Still 3 hours of play. They'll sign you up at the table, then you pick it up on the way out.

Thank you.
I went to the opening night last night and there was nothing like that. However:

They had three tables of Omaha, all 20-40 limit with a half kill (after any pot went to 400). I was seated at one of these where there was a 30ish guy whose strategy was to bloat every pot and who had put the rest of the table on tile. So there were very few pots that didn't start out 30-60 and those were always three- or four-bet preflop with 6-8 players staying to take the flop. That meant premium starting hands were in for a tough time and the damnedest things wound up winning (8863 took one of the biggest pots of the night with a six-high straight -- and a couple of hands later a 7-high flush draw stayed to the river to run down my nut straight).

But when you did rake a pot it was enough to keep you in action for the next while.

The cannon had about 3500 in front of him when I sat down. He rebought four times for about that much, then for 400 around 2 a.m. and left when that was quickly gone.

1) Is there an entrance fee to access the casino pre-opening of Aug. 16?
2) What the best parking options are nearby (if any) for the pre-opening period?

Thank you.
No entrance fee prior to the fair. I got dinged for $30 for parking last night, but I guess that was because there was a game at the BMO stadium. I think otherwise it might have been free (until the fair opens).

Was there a bigger game running besides 20/40 Omaha?
What was the wait like?

Same thing happened to me in Port Perry. Was 30/60. I flopped Top set and nut straight on a flushing board, and had the Kd in my hand with Ad on board. 8 way to the river, after a capped turn of $240, which was naturally a diamond and guy leads out into the 7 of us. Everyone folds to me, I call and he shows 67 of diamonds. Lol Pot was about 3k.

20-40 LHE and 20-40 Omaha were the biggest games, both with a half kill.

I waited less than 30 minutes. Not too bad, though as has been true for a while now, there's no good place to sit (it's hard to hear and impossible to see whether or not you're being called from the tiny food area at the other end of the noisy hall).

Lots of players till around 4 a.m., at which point the tables began to go short.

I hear Port Perry's poker room is reopening soon. I wonder if that kind of action will return. The GTA certainly does have some action players.

Sometimes, as we've found, dismayingly so ...

I'm just wondering what the waiting time was last night or today for 1-2 No Limit Holdem. Last year it was frequently 3 hours or more to play on the weekend.

On game days you can park on lots in Parkdale for a lot less, at one time even for free on side streets but that was years ago, before the boom of Condo developments and gentrification of the neighbourhood.

I was sitting at Omaha, but only stayed for a few hours. What do you look like? I will say "Hi" next time. My Omaha table wasn't that crazy. It began to loosen up, but it started out with a lot of pots not going to show down.

We were definitely not sitting at the same table. Between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., I recall only 2-3 pots not going to showdown, mulit-way to the river!

I may play again next weekend. Saturday maybe -- so do say I.

Anyone know if they are spreading anything higher than 20/40 yet? (50/100 or 100/200)?

If I see someone that fits that description I will say hi. I'm mid 30s, short beard, white, bigger than average.

The have NL, but it's actually spread limit. For 2/5 NL, the most that can be bet on any street is $100. So if someone raise preflop to $100, no can re-raise them. They can only call the $100. Same for the flop/turn/river. I bet $80, you can raise but it's $100 total and no more raises on that street. Weird dynamic

If anyone's planning to go more than once, here's how you go about getting the entrance pass and parking pass. If it's you're first time doing it, you look for a staffer wearing a green shirt walking the floor when you're seated at a game. Give them your driver's license and they'll fill out a form for you. Once you've logged three hours minimum play from that point, you go to the VIP desk in the casino area to pick up your passes for use on your next visit(s). But you must pick up the passes the same day.

And I know this has been beaten to death by others in past years, but have your expectations in check. Be it the quality of the dealing, the use of bent cards, the $3 coffees and chocolate bars etc.: the games are administered in an abysmal way. Dealers have no idea, for the most part, about any elements of the games beyond the very, very basics. Without any exaggeration. That said, the games are super-fun and action-filled, so bring your bankroll, hold your nose and hopefully you'll find it worth the hassle of getting inside, tolerating what would be intolerable at a bricks and mortar casino, and overpaying for food and beverages, etc.

The wait times havent been too bad so far. On Tuesday it was about 1/2 an hour and Wednesday was around 45 Minutes. I know most of our American friends would think that crazy but that's life in Toronto. Haven't been on a weekend yet. But I expect it to be around 3 hours and more. There is no call in list.

The free parking and CNE pass is huge. But the parking pass has your driver's license so it's not transferrable. I love the free CNE admission card. I will use it even if I don't feel like playing and would rather just go to the EX. Maybe loan it to a friend.

I wonder if they know how much you actually play in those 3 hours? May not be ethical but what if you sign up, play a few hands, disappear for a while and jsut go for a walk and come back and claim your VIP card? Anyways, wouldn't be too ethical.

they don't actually charge for parking until the CNE fair opens, which is in a few weeks, if youre there before that (now till mid august) sit down and play and wait till somebody in a green shirt walks by with the clip board giving out VIP passes, these are cards to leave on your dash so you don't have to pay for parking when the fair opens. DONT pay for parking when you go right now you don't need to.

Area and dealers are still insanely bad. Got through 8 hands in a down and I nearly stood up and left. That being said, seems like they allow headphones this year, so there is at least a small plus!
