I searched for this thread because I've been watching Bravo and lately Choctaw has had more tables running - in some cases a LOT more tables running - than Winstar and I was curious if something was going on, and it appears there's a WSOP event going on there.

Are there big names there playing? Is it worth it for a poker fan to come check it out even though it's another half an hour further away than Winstar?

I will be going up this Saturday (5-23) and starting a 1-2-5 PLO8 list if anyone is interested in playing that. The floor says that people often request it but very rarely are there enough people at the same time to get the game going.

I'm going to register for the 12pm or 5pm day 1 start for the $200k GTD on July 18th. From what I read there are two additional day 1 starts on the 17th and that they will run the tournament until about level 16. I'm a noob to this kind of thing so what does it mean when it says a "5% payout scale will be used. 3% of prize pool will be withheld for staffing"? I assume there would be no real way to calculate the prize-pool until we know how many entrants but surely we can ballpark it? I don't understand what the 5% payout scale means.

EDIT:

I figured it out for the most part. It just took more googling. The payout structure makes sense but it totally dependent upon the entrants, I guess. Also, I'm cloudy on the $100 voucher being removed from the prize pool. So....like $8,000 removed from the $200k?

Everyone that cashes receives a $100 voucher for a $100 satellite Tourney on July 29 or July 30 your choice, these tourneys guarantees 10 seats into the main event. They are transferable (so you can sell it) incase you can not or don't want to play in that tourney.

So this past Friday Choctaw had a promotion for that day only where quad 2s would win $5000. This was apparently in honor of Kiss being in concert that night. They have a popular song named Deuce. Playing a loose easy 1/2 game all day, up $500, decide to rack up when big blind comes around. Head to cashier, hear a commotion, come back to table I just left, guy to my left who took my bb had A2 with 3 deuces on the board, wins the 5k. I know him so I rag him around pretty hard, saying he owes me half as he never would have hit it unless I stepped out. He threw me 5 bucks which I quickly pocketed, now up $505 for the session. Good thing is he'll give most of it back in no time so it's all +EV.

Heading up there tomorrow and staying until Sunday. Do they still offer the poker hotel room rate there? I heard if you played at least 5 hours, they give you a reduced hotel rate.
