Is it true they've scrapped the .25/.5 NLHE and 1/2 PLO tables in favour of 1/1 ROE?

.25/.5 NLHE is gone in favour of 1/1 NLHE. I don't think 1/2 PLO is scrapped as such, it just was always a select group who played it and they may not be any more. 1/1 ROE has always been there.

Really? I've never seen ROE over the past 3 years or so but I'm not a reg. Glad to hear .25/.50 is scrapped, the yellow and purple chips were lame.

Like everything it requires players to run. Most people are there to grind NLHE

The PLO games were scrapped for two reasons; the player pool was limited and it was damaging the player pool economy I.e there were players who were burning through significant amounts of money that would then result in them avoiding the casino and overal being less profitable to the casino.

FYI my source was from the cardroom manager at the time and in a nut shell the games (1-2 PLO) were harmful to the player pool. Whereas 1-1 seems more sustainable.

I've played down Gala for a few years now but usually stay over at the Ibis next door for the weekend and put in a monster grind but only make the trip every so often.

I wonder if Wallie has finished candy crush yet...

Ah interesting, didn't realise it had been knocked on the head (because I don't play cash). The cardroom manager hasn't changed, it's still Serj

I think they will still run it if theres big demand but they try to avoid the game as its bad for the house and the player pool. I've seen it run on the odd occassion but rarely

Most games are £1-£1 NLHE 10% to £6, 40 min 200 max (might be biggest stack max, not sure). There's the odd bit of £1-£2 and PLO/ROE and the £2-£5 list fills but doesn't fire.

Games seem to sit pretty deep for the most part with a few roulette punters sitting with £40. The later the night goes, the deeper it'll sit and there's the odd £1k+ pot at 1-1.

Introduction
This rant was inspired by a visit to the 'Rainbow Casino' in Bristol. However, there are certainly other poker rooms guilty of the below. Having been around the block a little bit with respect to live poker, I feel that I'm qualified enough to make the suggestions below!

Productive Rant
1. Don't change cash for chips at the table
(a) The floor should act as a runner and the player should play behind (or not at all) whilst the runner gets the chips
(b) It wastes time
(c) It loses the casino money in raked games (the more hands you deal, the more money you make!)
(d) It annoys regs

2. If you must change cash for chips at the table, don't call the floor on a walkie talkie every time to double check
(a) Trust the dealer to do his job.
(b) The money you lose through human error will be less than the money you lose through wasted time
(c) See points (b) to (d) in question 1

3. Don't shuffle the cards before putting the cards into an automatic shuffler
(a) It's unnecessary
(b) See points (b) to (d) in question 1

4. Try and get the dealers to calculate the pot and hence the rake as the pot is being played
(a) It's not hard
(b) See points (b) to (d) in question 1

5. Don't waste time arranging the pot in a nice order during the hand, or at the end of the hand when it needs shipping
(a) Bulldoze is towards the winner
(b) See points (b) to (d) in question 1

End state
1. More profit
2. More tips
3. Happier customers

Summary
This is aimed more at the floor than the dealers and it's supposed to be constructive rather than a rant. There are many great poker rooms in the UK (including Bristol) that could be even better!

Yeah they never seem to push the pot to you, you never know if they've finished with the rake or what

Rainbow has many inexperienced dealers (mainly due to trouble retaining staff) so I don't think #4 is realistic and, as an extension, #5 (as they organise the pot to count for rake) but do you want me to forward this to the cardroom manager?
