I went back a few pages and read how the comped rooms for poker players are pretty atrocious. I've noticed that in the past too: I used to go with a buddy once a year on a trip, but myself 4-5 other times just to play poker. With my buddy, we would play the same exact table games (e.g. same limits, etc.) So overall I was putting in much more time at the casino than him, as my poker trips were always playing 2/5 for at least 10 hours on top of the table games with him. Somehow, he ALWAYS had better room rates than me.
I'm coming again this weekend with my comped room. My question is: should I even give my card in at poker, or do I want them to keep thinking I just play table games? It seems crazy to me that I'd be better off, but my experience pre-COVID was that my friend who never played poker got better rates than me, even though we put the same time in at other table games.
I think it's all about play enough poker to get the rooms, don't think simply just playing poker is going to get your offers pulled.
You have to be very careful about when you swipe your card. I would aim to be playing 10 hours a day, if I am going to swipe. The "gaming day" is from 6am to 5:59am the next morning. If you can log 10 hours between those windows, go for it, it will likely improve your offers, especially if you're playing 2/5 and not 1/3.
Then make sure to not use your card when you're not playing. Even using your comps at Bread and Butter and not playing could screw everything up.
