Just learned of a minor change in CPC5 schedule. The start time of day 1a of the main event has been changed from 6pm on Friday to a new start time of 3pm! As far as I know, all else is unchanged, including my seminar running from 9am-5pm Thursday.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

i thought colorado springs was a pretty big city, seems only denver players in this thread. anyway, ive been told the gold creek poker room outside cripple creek has FREE ROOMS 7 days a week for poker players? surely this cannot be true, and they would often be sold out and rooms not available, something cant be right, otherwise every broke person i know in vegas and atlantic city who plays low stakes poker everyday at the lowest levels 10 hours a day to grind out $50 or so in profit would all be rushing to move there so they could have a free place to live. what am i missing? 2 people swear its true.

i wrote them on facebook to get verification of this, and they have NOT answered me, its been close to 36 hours now, i really hate calling places on the phone but i may be forced to make a phone call. if anyone in CO can live there free of charge long term and just walk to the poker room daily, wouldnt all the rooms be full constantly and filled with very tight players?

for thats the way it always was at the river palms in laughlin, tightest games ever, and even they would sometimes be sold out on a weekend. and im sure they have far more rooms. their room eventually closed down the promo didnt manage to save it.

Just saw this post today... Good timing since @Copokerchampion posted a cpl of tweets that I didn't think were very professional towards another room today on twitter... Thought it was The Gates until I read this. NOT Cool!

Thx

I just heard that @Copokerchampion is the same person who spread that rumor last year that WPT was cancelled at the Isle... Wonder what his beef is with the Isle?!?

The only OFFICIAL Golden Gates page is @TheGoldenGates all of the other accounts are from people not affiliated with the casino. Sorry for any bad information or negative press out there. Just thought I would clear it up.

Yes, Gold Creek in Cripple Creek offers free rooms for 4 hours at the table (subject to availability). Also free food while at table. Unfortunately, it is rare for them to run anything other than $2-10 spread limit. Really to bad. I like that room much better than Midnight Rose, but it never gets much action. I always check Gold Creek first, but usually end up going down to the Rose for 1/2-100.

Edit: Had a friend do what sevencard was suggesting for about a month while he was trying to buy a condo in Vegas. Had his dad sit the 2-10 game for 4 hours while he would grind 1/2-100 at Gold Creek if running, or at Rose if not.

finally got a chance to speak with their manager today, (yesterday bad weather closed down the poker room). found out some bad news, they now allow u to stay only 3 days in a row. that would really make it hard on those needing it long term. of course, that limit is ONLY for those using poker comps instead of paying cash, normal guests can stay longer. u must be out a full 24 hours before checking back in when living there "for free". they said too many were "abusing" it, which is essentially what id have done too, since it wouldve been my ONLY residence while in Co.

also i asked him if they had any of the electronic VBJ machines with the fake women dealers, he said not in cripple creek but he had seen them in blackhawk. where in blackhawk? anyone else seen them?

are they the dealers angels machines that use 4 decks and pay 3-2, or the shufflemaster ones that use 6 decks? the dealers angels ones much better because unlike the shufflemaster ones, u can see when it shuffles. surely at least one reader of this thread has seen them somewhere in colorado? all cripple creek had he said were virtual machines for baccarat, but not BJ.

Any ideas about how this will effect the flagship property of Blackhawk?

Caps off a ton of acquisitions in Black Hawk this year. Surprised Ameristar was bought out, especially by a company smaller than ASCA. Thought they were big enough to stand on their own unless someone like MGM or Harrah's wanted them.

I have no idea, I just work in finance and see these corporate events as they're announced. I love staying at Ameristar Black Hawk when I'm in town, so I hope they don't make any nitty changes.

I just heard a rumor that the 500K bad beat jackpot hit at Lodge Casino last night...?!?

Anyone know anything about it or get in on the action?

Talk about a Merry Christmas for some!

What are the other BBJs looking like up there? I know the star's are around 200k each and the isle layered like 40k, 200k, 300k. Gates? CC have any BBJs? What does the lodge reset at?

Will be up tomorrow and will try to update if no one else does.

Ameristar is at 275k for any Quad Beat...

Lodge is 163k for any Quad Beat...

Isle has three different ways to win...
1) 40k+ for Aces full of 10's through King's beat
2) 200k+ for Quad 2's through 7's beat
3) 300k+ for Quad 8's or better beat.

Not sure about the other rooms in town but would love to know prize amounts and qualifying hands if anyone knows.

Thanks
