pretty sure 8-16 4-8 and 6-12 IS limit. although i would think a lot of people would be more used to PL and NL and prefer it. i know i would love to see pl or NL o8 and crazy pineapple a lot more than limit.

poker room staff and suckers LOVE limit instead because they know the rakes unbeatable.

Polaris,

Not sure what you're asking, are you trying to show there's interest in a private game for BH? Home game?

Anyway, my votes probably shouldn't count. I'd be interested in playing all those games, but at lower levels because a) I'm a fish and b) would just be learning.

Lean toward weekend evenings, but that's not as big a deal for me.

Yes, just trying to gauge interest in certain games/limits and which days the most # of players are likely to turn up for a game. This would be at a poker room in Blackhawk, not a private game.

Well, that was disappointing.

Bally's (old Golden Gates) is having a tournament series, I think because of the re-branding. Today's noon event was a Seniors NLHE tournament.

Went up, thinking I'd play some cards with other old people. Registered ~15 minutes before the start, I was alternate 59.

Apparently, they'd had three dealers they were planning to use for the tournament call in today, and didn't expect to draw such a large field (~120).

To their credit, they were able to call in a couple dealers, and when the morning tournament broke, they put that dealer to work on the Seniors. I waited ~ 1h20m, was still over 20 from playing.

Of course, few people are busting cuz they're all old and cautious. I figured by the time I'd be called, I'd be at too much of a disadvantage with a starting stack, so un-registered.

On the plus side, it was a really nice day to put the top down and take a drive up Coal Creek Canyon, then down Clear Creek Canyon. Plus, only losing ~$14 in gas is almost certainly the best financial outcome for me.

Seems like they're still getting ramped up, and want to be the tournament room.

Bally's doesn't want to be the tournament room; they have been the tournament room since Gilpin's room closed in 2010.

If you ever plan to play in a tournament event that is part of a series, I'd recommend registering at least 45 to 60 minutes before it starts. This will avoid the alternate situation in most cases.

I see I worded that badly. I meant it seems as if they want to be the tournament room, to the near-exclusion of cash.

Seems like, in the past, there would always be a few cash tables open for after you busted. Today, there was one.

May have been just an unfortunate circumstance with bigger-than-expected interest in today's tournament & dealers calling out. Maybe the 3 tournaments/day is just part of the changeover and will lessen.

The Gates has been running 3 tournaments per day for about a decade, with the only difference primarily being the elimination of the 3p.m. tournament several years back and introducing the 10a.m. instead later on. I wouldn't count on them reducing their tournament repertoire in the near future.

There are typically only about 2 tables of cash games running Mon - Wed, 2-3 games on Thur, 3-4 on Sun, and then you have your 5-8 games on the weekends.

I live 5hrs from Blackhawk. It seems from looking at Bravo that the wait times have settled down to a reasonable level. I was going to drive over after work today and stay until Thursday afternoon but I was surprised by the hotel room prices. Monarch 200 per night, ameristar 400 per night, Isle 80 per night. The isle was my only real option but I hate staying at the isle so I’m at home doing laundry instead.

I'd assume everyone had left by now given the game was last night, but must be all-star game hangover?

Just looked at the rate calendar for Ameristar for the next 2 weeks and there are some randomly insane prices... $791 tonight Wed 7/14 (WTF?) and $519 Sat 7/24.

Does anyone know how I would calculate the cumulative odds of any of the 8 top ranked NFL teams to win the Super Bowl based on the current Vegas NFL futures? I'm planning to bet BIG on Buffalo this year and would like to hedge my bet by betting on the other 7 top rated teams so my bet is basically a risk free bet (not truly risk free of course, but if I do have a 93.6% chance of breaking even, it's pretty much risk free).

I calculated the odds at 93.6% that one of the top 8 teams will win the championship based on the odds linked below. Is this right?
https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/futures/

I added up the denominators of all of the fractional odds and arrived at 1501.5. Then I added up the denominators of just the top 8 team's fractional odds and arrived at 95.5. Then I subtracted the total of the top 8 teams from the total (1501.5) and got 1406. Then I divided 1406 into 1501.5 and got 93.6%. I think this math is correct.

Also, does anyone know of any teams that were not top 8 in the power rankings at the season start who ended up winning the SB? 2007 Giants is all I can think of, but I'm sure there are others.

Seems like a post better suited for either the Sports Betting or Probability forum. I don't see what it has to do with Colorado poker.

I spent about 27hrs at the Monarch tables over 2.5 days.

Very nice room, quality staff, and had plenty of fun action that can't possibly last very long.

What I would like to see changed is the option of paying time at 5/10+ NL and 5/5 PLO instead of rake and being able to run the hand more than once. It's supposedly a gaming issue which is probably true.

"can't possibly last very long."

Oh my friend, you greatly underestimate the power of degenerate gambling. People find a way to make it look like they have bottomless pockets. Whether that involves diverting any savings for retirement, college tuition for kids, saving for the rainy day fund, foregoing any other hobbies that might cost money, people will find a way to fund their poker habit.

You wouldn't believe how bad of a financial situation many players are in. It may look like they have money, but many are living in debt or paycheck to paycheck.

I got there between 4-5 pm (after calling in) both Friday and Saturday and did not have to wait long at all.

This wait list part is not true. They have plenty of dealers and always open new games when the lists grow.

Confirmed. And oftentimes 75% of names on the list are call-ins so if you're there in person you just jump ahead.

Bored at work and this popped into my head...

Looks like those of you who predicted 5/1 would be the death of LHE in Black Hawk were right. Wasn't my game personally, but always seemed like there was enough of a player pool to keep the 30/60 game running. A lot of my non-Colorado poker friends even knew about the game at Ameristar & would ask me if it was still running whenever the topic of poker would come up. Did everyone just hop over to 2/5 or 5/10 since those can play bigger now with no cap?

Aside from a few instances of seeing 50/100 running at Monarch (and 100/200 once), seems like LHE is no mas? I'm not checking Bravo every single day, but not even seeing interest lists posted at this point when I do. If nothing else, would've thought Ameristar would've tried to keep that game going since Monarch seemingly took everything else from them.

You guys think it's an issue of dealer/table shortages (still) or is LHE in BH just dead now?

The 30/60 game still goes every Friday and Saturday at Monarch, begins in the early afternoon.

Oof... must be more out of the loop than I thought. Felt like it used to run 6-7 days a week pre-Covid and I've barely seen it on Bravo as of late. Guess I was looking at the wrong times (or just spaced on it).
