Can I get some feedback on the PLO game? Is it soft?

Also, haven't been in Hali for a while but I HATE that fat guy who wears the sweat pants at the 2-5 game. So annoying. Glasses and gray hair, right?

What about the guy with the hat, glasses, long beard, and pajama pants. Seemed solid. He still play?

They have a hard time getting PLO to run most times

Surprised to see so many 2+2ers from csn.
Hi, I called them after I posted and got the same response. However now I check their website and they list a calender of the days they play omaha/special tournaments/etc. all fridays are listed a "retro friday" and feature LHE 5/10 from 6pm-close. Anyone have experienec with recent fridays at this casino?

I just moved to halifax but have not yet visited the casino.

My first post!
Hoping I can get some feedback on who would be the better regulars at the PLO game...

I hear that a guy named liam is the best reg at the PLO games these days. You'll recognize him by his "i wanna be european" style hats.

bunch of other nitty ethnic dudes and a few droolers.

playing with all the old guys is depressing as hell, playing with college aged kids is 10x more fun but the action usually isn't as good.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I know of all the people mentioned in these posts and "half ton 200nl pro" is the funniest description of a cns reg in recent memory.

The first time I played at Casino NS there were a couple of very good 5/10 limit games and a 15/30 limit as well if I recall correctly... great action too! There was only 1 NL game, a 1/2 I believe. Well I went back in Dec. 2010 and it was terrible...no limit game, 2 1/2 NL games...not a lot of chips on the table...very depressing after playing in Vancouver and Calgary etc. I'm afraid the no-limit poker boom killed the limit games; they used to be a lot of fun...I hope no-limit dies and limit makes a come back. A few years ago if you wanted to play poker you had to learn stud, limit holdem, PLO, PLO8 and no-limit holdem, but nowadays these young guys only want no limit holdem; they don't know any other games...you can see that when you go to Casino Nova Scotia.

I know that Winston guy and he's actually a gentleman and a nice guy. He and his brother used to play in our underground poker club in Victoria. Yes he's a nit but wtf it's easy to play a nit.

Been here many times before (bj, slots) and finally tried the poker room a few weeks back. It was a sat night, 20min wait for 1/2. Table I was seated at was tight, quiet, everyone was older than me, not a lot of fun. Got the vibe a lot of people were regs. Guy to my immediate left was stacked. He splashed the pot once or twice for big bets. In hindsight, it was probably a bluff tell or he was a bully, but whatever. Wasn't paying him off with crap cards to find out.

Folded mostly. Only saw action twice. Paired my j 6 o/s on the flop, bet out $6 and everyone folded. Donked off my stack a short time later beaten by a better kicker. It was my first time playing live there so the obvious could be said, but it came off as a bit of a letdown (and not because I lost my money).

Played PLO there the other night. It was the softest game I've seen in 10 years. I had to pinch myself, it was like a wet dream. Maybe it was God paying me back for all the bad beats, like that time I went all in on the turn with aces full of kings and lost to a royal flush on the river at that game in Victoria.

Heading down first week of Sept, what's the action like? This thread is pretty much dead, I hope the action at CNS doesn't reflect this.
Does PLO run at all and what is the mix % of players regs vs recs and nits vs loose.
Do you have to pay for drinks while you play?

Varies. Time of the year, weather, local events. Fri/Sat night is your best shot.

Don't believe PLO runs regularly. 1/2, 2/5 typ. Call ahead to check if deal breaker.

Healthy mix of regs / recs ime. Nit / loose ratio totally dependent on table / factors above.

Free tea / coffee / pop. Pay for booze.

I know a casino is a business. They would rather you hit the slots or table games over poker. CNS doesn't schedule extra dealers to meet demand. I get it, but there's nine players to a table. So why is it the first nine who are there on the list before the tables open at noon aren't guaranteed to play? There's a random draw. So person #3 on the list is now faced with waiting 2+hrs while guy #11 plays. Is this standard?

Posting in this thread since there doesn't seem to be a more generic one for the Maritime Provinces.

Would like some help from you locals to this area. I am the new ambassador for an small but growing online poker site, and they wish to send me on some tours of the world to engage with local players and generate new customers. Right now, the owner would like to try and get more Canadian players on the site. We have been very successful so far with generating new players through poker clubs. Not the kind of public poker rooms that are usually discussed in this thread, but private clubs where groups of friends get together to play tournaments and cash games. The kind of clubs that often run competitions to send 1 or more of their members to the WSOP.

If you are in such a club, please reach out to me here by PM, by messaging me on my website (www.FossilManPoker.com/contact.html), by hitting me up on twitter (@FossilMan), or by posting in this thread (least preferred method). We would love to learn more about your club, and see if we can arrange for me to visit and play with your group for a day. We might also be able to arrange some of my FossilMan Poker Training as part of the visit.

Even if not in this area, if you are in or know about a club that might be interested, I'd appreciate it if you would provide me with the info.

Thanks for reading this post, and looking forward to visiting your club!

Cheers, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)
