I called Ameristar a few hours ago and was told there was no information on poker or table games.

That's Blackhawk, CO for ya. They don't even update Bravo Poker Live with scheduled reopening news. How are people supposed to know?! Gilpin County government doesn't update their site that table games are reopening either.

Any other poker market in the US would post updates to their website or bravo if they use that platform.

I would expect Ameristar to open on Friday, 1 day after Golden Gates just as was the case on September 11th. Gates opened on Thursday last time and Ameristar on Friday. 60% chance.

They have not confirmed it yet. In response to a tweet asking if the announcement applied to poker Ameristar responded:
"We should have new information on poker very soon!"

They also wrote:
"Hi, we should have more information on when poker will be available in the coming days. We are happy to be bringing back blackjack, craps and roulette this Thursday at 2pm!"

That's not encouraging for it opening this week.

odds gates gets 2/5 on thursday? maybe they just poach the 2/5 action going forward?

Golden Gates website says open. Don't see anything about masks/plexiglass/max players/etc.

Ameristar & Isle say closed still.

Here now. It’s fine. They won’t start 2:5. At least the employees are respectful unlike ameristar. This place has potential once laws change and CO has real poker. Hopefully they end ameristar.

What's so bad about Ameristar, and why does it need to be "ended"?

Awful customer service. Atrocious comps. A horrible floor person (short haired girl who is extremely rude) unwilling to take feedback. Unwilling to start games. Should I go on? I hope Gates destroys Ameristar.

If anyone didn't know (like me), apparently Ameristar re-opened poker room on Thursday. 6-max, $3 max rake, masks required.

Is Ameristar going to accommodate more tables? Took 4 hrs to get a seat last night so I ended up at Golden Gates instead. They will lose customers to other rooms if they don’t step it up. Plus the staff at the gates is much nicer; and you actually get comps for playing there. With NL coming here in a few months, poker is going to BOOM, these rooms better be ready

I stopped going to Blackhawk on weekends because waiting 3-4 hours for a seat is not worth it. Even at Golden Gates the wait is crazy. When Monarch will open poker room?

I've only played poker once since the pandemic started (at Gates). It has always been a mystery to me why Ameristar is the most popular room (or was before the pandemic). Their low level of comps alone should be reason to avoid them. Yet they use to be the only place you could count on to have a 2/5 game, so if you want to play bigger than 1/2 or 1/3, they were often the only game in town (Gates would sometimes get 2/5 going on the weekend). But for some reason, Ameristar always got the bulk of business from the (mostly Asian) higher level players.

Simple, people like to play in nice casinos and GG is old and rundown.

I ended up going to GG Friday and Saturday. Awesome games, lots of action! Casino is old, but draft beers are a plus, $2 comps are a plus and the poker room is an actual poker room, which is awesome. I see myself going to golden gates more often from now on. 4hr wait at Ameristar is just wrong

Best part about gates is the floor people give a **** about the customers. Once again awful awful attitude and treatment from the short haired floor lady at Ameristar- she is literally driving people away. Can’t wait until monarch opens their room as well. I’ve stopped going to Ameristar when she works and I play a ton of hours.

Funny story about the Pixie hair girl from Ameristar. Call in and give my name. John E, get to the casino and I only see John B on the list. I tell them it’s me but should be John E, they add me to the list and I wait and wait. Finally call John B for 1/3 so sit down, pixie runs up to me and tell me the seat is for John B, let her know that I cleared that up with another person on the podium, she walks away. They finally call John B for 2/5, I raise my hand and she comes up to me saying it’s not me, that’s there’s an actually John B that is on the list. I tell her it’s me, she doesn’t budge. Makes me wait 5 minutes then allows me to switch to 2/5 game. She just does NOT like being wrong

I run into this problem ALL the time, as my name is Dave P. Instead of using the name Dave P for poker call ins I just use my middle name Harvey. Good luck finding another Harvey. Extremely rare nowadays. I hate when they get my last initial wrong even when I use a word phonetically to avoid the P rhymes with B C D E G T V Z issue.

Yup. She needs to spend time in another legit poker room to learn about customer service. Her attitude is basically I’m always right and everyone else is wrong, not “the customer is right, I’m here to help them have a good experience” - I pray for the day another room gets consistent bigger games!

Ameristar refusing to take call ins. I’m officially done playing there. Onto the Gates! I can’t wait until Monarch opens. Ameristar clearly cares nothing about poker or customers. What a complete joke.

Is the bad beat jackpot really big or something? They halted call ins when the big one was going $750,000ish

Just looked at Bravo and it's around 525-ish. Also states "no call-ins" on there, too FWIW.

Guessing(?) it's probably due to the huge waitlist #'s they've had for 1/3 & 2/5 since reopening.
