This went on for 2-3 hours. No one in the game knew what they were doing, but only one guy I would consider bad. Later in the afternoon, more people started coming around. Overall, the game is definitely not worth it with the $7 rake, but I was pleased to get the promotion and would play again if I was always being paid $10/hr. Everyone kept talking about the BBJ. I wish they would just take it away so there could be a crop of regulars to fill seats.
I was there Sunday too.

Re BBJ: The first room in Black Hawk to take away the BBJ will be the first room to go down. Too many players chase the BBJ. I wouldn't even want to play in a room (in Black Hawk) without one. It would be was less busy, and the games would probably be tougher.

I still don't get the hate on the rake. Yeah, it's high, but the games are still super beatable. Also, there's that small issue with it Black Hawk being just about the only town in CO with Poker.

I agree that it can't be only one room to get rid of the BBJ, they all need to do it. I also understand it will never happen. I do believe, however, if they all did, it would benefit everyone. Where did the BBJ hit and what day?

You don't understand the hate on $7 rake + extra if you tip? I guarantee you are not beating the game for as much as you think you are. I think because of the occassional mega fish, the game is beatable, but not more than I can make flipping burgers at McDonalds.

$7/pot is a TON to take out of games at this level. It's like busting a player more than once every hour - except that money is just gone, not in another player's stack.

It would be an interesting experiment to sit at a table all day and record the number of hands dealt every down, then multiply that by 2 to determine average # of hands dealt per hour. Also record rake taken for every hand, and find the average rake per hand, and convert that to average total rake taken per hour. You could also figure out average rake that you are donating by dividing total by # of players at table.

1. average # of hands dealt per hour =
2. average rake per hand =
3. average rake per hand [x] average # of hands dealt per hour =
4. total rake (/) # of players =

anyone want to state their guess for each? whole numbers only. i will run the stats this weekend after careful recording in my notebook.

I'm going to go with the following:

1. 36
2. 3
3. 108
4. 11 (rounded up to 11 from 10.8)

1. 25
2. 5 (this includes the BBJ rake)
3. 125
4. 125/9 = 13.89 or 14

I get what you're saying but in reality, all you need is one table of your desired stake going on.

As a twice-a-year Blackhawk player, I've never had an issue of not finding a game. I've had to wait 2 hours to get into a game.

That's funny, because I often feel jealous of these guys. They don't have to go to a crappy 9-5 everyday, or worry about a boss, or about feeding their kids. Plus they get to spend everyday doing whatever the hell they feel like doing. Including sitting down and donking off chips at a poker table all day.

And those miniscule SS checks? They can be more than you think.

Last year I played next to one of these guys for about five hours at the Lady Luck. He's a widower who drives up from Denver most weekdays to kill some time, meet some interesting folks, and spend time doing what he loves: playing poker.

I'd imagine that some of these tight nits are better off (and happier) than you imagine.

I'm 31, telecommute, and never hear from my boss. I would say I'm as happy as these guys because I'm young, get paid to work from home (very little work), and still attract the ladies. I think it's a win win. The average SS check is only $1,230 per month in 2012. Abysmal.

No my friend, it's all about game selection. If I only had 1 table to play at all the time, I wouldn't play. I play 100 days a year on average, not twice a year like you. Little different situation.

Where do u play, son?

Can some of you regs in this thread weigh in on whether LuvTheBeefCurtains makes a net positive or net negative contribution to this thread? If you don't want to do it in this thread, feel free to send me a PM.

The reason I'm asking is he's by far the poster about whom I receive the most post reports in this thread. I've reviewed his last 25 or so posts site-wide and it looks like most of the posts are OK, but there's some questionable stuff in there too.

LuvTheBeefCurtains, regardless of what comments I receive from the community, I'd appreciate it if you could take it down a notch and review your posts to make sure that they're respectful of other posters. Thanks in advance.

You'll just have to ban me then. If so many folks are sending complaints, it just reveals not only how sensitive people are, but deep down, it's about power. By sending complaints, they're simply exercising their wanton need for power and control over others. Poker inherently attracts type A alpha males who desire to obtain control and manipulate others. That in itself exemplifies the plethora of complaints against me due to others' encountering even the slightest of resistance or varying opinions.

I'll get just as much enjoyment from this site as a non-contributor in the future, so banning me accomplishes nothing.

Arrivederci!

+1 for LTBC being a douche who I'd rather not have in this thread. I'm generally not for banning people for simple douchebaggery, though.

This. Sometimes his posts are fine, but then he goes on full-****** rants and is just an all-out douche. Like a giant rant after his ante-only game failed to get off the ground. Or the number of times I've seen him intentionally give false information to people posting questions about the games in Blackhawk.

This is the only time I've really had a beef with him. You probably didn't see it by looking at his prior posts because either he or a mod deleted the most egregious example that happened a few months back. He also claimed to have won the BBJ a while back and then later admitted he was lying. Sort of weird but whatever. In general he actually used to make me laugh a good amount when he would brag about his superior driving skills and other things, but even though he's not as funny anymore I don't think that's a crime worthy of being banned. I'd just ask LTBC not to post if he doesn't feel like being helpful (Why bother to tell somebody to search the thread? Just don't respond if you're not gonna answer a question somebody asks.) or if he has nothing of substance to offer. You can still be "edgy" or "sarcastic" or whatever, just at least have a point that's worth being made.

This. Do the boards here have an ignore function? I'm against banning people just because I personally find them irritating but being able to hide the posts of people you place on ignore is something I've seen work well on other boards similar to this. Sometimes people just don't have the capacity to recognize that they're asshats, or the interest in changing their behavior even if they do recognize it, so being able to tune them out (as you would IRL) is the only solution.

Go to My 2+2 in the top menu bar, then User Control Panel. There will be an option in the left menu for Edit Ignore List.

I've heard back from some of you and the majority say that LTBC is a negative to the thread. So while that might have been enough to exclude him on its own, this...

+1

Banning for douchness: No
Banning for mis-information: Yes (and yes, I've seen LTBC flat out lie to "out of towners" asking questions)

I'm not sure why he threw a tantrum when you said to chill out.
