Working in Colorado Springs the next couple of months - what's the latest on the Cripple Creek poker scene? I'm assuming 1-2-100 is the standard? Do any of the rooms run tourneys? TIA.

Been gone for a year, so my info is outdated, but at that time, pretty much only the Midnight Rose reliably had games in Cripple Creek. 1/2-100 was the standard at that time, and they had daily tournaments, but I never played them, so I can't say much about structure, vig, etc.

gates is a dump with the highest tourney rake in all of the USA.

avoid at all costs.
As far as I can tell, the health department up there does nothing regarding food safety in the Blackhawk/Central City casinos. I often encounter food stored at unsafe temperatures in the buffets.

That seems to be the case from what I've found elsewhere on the net. Thanks for responding. Working my arse off right now, but I'll update when I get a chance to check it out.

Have fun up there. The drive is beautiful in good weather, and sucks coming home in the snow at 2am after a losing session.

I'll be in Aurora for a couple days for work next week, any poker close by? Looks like all the casinos are a 3 hour drive.

Hello all,

I am heading up the hill tomorrow night after a long hiatus. I could use an update or two.

Am I right in reading the the Gates is trying to get rid of their BBJ? Perhaps I should play there. What is it up to?

Also, did Omaha 8 move to Ameristar and what limits are played? Is Ameristar or anyone else getting an inbetween hold'em limit yet (10/20)? All I remember were the spread limit games and then 4/8 and 30/60 with a half kill.

Appreciate any info! I was hoping for a 5/10 Omaha 8 or a 8/16 to 10/20 hold'em but I guessing I will need to make other plans.

Mo

No mid limits yet. Still just 4/8 and 30/60 with a half kill. Gates has lower their BBJ qualifier and all three jackpots are at 50k. Ameristar is now the place for O8. They spread 2/5-100 hi/lo Fri/Sat. Usually get 1-3 tables.

Since everyone played "follow the leader" where the high-hand jackpots are concerned, wonder if Ameristar & Lodge are going to eventually kill their BBJs now too.

Mid limit games get going about once in five blue moons. I have played in $10/20 limit games at A* and Gates, but we are talking twice in about 5 or 6 years. You will often see an interest list, but it's extremely rare to actually get a game going.

Played at the Midnight Rose last night from about 8:30 pm - 2:00 am. Decent enough room with two 1-2-100 games, a 1-2-10 game, and a crazy 5/10 full kill O8 game going. I was most impressed with the friendly nature of the staff and players and how competent the dealers were - all of them. Ended up about $400 and the cop that pulled me over for going 37 mph in town (25 mph limit apparently) let me off with a warning. Winning!

Almost forgot: the big talk last night was how the Cripple Creek town council approved 24-hour liquor in the casinos beginning July 4, 2015. I always assumed the cutoff time was state law. Any word of this happing in BH/CC? Sounds like a cluster waiting to happen.

Per Bravo...

Player must be checked in to their seat 30 mins prior to drawing, must be at their seat, and must not have missed a blind.

$150 every 3 hours from 10am-7pm 7 days a week.
$200 very half hour from 10am-12am every Saturday.
$150 every half hour from 10am-10pm, as well as $100/hour from 10pm-4am valid Sunday-Friday.

Looks like they also have $500 royal flush payout (have to use 1 card).

thread search is pretty dated on these items so allow me to ask ....

So are room comps in blackhawk available in any manner or fashion? Ameristar? Other?

Has anyone tried to use MyChoice rewards with MGM/Mlife properties? (in LV)

Can't speak for comps solely based on poker, but comp rooms @ Ameristar are fairly easy to get Sun-Thurs if you have any quasi-decent amount of pit/slot play (doesn't have to be black chip type action). Worst-case scenario, they'd likely offer a discounted poker rate for rooms given "x" amount of hours. If you call the poker desk directly, I'd guess they may be able to give you this info.

Never used my MyChoice rewards in Vegas (yet). I get offers for the different MGM properties via Ameristar ever so often. Assuming they're based off my play at Ameristar. Comp rooms at properties X,Y,Z... discounted rooms at A & B. Assuming you have the offers, you just have to call them and book it... pretty easy.
