I remember this hand was crazy for 2 reasons, the $500 chip taken and the hand itself: Flop 993. Chip Palmer (CP) has 33. CP bets pot, Other Guy (OG) raise pot, CP re-pots and OG calls. Turn is a 9 and CP bets pot, OG all-in and CP calls his last ~$1300.

OG flips the 9 and CP pushes his 1 1/2 racks of red forward, palms the purple chip, and walks away real quick.

Borgata handled it well, IMO. The floor asked the rest of the players to confirm what happened, they checked tapes, security caught the guy and about 45 min to an hour later they came over and paid OG $500 in cash. Floor said the player gave in and gave the chip back. The rest of us were asked to fill out incident reports on what we saw. Floor also gave the table free time for helping out.

I just glanced at this post and thought Chip Palmer was some new pro that I hadn't heard of. Pretty funny.

Also, great thread.

TAB/Stan, I asked this before but you must have missed it.

Any chance of any Omaha tourneys? It's so disappointing (to me at least) to run to read the listing of events for things like the Borgata Poker Open and see almost entirely NLHE events.

We have a PLO and Omaha H/L Limit in the Summer Open schedule. Are you asking about Omaha High Only?

Wow, I just re-read my post and realized what you meant. I would probably wonder who the hell Chip Palmer was too!

I usually play 5/10 LHE once a month on Saturdays (only becuase that seems to be the only time anything between 3/6 and 10/20 runs).

I have some comped room offers for Sunday-Thursday but never get to use them. I am thinking of attempting to stay one night and trying a 2/4LHE drunk all-nighter. I can drink all night while playing and then I can go upstairs to sleep it off.

The question is, is there a 2/4 game that goes all night during the week?

Would you/could you run an Omaha SnG if enough people signed up? I'd assume the starting chip stacks, and blind levels need to be determined to make the sng run right.

any possible way we can get some 1/2 plo going or is that not an option?

Also more omaha tournaments would be great.

There's an excellent article in this month's Cardplayer about how 1/2PLO is tough to run because of all the white chips that need to be kept track of as the bets go in. The author proposed a solution of making it a red chip game after the flop, or something similar. Sounds like a nightmare, imo.

FWIW I loved the PLO Tournament that was a part of the winter open - it was a good structure for a one day event (deep but not so deep that it took forever).

It was also probably the most pleasant tournament I've ever played - everyone was just genuinely happy to get to play the game.

keeping track of the pot size is easy imo. not a good reason not to run it. any competent dealer should always know what's in there.

The best way I've seen it done requires uniform chips. The pot is kept in neat stacks in the middle, and not in a jumble. Whenever anyone bets "pot", they are able to quickly match stacks with the middle. Super easy.

Last PLO game I played was 5/10 at the Borg, and the dealer cost me $1000 by undercounting the pot, which was a big mess of black, green, and red chips. Long story short, my opponent's pot sized reraise was smaller on the flop, leaving us more behind, and therefore my opponent was able to find a fold where he'd otherwise have been priced in . . . .

Getting back to the point, live PLO works easiest if your chip denominations are uniform and at least the size of the BB. Just my $0.02.

this is at least as much your fault as it is the dealer's. you were in the hand. you should also be keeping track of the pot. it's really not difficult at all to keep track of the bets as they go in and add them up.
the players and dealer should always know what's in the pot. figuring it out when someone goes to make a bet is sub optimal for several reasons

Absolutely true. As a professional, I realize this of course.

However, if you want to attract casual players to the game, it's a huge issue that needs to be addressed. If you want to just sit around and play guys like me, then let's keep it the way it is. . . but I think we both agree that we want to be playing the drunk tourist, and not just each other.
