All,

had a question about Blackhawk's Sunday night action, but asked in new "less modded" B&M forum. If you have an answer, please post it here:

Trying to find info and to support new forum.

last time i went to GG i really realized what a horrible poker room it is. the floor was completely rude to me. the dealers are not very good. they never seem to be able to track my comp hours. the players are nits and the action is mind numbingly boring.

i have been playing over at the ameristar and it's nice. tons of action. i was there yesterday, and there were 3 30/60 games, 3 2/5/100. maybe 5 1/2/100 and a 4/8 game.

would be nice if they would spread the O/8 game there but i can see why they don't need it.

obviously the $2 jackpot drop is brutal

Do the different casinos have a different drop for bad beat?

Yes. I think they all max out at $2 but they all take it at different stages. Isle takes one at $20 and one at $40, the ameristar takes the first one at $6.

Pretty sure they are all at $2 in Blackhawk. 5+2, so brutal I think Ameristar is the only place that rakes uncalled bets, that's the one that kills me.

From one of the other players at the final table, so this is hearsay. The old guy was on oxygen and his tank ran out. He then had cardiac arrest. His son was there and went to get a backup tank before it ran out, but did not get back in time. The paramedics took 15 minutes to get there and he was dead by that time. It was a mess.

It was announced at the Golden Gates last Friday that they're paying out their current BBJ, but then eliminating it. No more BBJ drops there.

Really? That's very good news. They did that earlier this year with their O8 BBJ. In that case to speed up paying out the BBJ, they lowered the requirement for it to just Aces full beaten. Plus they also gave special higher comp rate -- so it was an all-around good deal for the players. Too bad I didn't know WTF I was going at O8 :=)

going up Wed with some friends for some $1-2-100 NL. used to play at the Lodge 100% of the time. i remember when the wait list was like 2hrs or longer on a Fri night. what happened to that place? it's just dead. i mean there may be a couple of games going, but the vibe is terrible. about a month ago tried playing there on a Sat night - nitty table, bunch of old rocks nursing short stacks. and 3/4 of the time, we played 5-6 handed cause there was no list and other players were out of their seats eating or something. same thing two weeks ago on a Fri night. just a terrible table with no action. what happened to all the crazy Asians at the Lodge? (and I am Asian!) then head to the Ameristar where it was packed - good action, lots of gambool. and it's also funny to see all the old Lodge dealers / floor people now working at the Ameristar.
anyway, hope this Wed before Thanksgiving is a busy night with a lot of young ballas getting their drink on to start the holiday!

Lodge used to always have a huge BBJ, now its Ameristar, so they attract all the dumba$$es chasing that. And it feeds on itself. I'd love to play there more but what am I going to do while waiting > 1 hr for a table, play slots?! Someone posted about them raking uncalled bets-is that really true?

As to complaints about GG dealers, the old school dealers are mostly good but the new ones are awful, especially at the O/8 tables that I frequent. With the end of the BBJ, GG will essentially become a tournament room-they are getting huge numbers there.

AFAIK Golden Gates is the only room to play O/8, although post #218 suggests that the 5-100 O/8 on Tuesday (today) may be at the Isle.

at GG there is usually at least one 5/10 O/8 with a full kill going by the early evening. the 5-100SL (SL=spread limit since you sound like you're from out of town) O/8 is kinda hit or miss these days, but if it does play it's superfun-a good mix of nits and insane gamblers. I would guess that the big game would play Wednesday night because of Thanksgiving.

Golden Gates just confirmed via Facebook they're shutting off the bad beat rake, great news IMO!

are they doing this to be nice to the players or is this part of the new regime that is coming in with the new ownership? the new owners are a total slot company and getting rid of the bad beat is the first step in getting rid of a poker room for slots. it may be completely unrelated but the timing seems coincidental, but it may be exactly that...just a coincidence? i'd love to see all the bad beats gone and the rake with it.

Or maybe they can just take a straight $6 rake and it'll still be better than $7?

$6 is always better than $7 and $5 is better still. although $6 with no bbj just means you're paying almost as much with no chance of getting it back. i was always fine when the bbj was $1 because i felt like you had a remote, lottery-like chance of getting it back. with a straight $6 rake, you have no chance of getting it back.

So now can we start a limit hold em game at Golden Gates with the new $5 max rake structure? $4/$8 - $10/$20 or so? Maybe Sundays at 3:00pm?

Will be playing the noon tourney on Friday @ GG. Would enjoy meeting any 2p2 members who are up there. Dark green Rush hoodie is always with me somewhere.

Let's make it 10/20, I should be at GG this Sunday. I would suggest starting at 2 rather than 3, though-the 3 PM tournament tends to draw down the number of players.

I agree with the sentiments here, but I have two questions/concerns (independent of opinions on any individual room involved). First, I've never seen GG give a rat's ass about LHE. Second, do we want to split the already thinning LHE pool between two rooms? Should we try to get a 10/20 going first at A* and then move it to the better rake structure at GG?

A* is admittedly damn near openly hostile to opening anything other than 2-100, 5-100, 4/8, and 30/60, but I've also received similar crooked looks from GG floor staff when I mention anything to do with LHE.

I don't think I'll be able to swing a Sunday trip up there, but I'm planning on going up to BH some time this afternoon (probably within 30 minutes). I'll see if they'll start a 10/20 list wherever I go (probably A*, maybe GG).

At A* now and have started a 10/20 list. We'll see if it goes.

I was a bit surprised to see they had an interest list for 5/10-100, which seems like a bit of a ******ed structure to me.
