Hopefully they can deal with the checks. If its anything like Vegas there will be people around offering cash for online funds also.

Hey Stan I was wondering if there is any chance the borgata would change the Bad Beat to some type of qualifying tournament. Maybe something like you have to log X amount of hours in X amount of months and you get entered into a free roll touranment. I think most players would rather be entered in a 350k free roll a few times a year rather then the BBJ.
I was gonna go to the back cage at borgata and ask to speak to someone about this, but I am pretty sure they would just blow me off. IMO this is a MUCH better system to get people to log more hours in your casino.

Unfortunately A.C does not allow us to take money from the BBJP to support other marketing efforts. Unlike Tunica, where i worked a few years, i was able to take a % of the BBJP dollar and use it for free rolls and other cash giveaways. I see other casinos in A.C doing the free roll thing and it's coming from there operating budgets. The Borgata will contiune the Thursday cash giveaway in July. This also will be a direct charge to the operating budget. I chose the cash giveaways as my marketing choice only because i want everyone to have a fair chance at winning the cash, not just the good tournament players.

That sucks they don't allow you to use it for a free roll. I would imagine something like a 500k free roll would attract some SERIOUS attention and the room would see a considerable increase in traffic. O well, I guess I have to settle with putting up 500 tomorrow for the deep stack. I am on a seriously F'd up schedule I guess I'll heaad to the borg in an hour, play cash untill 10am then play the tournie on no sleep.

$500K is a lot of money. Yes the traffic would increase. But the question is would it be enough to cover the cost. And that number would be $2million. Yes $2million. The problem is for every dollar the poker room makes, we make a 25 cent profit. For the poker room just to break even on the $500K that we would spend on the free roll, we would need to increase the revenue by $2million. A lotta cheese.

Well im not sure you understood what I meant, I didnt mean for the borgata to pony up 500k, I meant instead of running a BBJ, just take 1 dollar out of every pot and put that towards the free roll tournament. Then have some type of requirment to get into the free roll like a certain amount of hours at the table. But I guess AC doesnt allow that. Juudging how fast the BBJ goes up Im sure you could put out three 500k free rolls a year. I think that would be a much bigger attaction to most players then the BBJ.

A table at the center of the poker room erupts when the 9 of spades falls on the river creating a bad beat worth $222,355.

"I didn't even know what was happening," said Lynn Yacyk (Farmingdale, NJ), "everybody started screaming and the dealer told me I won the bad beat."

Yacyk gets her last $83 all-in with the 7 and 8 eight of spades for the low end of a flopped straight on a board of [9d Js 10s]. Roland Lucas (Beachwood, NJ) tables the king-queen of spades for the higher straight as both have straight flush draws.

When the 9 of spades hits the river Yacyk is the big loser, or in this case the big winner as she wins $88,942 (40%) for the second best hand.

"I'm so excited, Borgata is my favorite poker room!" she shrieks.

Lucas is also a winner, collecting $44,471 (20%) for providing the bad beat and the remaining 7 players in the hand split the final 40% to each win $12,706.

Two player who just sat at the table are at opposite ends of the spectrum of the celebration.

The first was playing only his second hand at the table with his last $100 and thrilled to be sharing in the bad beat. The second man opted not to post his big blind and wait and for the deal to come around the table. Because he wasn't in the hand he doesn't collect any of the payout.

The unidentified man said, "If I play, they don't win."

Keep the BBJ warm for me. Funny, a week or two ago I assumed it would hit so I didn't get my hopes up it would be this big as next weekend approaches. My luck, it'll hit Saturday night, or even worse, as i sit and wait to post or at the next table over once I'm playing. (Who am I kidding, will anyone ever wait to post with the BBJ this large?)

Matt
self-QFT. Yes, if he was dealt in the cards wouldn't fall that way, but still, I would seriously tilt if I was him.

I'll be honest I probably wouldn't give him any money. Maybe $100 if I was one of the two big winners.

Yeah, I don't know what the "right thing" to do in that situation would be. It's true that if he does post, the hand never plays out that way though. Maybe like $600 from the winner and $50 from the other 8 players so he gets a grand or something? I don't know....

That's totally different than the guy that's playing for 8 hours, gets up for 3 mins to pee and misses two hands...and the BBJ hits. In that case, I'd be in favor of working something out where he/she would get close to full share. 3K from winner, 1.5 K from the "beater" $400 from the rest?

Can anyone tell me how many runners the second chance tournies are getting at the Borgata Summer Open? I see number of entrants from Ruler of the East for the main tournies but I want to know about the structure and amount of entrants for the second chance tournies. Anyone have any idea?

I was at that BBJ table when it hit. I was sitting to the left of the lady who got it in on the turn with the low straight and drawing dead to the case 9s. The dealer just snapped off the river without much thought. and it took about 5 sec for us to realize what just happened. craziness insued.

as for the new guy. well, as soon as I sat down, a guy to my left got up and the seat was empty for a while, then the new guy showed up and waited two hands (or so) to post the BB. yes, he could have posted. yes, he could have not showed up in the first place. hard to say. But he was taken care of. I know some gave more than others but he made out quite well for literally doing nothing.

i came down to AC on a whim with my friend. I got a chance to play in the 4-8 HOSE game (first time playing stud or studH/L) for about an hr or two before it broke. Fun game and I wish it the best of luck. I think i met Stan, but I didn't introduce myself at the table (next time). Afterwards, I was looking for another limit game but decided on to just sit in this 1/2 NL for my last hr and 15 min later... BOOM... BBJ. It took a couple hrs to get the $. Took the bundles and hit the craps table for an hr and then made the drive back to philly.

Great night and looking forward to moving up limits.

I was driving in on the expressway on my way to work. enjoyin the nice weather and listening to the radio. Just trying to relax before coming to work. I get just past exit 7 and a man is standing near the bushes on the edge of the highway peeing. Yes peeing right there for everyone to see. Why he couldn't just take four more steps into the woods is beyond me.
