Take one of the shuttles that the Shoe offers from downtown. Check their website for pickup times and locations. Free and reliable.

What's the min/max buy in for 1-2 PLO at the Shoe? Does it play big with a bring in and what's the opening pot sized raise? I see there's 3 tables going right now with 8 on the waiting list. Is that consistent or a Wednesday night thing? Thanks in advance

anybody have any idea what is going on w/ Ameristar reopening their room?

i find it odd that the room opens in a week and there is no information on what games they'll be running.

Folks, I'm going to be working with a client in the Round Lake, IL, area for the next several weeks. Bravo shows the nearest poker rooms to be quite a distance away, especially given the traffic situation. Can anyone point me to a poker room close to Round Lake?

Best casino options will b Potawatomi in Milwaukee WI or Grand victoria in Elgin, IL. Neither are very close but arent on bravo so maybe u didnt kno about them....
U can also check out RockfordCharitableGames.com They have games from 2:00pm-midnite everyday in different areas. Use google maps to plan out where u will go each day as locations change and u may b bettr off going slightly further for an actual casino. Gl

Hey guys, I have a friend that I want to bring along to the casino who is new to poker. Are there any poker rooms around that would tolerate her lurking in the vicinity for an extended period of time? I've never gone with someone who wasn't already a player themself, so I am not sure what is standard.

You'll be fine at Horseshoe or Potawatomi as long as you explain proper etiquette to her. Don't comment on a hand that's ongoing, hands you're not involved in, etc etc.

I can't speak for any of the smaller rooms in the area.

I've been to the Shoe 2 or 3 times, but I've never seen spectator before. Are they fine with someone just standing near the table if they aren't saying anything/helping in any way?

As long as it isnt a busy night, I dont see it being a problem. Will she be shadowing you or just wandering around?

I've never been to a room that isn't ok with someone sitting behind a player, as long as there's a chair available. Standard s/o accommodation imo.

Thanks for the info. I haven't played in Casinos nearly as often as most people here (maybe 10-15 times total lifetime?)

Hey guys and gals,

I'm relatively new to the Chicagoland area and am finally getting a chance to hit the Hammond Horseshoe this weekend. I have a couple questions that I was hoping y'all could answer.

1. If I ride the Metra in to Ogilvie (sp?), where is the closest place to catch one of the free shuttles?

2. I'll probably come Friday. How long of a commute should I anticipate once I'm on the shuttle? I'm planning to catch the earliest shuttle possible.

3. Can you call ahead to get on a wait list? (I assume it'll be busy, even during the day on a Friday.)

4. How long will the commute back into the city take in the evening? I don't want to miss the last Metra home.

I know these questions have probably been asked and answered a million times on this board, but I couldn't find them. Also, I've looked at different websites with the shuttle schedules, but I wanted to hear from someone who has actually made the trip.

Thanks.

1 & 2. It's not the closest shuttle but the best shuttle is in Chinatown (right near Chinatown red line stop), which is hourly and takes about 20 minutes to and from (more coming back to Chicago in rush hour). The schedule for all the shuttles can be found here: https://www.caesars.com/horseshoe-ha...hotel/shuttles.

3. You cannot call ahead and put your name on the lists.

4. In non rush hour it takes 20 to 30 minutes coming back to Chinatown, add about 10-15 minutes if you take the south loop shuttle.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to get over there early on Friday to get a seat before the big rush. Hopefully I'll be able to hold on to some of my stack until the softer players arrive.

There shouldn't be much of a wait Friday afternoon, depending upon what game you are trying to play.

You can check how crowded it is at the Horseshoe through the Bravo Poker phone apps or the website:
