Might head to Aussie for a month soon, wondering if it still sucks? From what I read it seems quite bad.

The rake sucks. The standard of play can often make up for it!

Lol yea the rake system seems atrocious! I guess I have to go and see for myself, mostly 2/3 games running nowadays?

2/3 has been mostly phased out replaced by 2/5 300 max

Someone in Crown the other day after quite a few drinks blurted out that a second casino was being mooted in WA. You could tell by his conversational chat that he was a Public Servant and worked in Gaming; something might just be released to the press before Xmas?????

Give Burswood management something to think about.

hmm hope so if only for a better poker experience, it's the only thing I play at the casinos.

I don't mind burswood...if only there were more players and tables

I will believe it when I see it. Second casino's in Perth and Melbourne in particular have been mooted for a long time, but again, its something that still seems a mile away.

Incidently, if they were to add another casino, I would be curious to see what it does to the rake structure and game structure at each casino, or if the other casino made a cartelesque agreement with Burswood to keep the rake relatively high compared to other Australian based casinos.

wow, I am so glad I saw this post and just had to register.
I use to play at burswood, but due to the well known fact of bad players and calling idiot stations I have stopped. I just can't keep up with the numerous bad beats/suck outs.

One particular hand I was in which was about a month ago at burswood at the 2/5.

I have ace king UTG i raise to 15 and I get 6 callers....

Flop 5d, 6s, 5s. I check guy bets,2 callers.
Guy bets, I fold. 2 Callers
turn 7s.
Guy bets, some other guy re-raises - other guy folds. - other guy smooth calls.
Turn 3 of spades.
Guy bets , guy folds, guy shoves all in.
( pot is around $800 now )
Guy snap calls.

The guy hits runner runner straight flush with 4 of spades and king of spades.
Other guy shows 5/6 <- he flopped the full house.
Wow just wow.
Wondering if anyone plays regular cash home games? I know of one up in red cliffe once every week but thats about it.

You should be hunting the fish not avoiding them. You just need to change your style of play to take advantage of the bad calls. If your open raise gets called 5 ways raise bigger or limp-raise. Identify their weaknesses and exploit them

Ye, I played at good old burswood a bit when over there.

Small casino and poker room. The games were tougher weekdays during the day and a lot softer on Friday nights.

I found you have to 4 or 5x most of the time if youre looking to isolate.

Worked for me to play really tight aggressive on most of the tables. Bluffed all in tight spots on later streets, some of the regs are weak to this play unless they have close to nuts.

Week day regs seemed to get pretty p**sed off when you stack them too. lol.

The changed the BI structure about 2 months ago.

The main game now is 2/5 with a 50-500 BI. Rake is 10% capped at $15 in that game. The game is super soft, but difficult on certain tables having to adapt to various stack sizes. For example, last night my table had 3 people playing sub-100 stacks, 3 or 4 with 100-300, and the two others like me playing around 1k deep. It can be very difficult to adjust your opening ranges and raise sizes depending on who is behind you, has already limped etc...

There is also a 5/5 that has got up a few times in the last few weeks. The BI to that game is 200-1k usually. This game is pretty good the last few times it has got up. The rake follows the Table A structure, which is

0-49, $0
50-99, $5
100-199, $10
200-499, $15
500+ $20

is the rumour that they are rebuilding and moving the poker room somewhere else true?

Moving poker room would be nice. Going to start frequenting the burswood room I think, anyone know of any home games that go constantly? Wish they had a $1/$2 game or even back to the $2/$3 would be so much better. With the increase to the $2/$5 there are alot of limpers which isn't bad, but it doesn't take much to be committed post flop. What's worse is the min buyin $50 now your raise to iso and you have the new guy call with his $50 now ur betting him all in with your cont bet, what used to be $20 u gotta make it now $40 rest of his stack.

Anyone here reg the live tables at burswood so I know to stay clear of you?
