Why don't you go check it out and let us know?

Ok so I've checked it out. Packed. 7 tables of 1/2, I think like 5 tables of 2/5. Wait list about 20min long at 6:30p. So far mix of young and old guys at this first table, and pretty good action. Of course I'm immediately down $50...

This is at the Ameristar. The Lodge is of course dead and depressing.

There is no true no limit in Colorado, due to state law that the maximum bet is $100. Ameristar has 2/5-100 spread limit and 30/60 limit.

Yup, hpt confirmed to return in april...

Rumour is that the Isle will also return the WPT regional series on the heels of that hpt event,
Late april, early may...

Lightly browsed through this thread, so apologies if I missed it.

But...in Colorado for a couple days. Are there any rooms in Blackhawk/Central City that spread O8 on a daily basis? If so, would love info on where and at what stakes.

Thanks.

Golden Gates will usually have an 08 game running on weekends. Not sure about midweek.

Only Golden Gates. It's kinda spotty during the week, though. It's either 5/10 FL with a full kill (!) or 5-100 SL (way fun and often crazy, but I don't think it has been running much during the week lately). For what it's worth, you also get $5/hr comps at 5/10 so you can get a decent steak for next to nothing with a short session.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot.

Did you actually go to the Lodge? I played at the Lodge many days during the holidays, and they were very steady. They averaged 8-10 live games plus a few tourney tables each night I was there. And there was lots of loose action, but I did encounter a few dead tables of BBJ players chasing the jackpot.

It seems many players are coming over from the Ameristar because the Lodge has a huge room share to their BBJ. $109K of the $309K BBJ goes towards all live action players. Ameristar has zero room share.

Did I read the sign wrong, or is the max rake at Ameristar really $6+$2? If so that's pretty insane.

It was 5+2

Yes, I went and checked out the room while I waited for my seat at the Ameristar. There were 4 tables , empty seats at all, and no list. Didn't look very exciting

Did anybody else get the email about the "Poker Car Giveaway" at the Lodge this Saturday? Apparently you get an entry for every 2 hours of play, and the drawing will be held at 6pm. 9 winners get cash, 1 winner gets the car.

Question...do you have to play on Saturday to earn an entry, or can you use hours from previous visits?

A buddy or two and I are thinking about trying to start a mixed game closer to the weekend in Blackhawk/CC. We're negotiable on the mix, maybe start with HORSE and work from there? I was thinking about talking to Matt at the Isle. To keep it friendly, I would suggest 4/8.

A) Any suggestions for room? Any room manager feel free to PM me.
B) Anyone willing to play?
C) Any suggestion for a better place to post than this? Start a new thread? B&M playground?
D) I'd hope that I could drag in 4-5 people I know, but I'm willing to play my buddy HU (he's better than me and I'm happy to lose for entertainment). Thoughts as to how to get other players to fill a table?

^^^^^^ I'd play. Hard for me to get up there on a regular basis, but if I knew ahead of time I could plan.

I would join if we would limit this game with flop gamea(holdem, omaha, omaha 8). Isle is always willing to open new game but it is dead. I would suggest lodge and at least 10/20 in order to beat rake.

I was thinking Friday. It turns out that Stud/8 and Razz are not allowed in the State. Who knew? I was hoping to find a room we could talk into a reduced rake, until at least the table fills. Since mixed games don't qualify for the BBJ, we're saving $2/hand no matter what. A couple of the guys I talked to can't play higher than 4/8, but we could always talk overs. Wonder if we can do that?

I normally just play the big LHE game at Ameristar, so I've never been to the Isle and I haven't been to the Lodge since just after the Hyatt opened (the current Ameristar offered the first no-smoking game in BH). I'll put a final time and place here. PM me with contact info if you want me to get in touch.

Since when is Stud/8 illegal?? Sounds like you have been getting some bogus info.

Also the guys at isle are a-holes about starting new games unless you get 12 people. A lot of talk about doing what the players want ... until you are there. Makes me sad because I really wanted to believe. I also like the 9 person tables.

GG had pretty regular mixed games going about 5 months ago but they died. I think that unless we will start a game at Ameristar -it will not survive. What about starting a game at Ameristar on Thursday?

I got an email from a poker room manager that said "gaming regs do recognize Razz or 7-stud hi/lo in Colorado" in response to a query about starting a HORSE game. It wasn't a random stranger who said it... oh, it was a stranger, but one who runs a poker room.

Would Ameristar actually give us a table? They're full on Friday, right?

Ameristar is so freaking loud. I bet you if we got a table, we'd be shoved right next to those really loud wizard of oz slot machines.

Anybody played at Reserve(former Fortune Valley), they just spent 20 mil on renovations(based on Hard Rock theme) and will start big advertising campaign. The casino and poker room are really nice and hopefully all the advertisement will attract new poker players.
So, we could try to start that game at Reserve on Friday, just a thought

Thanks RR. I guess HORSE is on the table if we could get people to play. Offering to play RS&E with MelchyBeau is a huge spot, imo. It is like offering him the Pats and 5 1/2 this weekend.
