The $25/50 NLHE/PLO game...How many were sitting at that table? Was curious to see if it was a full ring game or shorthanded.

Went to borgata saturday night to play 1-2NL, went to get my chips and asked for $250... the guy at the cage said "I can't give you $250".... i said "can i get $260?" he replied "yes" and gave it to me... kinda out of shock i didn't ask anything just thinking in my head why can't i have $250.

Is this really true that they can't give $250 or was he pulling my leg?

I believe I was told the same thing the second time I ever played at the B. It would make sense for it to be in 20 dollar increments I guess. I always just pick up 2 or 3 even when I get my initial buy in though.

You have to get in increments of $20. Why? 20 chips. They must fill up an entire 1/5 of a rack. It is pretty weird. I usually buy 100, 200, or 300 so it doesn't matter. But once I tried to buy some random amount and they wouldn't give it to me.

If you really want $250, buy $260 and sell $10.

Presumably they have this policy either to speed things up or so that the cameras can always see exactly how much is being bought.

really annoying policy, not because I want to buy $250 (I have no problem with this policy from a personal purchasing standpoint), but because whenever people by $60 or $80 of chips, they show up at the table with 4 stacks of $1 chips, and if I get in a pot with these people my stacks get out of control... which is particularly bad for me because I got stupid hands and knock my stacks over constantly... (to give some idea of how bad my hands are, I never stack higher than 10 chips, and prefer stacks of 5 despite it making me look like a huge fish...)

They can't sell anything other than full sticks no matter what denomination you are buying. This is a good thing for the casino and the players IMO.

I always thought it was a gaming regulation and not a Borgata specific policy but I could be wrong.

It's not a CCC rule. Might be Borgata specific. Other rooms will sell you chips in quantities of less than 20.

I can see why they might have the rule, but I always try to buy the white chips from the "$60 white chip buy in" people because they are almost always terrible at putting out any sort of bet over $2.

Selling in stacks of 20 also speeds up the process at the window, I vaguely recall years ago they would sell any amount and changed it to stacks of 20 at some point, I think it's a Borgata thing.

They will sell you any amount of chips $100 and greater.

It's not a regulation as other casinos will sell you in less than full stacks.

It's true, and a good thing when there's 20 people in line. It moves much quicker when they're passing stacks around and not having to hand count.

Can you take out from Metropolitan or do you have to be seated? During normal hours, when I want to eat, I'll pay $10 comp dollars for Amphora. However, when I was there on Saturday, I didn't get out of there until 1 AM. I wanted some food but didn't want to wait to be served. Are Metro and Fatburger the only places open at that ungodly hour?

Never played at the Borgata before but will be coming up for a night or 2 starting tomorrow. Any tips or rules I should know about? Also how do you clock in and out?

Depends on what you play. If you play high stakes 5/10+ NL or 20/40+ Limit, go in the back left area when you get to the poker room and everything is handled there. If you play lower, go to the cashier to buy your chips (Increments of $20) and ask a floor person for a seat.

To clock out, go to the desk that is immediately to your right as you walk in in the lobby area and left as you leave. You can also ask any floor person.

Just ask for 200 in red, and two green chips. If you verbalize then you can buy what you want.

But reds/whites are always going to be sold in 20 chip increments.

I also found the fact that I could only buy in $20 increments (and those were in whites) a little inconvenient. Then I realized I could just buy hundred increments and pocket some reds.

Really? This will help me if so. I always prefer to have add-on chips in big denoms as to not make dealer change out.

Anything over red chips can be bought for whatever number you want. I mean if they required you too buy a full stack of green, that would be $500, and really only 5/10NL is a regular green chip game.

Back in my 1/2 days I used to buy in for 300 in red, and have either black or green chips that I colored up from previous sessions in my pocket too add on too my stack too keep it full/larger stack than anyone else at the table.

I dont know if they changed their policy, but they never would give me less than a full stack of green.

I've had the same problem trying to buy $200 red and $100 green. They wouldn't give me the green at the cage. Guess I didn't know the secret hand sign.
