Can anyone tell me what games are currently played in the 40/80 mix? I will be in town in a few weeks and would like to consider playing.

Anyone questioning the skill level of 2-100 spread here...
I've seen preflop all in for 150BB JJ vs TT or similar quite often.
A lot of deep bankrolls for fish.

I believe that a dealer there who went by the name youtalkfunny on these forums passed away. I wanted to extend my condolences. If he was just a tiny percentage as warm, hilarious, and gregarious as he came across in the Break Room thread here, I know he will be missed by all of his coworkers and players.

I don’t know who he was IRL, but remember him is a poster. Very sorry to hear this news. I had plenty of seat time at CP before I moved so must actually know him as well.

I'm considering moving to Minneapolis. How do games stack up against east coast casinos such as Borgata and Foxwoods

The 40-80 game is the same core group of players, day in day out. You know you're in for a boring session when you approach a table and at least 6 of the seated players have an office set up, i.e. hardware for their iphones set up so they can view movies while they wait for their premium cards.

The 20-40 is off the hook crazy with a huge player field. Always goes and always full, at least one game around the clock. I watched one guy, this is no lie, we counted his calls to his mother to bring more cash, go through 15K. Yes it happened. There is no folding at the 20-40. Expect any hand to call. You can't go a hand without at least 4-5 players in at the river.

As far as people, the finest in the world. The most accommodating floor and dealers. I stay at Mystic Lake Casino, 15 minutes away for around $150 per night mid-week, $220 for fri/sat. There are much cheaper alternatives if you don't mind staying in Shakopee where Canterbury is located.

Minnesota Nice is the state slogan and they sure do live up to it. Nicest players you will ever find anywhere.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I apologize for not specifying but I'm most interested in spread limit games.

I just drove over there now. All table games where the poker tables used to be. 4 seats with plexiglass shields and not many people. Maybe 50 cars in the parking lot 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon 6/14/20. The poker tables were moved to the narrow rear section. Staff said "hopefully in three weeks poker will open." Temp check coming in and had to register at the desk. Mask or suitable facial covering mandatory. I'll check back there in about 4 weeks.

10:24 a.m., 13 poker tables in the rear section, 6 handed with plexiglass shields, 5 tables were going with most full and 1 or 2 may have been 5 handed. Didn't bother noting the game selection since that varies based on current available players. 3 short waiting lists, 1 for 40/80 limit with few names on it. One player at a table commented "It won't last long 6 handed." Put a note on him in my phone, Likes chasing flush and sttraight draws. Since it's a very short drive and I pass it all the time I'll probably check again tomorrow (Friday) night around 9 p.m. and start playing there for the first time the following week if traffic is decent. If anybody has any specific questions let me know.

Does it seem safe to play? Or do I have to go there and make up my own mind? I have not played in 5 months and might wait another 5 months.

What exactly are you looking for? Masks are mandatory and staff ensures they're covering both your nose and mouth. Temperature check at entryway. 6 handed, plexiglass and sanitizer on each table.

Do I think these preventative measures will keep you from contracting covid if you spend an extended period of time in the casino? No, but they'll help to a degree.

I played at Canterbury on a recent week-end. It was super clean as advertised. There were many of the regulars there on all of the 14 six person tables. I even noticed one of the well-known and very welcome fun loving fish. The table dividers offer some protection from your face being read which is good for those of us who have not perfected a poker face. The chip runner now has a portable cart of chips which is handy. The regulars are a little out of practice so the ordinary player has an even chance. I think it is safe to play. Just be careful and don't slow play those pocket kings.

A rep told me they're waiting for state approval for more than 6 players per table. How can that be the case if Running Aces is seating 7 per?

The plexiglass is set up to allow for 6 players per table. Maybe they are waiting for approval to remove the plexiglass?

it seems governor closed down all commercial fun with executive order 20-99.

Canterbury Park will temporarily suspend all operations on Friday, November 20 at 11:59 PM in adherence with Executive Order 20-99.

The governor of Minnesota just loosened restrictions again. Will there be more tables? Will there be more players per table? Will the plexiglass be removed?
