Our stadium will be built before the SMS system...

My thoughts on the Burswood new room.

1) Location: ****, simple as that. Right at the back of the casino, and through a very little corridor. Have also seen people unable to locate the ATM's, which are hidden away under what I am assuming is state law. Very few drunkards on the weekends

2) The room: Pretty poor. Some may have noticed the carpet beginning to come up at the entrance haha. Bit iffy and the lack of a rail is a shame...

Really disappointed with the room after the promises of "world class" Hell, if that is world class, so is my play...

About the APL, I havent seen in or heard from any reputable source of any "take what you can grab raking" (disclaimer: I work for the APL) in the 6 months I have been working for them. I have heard stories about WAPL, mucked cards being retrieved, disorganised staff etc... but since I have never played and the stories have been from second hand sources, I cant back these stories up.

Mucked cards won't ever be retrieved at a WAPL cash table (and if you hear a story with the name of a dealer or a venue, PM me, because I'd love to hear about it and sort things out). Tournament tables are self-dealt (same as the APL), so an inexperienced player might think they can go fishing about in the muck, but as soon as someone calls a staff member over, we'll put a pretty quick stop to that.

Friday night at Burswood was fun. I think the drunktards have found the poker room. Had one guy literally crying because his hand had been mucked from the SB while he was on the phone and facing away from the table. Another guy hurling his cards at a dealer and telling him to **** himself, and not knowing what was wrong with that. Few other good ones. Sadly, the cards gave all their money to the grinders before I could get it.

Oh yeah, and here's something funny: There are no PAs inside the poker room. This sounds sensible, but it meant there were players sitting on the chairs waiting for their table to come up, and not realising it has because it was only (parts of) the main gaming floor that heard the number get called.

Yeah, fair enough. Not a personal knock on WAPL, but since most the stories I hear are from the pro-APL, anti-WAPL brigade, then most arent going to be kind to your mob.

Very funny as well with the system. Also, that room is supposed to be SOUND PROOF. Now, anyone who has played on a Saturday or Friday night knows this is a crock of ****.

Went in tonight actually after work. One absolute fish who had no idea. For example, there is a lot of action pre, about 155 in the pot with one all in, three live runners on the flop. Flop is 459 rainbow, Check from the idiot, crazy asian guy bets the pot (155) old bloke is all in for 120 odd, and the idiot smooth calls the 155 OOP with KQ with no re-draws or obvious outs... This on 2/3 of course...

Made a bit of cash, but amazed and somewhat disappointed at the door staff. Anyway, crazy kiwi has shoved a few hands pre with monsters and rags. I make it 15 to go UTG with 9's, and he shoves for 250 and has me covered. Folds to me, I tank and the bloke is poking me in the ribs and is constantly in my ear while I am trying to make a decision... Bloke is allowed to play for the rest of the night (about an hour). I folded by the way, he exposed 810o...

Crazy place, Burswood

Interesting ruling tonight. Button and blinds see the flop. Button bets $20 out of turn on the flop, dealer announces the out of turn. SB bets $5, BB folds, Button is told his options are bet or fold. After the hand, one of the floor staff comes past, and says that's not the correct ruling. Apparently, because BB folded, Button's raise should have stood.

It gets better: If SB had folded and BB had bet, Button's options would've been check or fold.

Thinking of heading out Burswood way within the next month. Are the 10/20 LHE games still going strong?

i'm looking to hit up the burswood casino in perth. i want to play limit hold-em and was wondering what the lowest limit you can play, like $5-$10 limit with blinds $2.50 and $5... or $1-$2 limit with 50c and $1 blinds?

and how is the action there? decent players or just full of fish u cant bluff?

Also, how often do the games run? could u play a full ring game for 6hrs or so?

All of this has been covered already, but to recap:
The only LHE that's ever run is 10-20 (5/10 blinds), occasionally there's a 10-20 Omaha game. NLHE comes with 2/3 blinds and a $200 max buyin or 5/5 blinds with a $500 max buyin, and very occasionally (usually coincidental with a major tournament) 5/5 or 5/10 with a $1000 max buyin or 5/5PLO.

Your question about "fish u cant bluff" belies fundamental misunderstanding of both grammar and what makes a good opponent. You'll get called down fairly light at Burswood — and especially in the limit game.

2/3NLHE, 5/5NLHE and 10-20LHE run from some time in the middle of the day to around four in the morning, seven days a week. If you go in tonight (Tuesday 17/3), there will be a tournament running that will prevent cash games running from about 6:00 until maybe 7:00, and then … St Paddy's day is poker players' Christmas!

It really depends. Busy times, you can wait 2-3 hours for a seat an any of the games. Burswood don't have enough dealers, and even when they do, their policy seems to be that they won't open a table without at least 20 people on the list, so they can run a 15-person list for ages. Which is as frustrating when you're in a game waiting for a player as it is when you're on the list, because they end up spending ages making 3 calls to each player on the list, when many of them gave up waiting and went home hours ago.

hey there,

i know this sounds really odd, but i am trying to get in contact with someone i know only through the poker room at burswood. his name is rob and he has a long blond hair usually tied in a pony tail. as far as i know he only plays at night through to morning but i may be wrong. he also wears geeky tshirts and a cap.

why? i am way too shy to approach him in front of all the other poker players but i am extremely intrigued by him and wish to get in contact with him via email or online chat.

if anyone knows who i am talking about please msg me! *embarrased*

was at the 5/5 on Friday night.... I was surprised by how loose those people are.... young guy who raise and cold call UTG against blind 3bet with Q-2o, grandma who play her 3rd pair like nuts, and never fold her 2nd pair hand, short stacker who play Q-J up front.....

Lost my half stack at a roller coaster flip, but will certainly go back and sit with a full stack

haha, a burswood thread. brings back memories.

im pretty sure i spent more time playing poker there in 2007 than anyone else in the world, and i dont wanna brag but pretty sure i would have made more than anyone in that time too, altho there are a few others who might have made more. dont go in much anymore as i mainly play online and when i go in i dont have patience and dont really take the stakes as seriously as i should and just end up playing stupid.

i have to say even tho the games arent great its nothing like as soft as 3 years ago. i started playing burswood when holem first came in. it was 12 handed lol and the softest game in history. i was a terrible nit and cleared an average of 600 a night at 10/20 limit. but 5/5nl and 10/20 limit is still pretty damn soft compared to any online games and you can turn a pretty decent profit if you're willing to put in long sessions.

also ppl are way overrating how soft the games are at burswood. a few years ago it really was like printing money, but now its a lot tougher.

there are some horrible players at 10/20 and 5/5nl, but that goes for lots of online tables too. its very beatable but its not like any idiot off the street can come in and win. the 10/20 limit i seriously doubt any regular has an actual hourly rate above $40 over a decent sample size ie. over a year of 40+ hrs a week. the rake is insane and most of the old regs are just mediocre as opposed to terrible like they were a few years ago. the only reg at limit who might have an hourly above $40 is asian jeff. im sure anyone who plays limit at burswood a lot knows him. hes literally the only player at burswood who i hate playing pots with, altho we're friends so we check it down headsup anyways lol.

ive seen a heap of flash in the pan players come in and run good for a month or three, think they are invincible, talk about how easy the games are, then run bad and lose the lot and then some. very few actually hang in there and stay on as solid consistent winners.

im not trying to be a buzzkill, i just dont think theres much point in making people who are coming here believe they are in for a money fest with a bunch of complete idiots. the games are still really profitable if you're a good live player but its much more of a slow grind than it used to be.

Hey, I have recently just turn 18 and I want to go play at burswood. But I have never played a live game of poker in my life. So I am not too sure what I am expecting. Also do they run 1/2NLHE games and would I stand a chance just playing TAG poker.

No 1/2, the lowest game is 2/3 NLHE minimum of $50 buy-in and a max of 200.

I would want to make sure you are properly bankrolled for the game, because a lot of people will go down for there first couple shots of live, copped a couple brutal beats or a few coolers and just assume poker cant be beaten, they just chase, its totally not worth it etc...

Playing a decent TAG game is the way to go. Just again, dont tilt or think you have to be a lagtard because someones T4 knocks off your AA on the T4x board...

Go in expecting to be one of the better players at the table assuming you have played a fair few hours online or with friends, but also dont assume you are going to win because you post on 2+2...

Good luck

I used to play 10/20 limit there some years ago, was really soft, made about $50-60/hour on average over 6 months. This was because it was still all hand shuffled so slow as hell. Stopped playing and switched to online where the games weren't as soft but they were much much faster so it was a better hourly.

I am now a dealer as burswood
