Hey I'm sure there a few Montreal casino regulars around here.

Anyways, there isn't an official thread for us so I figure it might be a good time to start one. It'd be fun to hear some stories, anecdotes, important upcoming tourneys, juiciness of the games, how much the BBJ is at, things you like, things they can improve on etc...

Great thread idea.

I'm visitting the casino for the 2nd time, probably on Tuesday. My 2nd time at a Casino, I'm psyched!

Whoohoo, finally a Montreal casino thread.

To SiickCents, they also have 5/5, and 5/10 and it's 1 table each.

Looks like I'm gonna have to make an appearance at one of the satellites.

hey siick, they usually spread the 1/2 and 2/5 games as needed, (usually more than 5-6 tables for each), the 5/5 like Frank said is usually 1 or 2 tables. the 5/10 is more rare, they might have it on the weekend from time to time. But there's plenty of action on the 5/5 and usually plays like a 5/10.

There's already a long thread on this joint:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/27...-there-515288/

My trip report, for one, is in there. I didn't title the thread, "Casino Montreal, don't go there," so don't blame me, but I don't recommend it for people who play to make money. I think it has little value for advantage players in general. The alcohol policy is pretty funky for those who visit for entertainment. Nice architecture though. If you play to earn $$$, though, I can't see the point of the place.

yeah i did a search before putting up the thread, its more like a trip report imo with alot of op's complaints and not a reg thread like the borgata and foxwood one.

But its' def a good thread to let management see what they can improve on, I know they're prolly lurking here now.

Edit: As for the not making money part, you must've landed on a bad table, that casino is like a goldmine the average fish to good player ratio is like 7 to 2 on a 2/5 table lol I played some live poker in Vegas and the caliber of Montreal players don't even come close.

That report is so nitty.

It was one of the reports I read before visitting there, it gave me a horrible impression of the casino, it's actually a really good cardroom.

Yeah, I don't play 2/5 NL so that's undoubtedly why I had such a terrible impression of the place.

I emailed CDM asking if they have any sort of comp system for poker players, and got a response saying that they will "eventually have a program for poker players"

I live in Ottawa and the trip to Montreal is definately worth it when compared to Casino du Lac Lemay (Gatineau/Ottawa area). Montreal got me on a table quick and they run regular SnGs. I heard they got rid of the electronic though, is this true?

Nah, they still have em. They'll run a few tables for cash games and they run SnGs off of the electronic tables.

yeah I hope they get rid of the electronic tables and make the other side a tournament side.

Thats why i play the electronic 1/2$ (5$rake). And if the rake is a problem, then play 5/10 with 10$rake.

i dont mind the poker room, just one thing they need to do is have an advance call system so you dont get there and wait 2-3 hours for a table and u cant leave the poker room cuz u might miss ur name

Level of play at 2/5 will vary. But the average player is horrible. Some decent regs and every now and then the game will be bad (usually in the middle of the night when you drop down to 1-2 tables), but the game are good overall. There's usually at least one player per table that straddles. Most player don't buy in full but it's not like they adapt their game to their half-stack anyway. People going on tilt and open shoving blind is not unheard of. I can't compare with other casino since I haven't played elsewhere.

It's easy money if you can beat online SSNL, but I can't stand live play more then a few times every few months.

There was a 5/10 deepish game going on last Saturday night (1500$-5000$ buyin) that may run most weekend (I've heard so, but I hadn't been there in a while).

edit: wait time are a lot better then they were earlier this year. They don't have the 3 table limit for 1/2 anymore and the room is rarely completely full. Wait time > 1 hour should be rare. Then again, they wouldn't open new table last Saturday while waiting on the tournament to start to make sure they wouldn't run out of dealers for said tournament. Of course this meant they had 5 dealer on staff for over an hour that did nothing while there was enough player on the waiting list to open a new 2/5 and 5/5 table. It's not perfect, but it's better then it was.

Yeah, I'm Chinese but I never played 2-5. I play the 1-2 game and the tournaments a couple times. I go there like 3 or 4 times a month so you might have seen me. I'm the tall guy with long hair and I usually wear a black button down shirt.

I've played there a few times when it started. I mostly play at Leamy in Ottawa. If the game is softer than Ottawa, I really need to come down.

Are any week nights juicy? Is it ever decent during a week day? Or is that all the regs? I mostly play 2/5NL now, but started as a limit player. Do any limit games like 15/30 ever get spread?
