Well, the only saving grace is that a lot of $4/$8 players are clueless, and the clueless ones will just say, what the heck, it's only $2 (or $3 for the small blind), when in the blinds, but for decent players, what it does is make the blinds not worth playing with weak hands, especially the small blind, and especially if there is a raise. So instead of $6, $8, $10 or $16 going into the pot from the blinds, you will often have $3. This, of course, reduces pot odds and makes the other players with a clue play tighter, all of which keeps more pots from getting big enough to go over the maximum rake size.
