It just seems to me that they can (at least for their website), just effectively replace the server with an old backup (at least for the static text).
But.... I guess it must be far more complicated than that.
I just don't see how.

I guess all their website & DB backups could also be on the VMs managed by esxi (which was compromised).... which would really suck.
What a fecal-show!

I was just speculating that maybe MGM just backed up their computer to (essentially) another part of that same computer.
But you are right.... I need to find a nerdier forum for this kind of discussion.

I can't stop shaking my head at the magnitude of this screw up.....

I was staying here both when MGM first took over, and when they switched to their computer system. Both times, without being "hacked", were a disaster (still is years later).

Yep.

I remember when they switched over to MGMs system in 2021 they had to shut down to do so for a day or two. Why the didn't do this when they were shut down for 5-6 months for covid is beyond me.

It looks like you can book online now...
So I guess that's progress.
Now I can go back to complaining about the rates!

It’s open, all MGM poker rooms are off the Bravo app for now in the wake of the hack. But the room itself is operating normally.

mgm will destroy cosmo in vegas as well.
It's not just poker they lost a lot of their casino market share in AC since the MGM bean counter takeover.

Are they bean counters or nepo idiots? I would think bean counters would wield an oligopoly of that size effectively, instead they are paralyzed by a hack and losing market share.

Slowly, so I wouldn't call it "racking up" except maybe on higher-limit machines, but yes. Slot (and especially video poker, which take twice as much in to get the same) reward rates are geared toward the people who'll sit for hours.

Nope bean counters cheap out on everything including IT security.

Bean counters have no poker cage at night thinking they're saving 200-300 dollars a day not realizing how many less tables they have running because of it.

Now are some nepo bean counters? I'm sure they exist.

I meant more is it currently working with the hack and all that. I dabble in slots, don’t sit for hours playing em

Ah, gotcha. That I dunno. But I'd imagine that if the machines can work, so can reward earning, even if maybe it's not immediately updated to the general Mlife system. If the slot systems weren't isolated from the outside, they'd be hacked all the time.

But, as I said, the rewards for slot play aren't meant for those of us who merely dabble. I don't bother putting my card in when I sit at video poker for ten minutes or whatever, both because I'll forget to take my card back out when I leave and because I won't actually earn anything for it.

I sometimes like to go from machine to machine and bonus hunt. Maybe video poker too. Now roulette I could play for a while

The fall mini series is now scheduled for November 14-19. I think it's the same schedule they were supposed to have originally. It says it on borgatapoker twitter for anyone wondering.

I guess this is a good sign.

Looks to be the same schedule as the previous, just a change of dates.

I will actually be down there on Sunday the 12th to see Sebastian Maniscalco, I might have to extend my stay for the opening event.

Anyone else got a crazy room rate for Tuesday the 14th? I usually get Sunday-Thursday comped but my Tuesday rate is $189. Sucks, because last time I could of stayed for free. Now looking at a $200/night room just to play.
