus to go up every weekend and back down daily.. I've search around a bit but hopeing for a bus from denver / boulder area..

Thanks in advance

The Colorado Poker Championship 7 begins August 16th. The Heartland will be in September. Also, I don't know if this has made it to the Golden Gates website yet, so here is the Google doc of the CPC7 schedule, structures, points race, results, etc. There are multiple tabs to navigate to reach different things on the google doc.

Ran again tonight, starting around 630. I was on a sick heater and crushed it. Dealers were reasonably competent, especially since it never runs there, and the players were a lot more patient then the regs at the 5-10 limit O/8 game. Last Saturday there was also list but it never got going, despite having enough to get started.

Looking like this game killed the Friday night PLO that was running for a few months @ the Isle.

Sounds like the game tightened up a little from last week?

I didn't play last week, so I don't know for sure, one guy that I know who was there both weeks said that it was a completely different lineup compared to a week ago. Last night there were several solid players, and only a few players who I thought were relatively weak (the lineup kept changing). game started around 630, I left around 1130, some of the players who came in later were a bit looser and more aggressive, and the pots got big. I didn't recognize any of the 30-60 players in the lineup.

2/5-100 O/8 ran again on Saturday night at A*. Game started around 530. By about 930 or 1000 we were playing 8-handed, and the game was fairly bad, I racked up around 1130 and it looked like they were continuing...

Dealers were again reasonably good at reading the board, and the players (gently) intervened when needed.

Oops, sorry for the confusion, I racked up around 11:30 PM. Pots can get pretty big in this game, I buy in for $800 and reload if I drop below $500 (I never want to be all in at this game). I did win around $300 last night...

Hi this is my second post and a repeat from the dumb question thread. I have played a bit in Blackhawk since I moved there. Is there a thread that breaks down the main considerations when making the jump from NL to the 100 game we play in Colorado in HE?

another question... I guess directed at Wizard-50 who I think is an employee of the A* or anyone else who can speak from any sort of knowledge on how it is handled

Early Saturday morning I played at the A* and I ran into a guy who took $300 off me then proceeded to go south 3 different ways over the course of 4 hours.

1st) I was at a table with him (and sent him a good chunk of change) that broke and we went to another table together where he sat down with $~300 chips when he left with $~500. I said something to him asking where his other chips were and it was one of the asian guys who pretends not to speak good english so I didn't really push it. Is this against the rules? The dealer heard me ask him and didn't get involved. Should I have called the floor?

2nd) He plays for a while longer and now has around 400$ in chips. Get's up and moves to a 1-2 game and plays for ~15 minutes and then comes back when the dealer changes and sits down for $200. I openly object and the dealer asks him how long he was gone. I say he was gone for 10 minutes and the guy sputters out in broken english he "came from 1-2" and that seems to suffice for the dealer and again not trying to cause a stink don't press it further. Is this allowed by the rules/what should I have done?

3rd) He simply pulls chips off the table from 220 to 150 but I have decided I am leaving in 2 minutes so I just get up and drive home without saying anything. I know this is against the rules.

In above cases where a rule was broken if its a he-said/he-said situation and no one else at the table was paying attention how is it normally resolved?

Thanks for the help.

There are a lot of house rules variations on this rule, and I'm not entirely sure what A* is. Broken table tends to be ok for players to go south(personally think it's distasteful). There is definitely a wait time(usually 30-60 min depending on house rules) to leave a game and come back with less than you had. It doesn't matter if the player plays 10 minutes of a different game in that time.

FWIW I have had similar issues at A*. Few weeks ago I go in to a short 30 game, and one player is racking up 2k+ and moving to a different game. I sit down immediately and manage to save the 30 game from going down. The guy who took 2k+ off the table and played 2/5 for 15 min comes back with 500.

I talked to the floor at the podium away from the table, which I think is the best way to handle it, and returned to my seat. Floor meanders over and says "that was a different player." I wasn't 100% and didn't feel like arguing so I didn't pursue it.

Don't ask dealers to enforce that particular rule if you can help it. They're in a tough spot of possibly offending or pissing off someone who pays their bills. If the floor doesn't handle it, they're just a coward, clueless, or mistaken.
