It's all the time now, isn't it? When they first did it, it was only while the big promos were on.

Hi, any advise appreciated.

Wife hit the $1,000 high hand. What is the appropriate tip to the dealer? I think she tipped too much, but I could be wrong.
Whatever she tipped is appropriate for her.

Tipping is a 'delicate' subject here at 2+2. There is/was a separate thread about it because it often derails threads.

Short answer: For $1000, I think $25 - $100 is appropriate.

Longer version: I'm a consistent, but conservative tipper. Min $1 per pot, even when winning the blinds, but nothing on chops. A bigger pot, more than $1, but I top out at $5 when I win at least a couple hundred. The HH promo money was collected from players. It's not coming from the casino, or their staff. Most of the players I noticed collecting HHs tipped the dealer $25 on $250/$500.

It's been an extra $2 for a while. I don't recall it going on/off in the past.

She tipped $100, I really feel that is over-tipping.

I usually tip 30 on 300, so it's fine.

10% of the high hand amount is pretty standard for me (and other players) at most places I've played that run decent high hands. Perhaps more, if it's a favorite dealer or something like that.

I've even seen players tell a dealer they'd split it with them if they hit it. Rare, but I've seen it ... and I've also seen players say that and then NOT do it when they hit it! Lol

$100 is on the high side of what is appropriate meaning if someone gave me $100 after winning a $1,000 jackpot I would be super appreciative but not hear a voice in the back of my head go "wow, that was way too much."

If I dealt it I would hope for between $40 and $100. Any more would be gravy, any less and I would be a little bummed.

If I won it I would probably tip $75, maybe more if it was a dealer I really liked.

Played 5/10 all weekend but when I tried to get an egg sandwich was told I had zero comp dollars. Spoke to the poker room & they said that I had $100 poker comps and would I like them transferred as main comps? They said the poker room was it's own separate "arm" of the company & that this step was necessary. So basically I'm confused, why does this structure exists and are there any perks of having poker comps vs casino comps?

According to MGM, it’s an opportunity for them to please and delight you.

According to every other person on the planet, it’s some combination of shitty IT systems and a purposeful decision to make the process as unpleasant as possible so maybe they get to keep that money as a paper liability for as long as possible, maybe forever, or maybe you transfer them and never use them and they expire, meaning they now owe you nothing.

When I play in Vegas MGM rooms, I have to remember to have the "poker comps" printed towards the end of the trip in order to use them before I leave. I don't always remember.

Dinesh speaks the truth.

All of this.
I remember when National Harbor opened the poker manager or whatever was on 2p2 telling us how this moronic system gives them a better opportunity to provide customer service. Classic stuff.

Actually my wife loves the system. She is not playing poker for the buck fifty in poker comps. She has plenty of comps from her slot play. Being a separate system ‘protects’ her theo on slots. The systems could crosstalk but afaik and ‘confirmed’ by one of her hosts, the systems do not cross talk for slot theo.
