Would Ameristar actually give us a table? They're full on Friday, right?
I've been told the same thing by a casino room manager in regards to razz, so we have been playing HOSE in Cripple Creek.

We hit the Isle, nice room. We got a second 1/2 game going, but ideas of getting a mixed game going that wasn't just the 3 of us seemed slim/none/and they were worried that we'd break their single remaining 1/2/100 game in the process. Sad to see such a nice room so empty. I have no idea how they could get people in the room, I think the BBJ was $250k so that isn't enough. With its own bar/drink service, cheap food served at the table, and no slot noise, I can't image how people don't love the place.

We hit the Ameristar to see their normal packed room. Huge lists. I think there were 3 30/60 games with a 50/100 interest list. We had dinner there. Didn't bother to try to play. I think a couple lists had 10+ people on them, so I'm not sure why there were two tables vacant, maybe the shuffling machines were broken or something. These guys obviously rule the BH poker market.

We played a little while at the Lodge. Two other people joined me on a 10/20 interest list. I'm not sure how many it would have taken to get the game going. I told the floor I'd play HU, but they never believe you. He did go on the mic and tell people a list was starting, so kudos and great service, imo.

Wonder if we can do that?

I normally just play the big LHE game at Ameristar, so I've never been to the Isle and I haven't been to the Lodge since just after the Hyatt opened (the current Ameristar offered the first no-smoking game in BH). I'll put a final time and place here. PM me with contact info if you want me to get in touch.
I'm skeptical about Stud 8 and Razz not being allowed. I have seen Stud/8 games (several years ago) at Harvey's (It was Harvey's then) and Gilpin. I don't recall ever seeing a Razz game. Sometimes Casino people will BS about state laws or gaming regulations when somebody complains or asks them to do something they don't want to do. Of course it's possible that regulations have changed since then, but I really can't imagine why Gaming would bother to ban a game that nobody spreads any more. Of course, this is Colorado Gaming, so nonsensical rules are not unheard of.

Instead of becoming a Hard Rock or a House of Blues (the company initially touted a rock 'n' roll-themed national brand was in the works), Luna went with the less-obvious name Reserve Casino Hotel.
Yeah, I think that's corporate-speak for "The deal fell through"

Something I have done the last couple of times I played the 2/5-100 at Ameristar is phone in for the waiting list. They will put you on the list with the proviso that you have to check in at the podium within an hour. This is enough time to have dinner or drive up from Denver (from the west side, anyway), and gets you on the list sooner.

Thanks for the tip. We were trying to hang out together, and that was never happening with the room that crowded. Plus, I couldn't have resisted playing in the 30 game had we played there.

RR showed the list of allowed games above, and it was definitely on the list. It could have been the polite way of saying "our dealers don't know how to deal it, and we don't want to spread a game that would cause trouble".

A) Any suggestions for room? Any room manager feel free to PM me.
B) Anyone willing to play?
C) Any suggestion for a better place to post than this? Start a new thread? B&M playground?
D) I'd hope that I could drag in 4-5 people I know, but I'm willing to play my buddy HU (he's better than me and I'm happy to lose for entertainment). Thoughts as to how to get other players to fill a table?
My buddy and I will be heading up this Sunday, we would both play. We'll be at GG to try to start the O/8 game around 1230, that crowd could easily sustain interest in HORSE instead. The O/8 plays 5/10 now, so I'd suggest that for stakes.

hasn't run these past two weekends. I will tell you the 5/10 game is killed at least 25% of the time. Its full of terrible human beings, such as demetri, who tend to walk too much. Expect 3 people to be gone constantly and a ton of verbal abuse from a bunch of old people. Expect them to curse like sailors There are a few positives. The loud annoying people are terrible at this game. They comp you 5$ an hour and there is no bad beat jackpot at the gates. Bring headphones with you so you can tune out their crap.

heh, i'm semi-regular (whenever i can convince my wife to play or she goes on a business trip) at the 5/10 O/8, i know all the peeps (we probably know each other by sight), demetri hates me cause i wont let him be table captain, or maybe because he's just a dik (or maybe cause i'm a dik, who knows). i'd much rather play the must move table, usually better win rate and better people. leaving to play in 45 minutes, i'll PM you my name and description.

How has The Lodge been since the clearout of the former regime? (sorry juanez, sucks to hear)

I know they hired "TM", who used to be the Venetian Tournament Director, but wonder if he's done anything yet since coming in.

Met the new guy at The Lodge Saturday; he was pleasant. The room was the busiest I've seen it in a while- the 3 and 7 pm tournaments were capped at 2 and 3 tables because there weren't enough dealers. I'd guess from noon to 11 pm when I left, all but the tournament tables and maybe 1 or 2 others were full. I didn't pay attention to which games were being spread- they mostly looked to be 1/2.

Rumor has it that even though he was a tournament guy in Vegas, he will be focusing on building back their cash games after losing so many players to Ameri*. Supposedly they'll be eliminating the 3 pm tournament.

I tried to start 2/5 or 30/60 at lodge but no luck thus will have to stay with Ameristar
I might try to play O8 at GG tomorrow. What time the game usually starts?

I didn't see nearly that many full tables at about 2:00 on Saturday and all were 1-2. And it was old-ish and rock-ish, but there was no list so I got into a boring 1-2 game immediately until Ameristar paged me for my seat.

Much better action at Ameristar (2-5 game), plus I got lunch delivered to my table which the Lodge waitress told me wasn't possible. I asked to start a 2-5 list at the Lodge and I got a look like "huh?" My name never even went up to start a list. WTF?

Ameristar is the place if you want action and service IMO. And add in the $400K bad beats and what the hell? I don't play for the bad beats, but if the joint has the best action, best service AND a huge bad beat lottery, why the hell go anywhere else? The floor staff can be hit and miss sometimes but that's the same everywhere and all in all it's a no-brainier. Just get there early or you'll have to wait hours for a seat and in the meantime settle for a boring rock fest at the Lodge or horrendous, bad-attitude staff at the Gates where games break every time a tourney starts. Isle...not worth talking about. Oh yeah, the Station, or Lady Luck I guess. I haven't been there in months and months but I haven't even heard anyone mention that place in a long time. Not worth talking about either I guess.

I'm not a tournament player, so no opinion on those.

Because the rake is ridictaculous? I still play there for the action reason above, but would love to see the Isle get more action. Nice room, quiet location, seems well run.

Agree the the Isle should get more action but they are not doing anything to promote.

As for rake it's Blackhawk where they rip you off because there isn't much competition......

I thought the Lodge was pushing to spread 2-5. Was told giving good comps, surprised they didn't start a list for you.

Yeah, that was the opposite of what I saw when I was there. It was 10/20 LHE, but they snap-started a list for me and even went on the intercom and advertised that they were starting a list. I found them to be both friendly and helpful.
