Some interesting events. How are the cash games at this place compared to the casino? Is the rake even higher?

Level of players: tougher players then the Casino, still easily beatable though
Rake: higher than the cas, 14$/5% for 5/5 and 8$/10% for 1/2
Service: Much better service, free food, free drinks, you can drink alcohol at the table, bigger tables etc...

I still prefer the cas cuz there's more action and the players are worse, but this tournament series might be bring a lot of action players especially during the 560$ deepstacks.

Anyone has any info on the stakes and fishiness of the LHE there? I am likely to go from Wed to Fri. What are the more profitable times to play?

I heard they have those computerized tables for 1/2. Is this still true?

Can you guys drink at the table yet? That is one thing I didn't like about up there. No alcohol at tables. I have not been up there for a few years and it was before poker. Can you drink a beer at the poker table?

There is no LHE in that casino, and I dont think you can find any LHE game in all Montreal.

They have a computer table for 0.50/1

We still can't drink alcool at the table. You can put your beer in a coffee cup, no problem.

they will spread it if there's demand for it, but the problem is there is no demand for it... i was in a 5/5 , 4 handed game with a mandatory straddle a few months ago, and i suggested a 20/40 limit game cuz everyone was tired and it was 6am, everyone looked at me weird and i was like hmm... ok, let's play 5/5/10NL with 4 players then lol

I'm going to be coming down on Labor Day weekend. From September 2nd to the 5th. I'm coming down with 4 friends who all just want to go clubbing and strip clubs. Me on the other hand just want to go get hammered and go to the casino! They all know I'm a degenerate so they said they'll only allow me one night at the casino.

I'm staying at the Sheraton Centre in downtown. Any cool bars around that area? I've come to Montreal many times before JUST for the Schwartz, but are there any other cool places to eat? How about bars? I'll keep in mind McLeans and 737 which sounds really cool.

There is no drinking at the poker tables here - which I'll assume you won't enjoy. Other than that the poker is pretty good and the room is always packed and waiting list goes fast.

For bars/nightlife I suggest going to either St. Laurent or Crescent - both streets are packed with bars/clubs/food and you can't really go wrong.

McLean's is my favourite bar in Montreal. It's a pretty solid bar to have some fun and drink some beers. About 737, once you get over the fact that it's literally fly and the view's amazing, you realize it's a terrible club. Bartenders suck, drinks suck, music sucks, DJ sucks (several of the have only 1 trick which is cutting out all the volume in a song and letting the rest of the club belt it out which they do every other song), and it's full of 30 year old douchebags and pedos.

You should also try out Ye Olde Orchard. It's on Prince Arthur and St. Laurent. Great Irish bar. Bartenders and servers have a great attitude. They serve pretty solid food there. For food, there's Buns which is cheap and good burgers. There's also Altos on Milton and Parc, a McGill favourite for drunken/hungover/I'm too lazy to cook/I'm out of groceries food. If you have the chance, visit Place Milton on Milton and Jeanne Mance for breakfast. BEST. BREAKFAST. EVER. Their pancakes must be made from the fluffy wings of an angel.

There is no LHE. 1-2 and 2-5 at the Casino de Montreal is softer than a pair of really soft titties. Mostly loose passive players who'll pay you off with TPNK or 2nd pair.

Rake is high...+BBJ and promotions are far and few in between. But I suppose they'll give you a free pen for playing 60 hours in a week if you ask nicely.

I have also seen juicy tables as well as the tightest live tables I've ever seen (folds around and blinds are chopped every hand)

There is alot of ways around the no beer policy, just have to be creative, like juicing your free cup of cola with some hard liquor that you brang, pull the move in the toilet. I've seen peeps blantantly (spell check sux) drinking beer in a cup.

I'm not saying it's a hard table to beat (just because they're tight doesn't mean there good). This was the case the 2nd to last time I went. I sat there for a while and thought "well this is strange" I raised 3 hands in a row the table folded and asked for a table change.

Forgot to mention that the opening raise was 6. Not 6bb... 6$-8$. That was quite unusual for a live 1/2 game. However I must admit this is a rare game. Usually the games are pretty juicy. Like the table I moved to (random I didn't ask for a specific table) the opening raise was 12-15$ and 3-4 callers every hand.
