I ask because I've taken to using a gold coin as my card protector and I'm somewhat curious if I'd be forced to bet it at its face value. I assume coins don't count but I do remember seeing half dollars in the rack downstairs. There was a thread here a couple years ago about someone invoking the cash plays rule and forcing their opponent to put in a stack of silver dollars (I don't remember where that happened). I'm mostly just curious as I use a foreign coin to sidestep the whole issue (I can't remember the last time I was all-in anyway).
coins in the rack downstairs were for ow limit stud games iirc.
In no limit, cash doesnt play,so the coin doesnt play of course.
In limit, which is what u play (right?), im not 100% sure but i would say it doesnt. But, even if it did play, if the face value of the coin(s) is less than $5, it doesnt play anyway.
If you happen to have a US coin/coins with face value over $5, and some douche tries to make you put them in (and floor enforces it), then replace the coins with some pocket cash and put the cash in.
Im pretty sure though that coins dont play because technucally the dealer is supposed to convert the 'cash' to chips and i dont think theyre going to put coins in the drop box.
Even if you never find out the rule for sure, you still wont be putting your coin at risk if you keep using it.
(i understand ur using teh foreign coin)
