Not looking to get into it either at the moment, im told that theres a lot of **** to put up with and the play is generally awful. What do you guys think? Still easy pickings?
When I first got into it it was pretty LOL bad because of the Kevin Rudd handout, which gave everyone $900 to just burn...

However, since most of that money has dried up now the games a tougher, but by no means completely unbeatable...

its still pretty soft but its a far cry from how it used to be. not that i play there much at all anymore, but 5/5 is just loaded with mediocre grinders all waiting to flop a set and usually a couple terrible players, so its definately profitable but i find it mind numbingly boring and i dont have the time or patience for it.
i mainly play limit when i go in coz i find it so much more fun to goof around and its a cool break from always playing nlh online. i honestly dont know how someone can play nl 6max online then have the patience to play live nl fullring at similar stakes.
fwiw, i quit my old job to play poker at burswood a bit over 3 years ago, but now if it was a choice between playing fulltime at burswood and working a real job again id go get a real job. thank god for online poker

From the times I've played the $5/5 NL it seemed incredibly soft and I was playing on a table where everyone knew each other on a Friday afternoon.

Hey guys! Can anyone recommend some decent accommodation (an apartment or a good hotel deal) for a month in Perth, with a solid ADSL and preferably near the casino?

At FT there were 4 young guys who knew each other and were discussing hand ranges and stuff so I thought they might be here.

played the limit, no limit, teams and main event. the main event was pretty good value for a 2.5k event. unfortunately busted day 2.

I guess he took 2nd place. He run pretty hot coming from shortstack to 2nd. Which side of 85k/75k did he get?

not 100% on the figures but im sure he got the bigger portion, and he said he shoved all in preflop 100 bb deep with J7, obviously the nuts.

A number of Aussie Millions satelittes running ATM, as well as some relatively cheap standalone events...

http://burswoodpoker.com.au/news_detail.php?id=87

The $125 shootout event was on today. 52 runners, which meant only the winners of the 6 tables made the FT. I won my table and finished second overall for a score of just over $1300. Got a bit lucky at times, unlucky at others, but stuffed up the HU, which lasted 2 hands...

LOLdonkaments...

ur mate lost 4 ahead all ins nearly in a row to lose to a burswood cash game reg.
he defintly deserved to win imo, his 3 handed play was very good, and was owning HU too but vesko was just too lucky..

Ive got few days in perth at the end of june and figured I must atleast check out the casino. i will be there from mon to fri.

what kind of games should I expect to run there on week day evenings?

anything else to do there?

weekday evenings you should expect at least a 10/20 fixed limit table, a 5/5 no limit and a 2/3 no limit table, theres usually at least a few tables going. During the day there may only be a 10/20 limit and a 5/5 table going.

there is also a $30 rebuy tournament on monday evenings

During the standard week the average table breakdown would be something like

1 10/20 fixed limit table
2 5/5 NL tables
4 or so 2/3 NL tables

And sometimes some bigger games, either PLO 2/3, 5/5 or 5/10, sometimes a big 5/10 or 10/20 NLHE game etc... There are $25+5 tournaments on Mondays with $25 rebuys, and a bigger tournament every second Saturday IIRC... $440 or so...

Games runs sporadically around tournaments. Thursday nights is the night they have a big game. maybe 1-2 very good PLO players 1 fish (2-3 same guys you will realize after one orbit) and the rest are nits per table playing the 5-5/ 5-10 PLO. That was a couple months ago anyway i gave up playing their a while ago

Hey was wondering if anyone has been playing at burswood lately, Used to play there now and then bout a year or so ago, sucked as because i was never patient enough since playing online. had a break from poker and was thinking about playing some live for a few months before I take a roll back online, or if I could increase my roll playing at burswood 2/3 then maybe jump back online with a roll i can start above 200nl with.

is the 2/3 still 200max? and only opened at nights? whats the 2/3 traffic like on weeknights, there sometimes wasn't any tables open back when i was playing which sucked after making the trip there to only have to wait at the 5/5 with the old boys.

Anyhow I'll be keeping a constant eye on this thread since its good to have a thread on 2+2 that is close to home

Thanks guys.

Hi

Perth 5/5 has basically imploded on itself because 2/3 is now open on demand at all times during the day. The fish that would play 5/5 now play 2/3, because there is no waiting list. As such, the just above breakeven players became the fish, and then they dropped down, and as such at best only two 5/5 tables run, but usually one.

2/3 generally gets going from about lunchtime, and runs through until 6am, or all the way through from Thursday nights to Monday mornings where the room is 24hrs. There are up to 10 games running of 2/3 on the Friday nights, and usually around 3-5 games during the week. The rake has increased,, but it hasnt stopped the pub poker hero's playing a few times a week.

The game is still a 50-200BI, but obv gets deeper over the weekends when the money stays on the table for a number of days.

Hope that helps

Yeah thanks man that helps, 3-5 tables of 2/3 running during the week sounds promising from back when i was playing. So tables are usually open from midday now? i was so sick of rocking up at 8pm and there not even being a full list to open up a table of 2/3 but if what your saying is even half accurate then that's good news I dont mind the pub heroes taking their shots so they can brag at the next apl, but its when they hit n run that its a b*tch. they are still welcome by me if I'm at a table might head down to burswood sometime soon and if i can handle the grind of live then might make the 2/3 tables my bankroll builder

Thanks again Ash
