for someone trying to step into live casino play more consistently here in CO, would it be better if i play some of the dailies at Golden Gates or fri/sat 1-2 at Ameristar? I can win at the 5nl and 10nl games online so I'm not so much worried about getting stepped on as I am with blowing my whole roll.

If you can beat 10nl over a large sample then I don't see you having a problem in any of the games except for the variance. If you are new to live poker, one thing you will notice is that there will be many many many more multiway pots that are bloated beyond belief.

You understand this totally depends on your edge to start? If you don't beat one of the formats, bankroll doesn't matter. Then you get to issues like how often the tournament chops (reduction of variance ). Beating online cash is a good sign, but I'm worried that knowledge of tight and aggressive online games may still have a learning curve vs loose and passive live opponents at 20x stakes. Your default game is making bluffs that nobody calls without a monster? You're going to see opponents who won't fold pairs.

All this to say I like your chances long run, but short term we can't give specific advice.

Variance way higher in donkaments, though, especially fast paced dailies. Chance of blowing your roll is much lower in cash.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about it more last night and I was thinking about how fast the dailies i have played in go normally and it seems like a waste of money unless its a super cheap one and you're going with a friend or something, especially when I noticed most of them are only 20 min levels? thats super fast. I dont want to pay $60-$130 to play max 4ish hours and possible lose due to variance or getting blinded out and having to shove.

thanks again.

Nils making a deep run in the 888 tourney at the WSOP! Currently 8th with 2.78MM, and 12 people left...He's locked up at least $44K, but get that $888,888 first place money and the bracelet.
Good luck Nils!!

Congrats on your bracelet Wiz! So cool for a former local to take it down. Also I happened to see you on LATB a while back. Good stuff, you played well.

P.s. we don't know each other (although it's possible you'd recognize my face not sure) I just know who you are from your time at the Gates and the handful of times I played there back then.

Anyone playing the HPT in Black Hawk over the next 10 days? I'm interested to see how the attendance will be affected by the ongoing WSOP.

I'll be there for the deep stack. Not sure about the ME.

Heading to Denver for a month wondering if there are any limit holdem games that run that are smaller then 30/60.... Any casinos run 8/16, 10/20, 20/40 games or is all just nl games? Also how is the 30/60 game?
Thanks

Occasionally a 10/20 game will break out, usually at Golden Gates. Bravo is your friend here. You can start a list, it might run but it's pretty sporadic. Note that the 1/2 and 2/5 games are spread limit rather than no limit. $100 max bet and raise, unlimited bets heads-up and uncapped buy in.

The 30/60 game is reputed to be a good game, if your bankroll can handle the variance...

Oh yeah: the game plays with a 2/3 kill to 50/100 if you win 2 pots in a row, 2nd pot >= $300. And you keep the kill until you lose a pot.

Is there more than one bracelet winner who's a reg in that game? I played a couple of hours of O8 in Vegas a few weeks ago with the guy you're likely thinking of, that's at least as much as I've played with him in the last 6 months or so at Astar. The biggest regular threat now is the guys who wear Blue Jays gear and say eh.

I play a 75/150 game in Maryland that plays a lot like the ol 30/60 game. Also I'm heading to CO in September to see fam and play HPT so I'll probably put in a 30 session for old times sake! Hope to see some familiar faces when I'm there.

Any casinos running $2/$3 NLHE in Black Hawk? That's my new favorite game.

There is no true no limit in black hawk, there is a $100 max bet. Your choices are 1/2-100 and 2/5-100 spread limit and 30/60 (50/100 kill) limit.

How do you get a $100 max bet on $30/$60? That's not even a raise.

Is that a state law or something?
Colorado Poker (Black Hawk, Central City, Cripple Creek) Quote

Yes, it's a state law.

You can put in multiple raises of up to 100, so in spread limit it could go bet 100, raise to 200, raise to 300 etc.
