I would certainly Uber it (at least on the way out there - then you can shuttle back.)

If you're referring to Horseshoe hammond, I haven't seen 20/40 lhe run in a couple months at least. It usually ran fridays in the past.

There is a nightly shuttle from your area to/from Hammond ... see the Poker Venue thread for more details. GL

Never been, but there's a casino in Elgin, west of airport.

Quite a few links popped up when I entered "poker, north Chicago" ...

Depending on your timeline and transportation, Milwaukee will provide all the action you need. It may be the same for you to go to Hammond ... GL

Elgin = Grand Victoria Casino.

$7 rake +$1 for BBJ plus $2/bottle of water.

I'll be in town for a conference the weekend of 7/29-31. I plan to play overnight Saturday night (VERY early flight) beginning at about 10:00.

It looks like Horseshoe Hammond has an insanely long waiting list on Saturday night even into the early AM. Will it take longer than 30 minutes to get seated at 1/2? Would all of you recommend another place to play Sat night?

I'll have a rental car and have a 5 AM flight from Midway...

Thanks!

It shouldnt take longer than 30 minutes to get a spot, but I'd get there a little earlier to be safe if you can (that 1/2 list can balloon late night, esp with the dealer shortage they are having right now.) Making the trip back from Hammond to Midway won't be too bad either. GL

Thanks - the response I got on the Hammond thread was similar.

Seems like the harrahs properties are slowly killing off games. Dealer shortages at all properties. Was playing at the shoe and they froze seating and started breaking tables to consolidate players. 100+ ppl on waitlist and they freeze seating. And people are saying this is happening every night.

I think Harrah's Joliet is doing just fine. All rooms need to adjust for unknown attendance and I think some of the 'shoe crowd is heading further south to Joliet. BBJ is $250k? and action is good as well. We always look at Joliet as a place to camp out during our Chicago trips since it's and easy drive into the city with much more reasonable room rates ... and poker without the 60 minute wait. GL

I'm going to be flying into O'Hare next week, arriving around 6-ish. Staying in Chicago proper (around Near North Side/Old Town), but my best chance to play poker will likely be right after I arrive. Where's the best place to go play convenient to O'Hare? Prefer to play 2/5 NLHE. I'm used to playing at Horseshoe Hammond but that seems like the wrong side of Chicago.
