Can someone tell me if they are going to use that horrible corner of the casino like they did back in April for the big open tourney this Sept? I want to play the Omaha8 tourney on September 4th but only if its in the poker room.

No, the Sept & Jan poker open tourneys are always held in the convention center on the opposite side of casino near the garage parking.

I've seen the OE and HORSE tournaments played in the poker room even when the rest of the series is in the convention center because not having shufflers for stud is the worst. I've also seen them play in the convention center so I would try to call and find out but the person you talk to me not know the answer. Your best bet is to message Tab on twitter.

The convention center is really nice and big. If the tournament is up there it will have it's own section so I suggest playing it no matter what. We finally got 2 mixed game tournaments in one series and we need the numbers up if we want this to continue.

Slot area directly in front of the poker room is now empty....the sportsbook-to-be, I'm assuming?

I understand and want to play in them but back in April was a joke. I am not driving two hours and staying 3 nights to be in a corner with crap tables like sardines. Especially when 70% of the poker room was empty.

I like being proven right. Said that would happen when they first said they would open up sports gambling. The room is too small for horse racing and sports book. Just wondering what are they going to do with the slots. Each machine makes more money in a day than 97% of the population on a horrible day!

Not those machines. They are penny machines that rarely get played.

How many people a day drop 100 in those things? Most people will go from max bet to half max. Bet most of the machines get about 300 a day and 1000+ on the weekends

Yes...slots in general, and penny slots in general (especially smoking penny slots?). That area in between the poker room and Bobby Flay was nearly always deserted or close to it. I'd say half a dozen people is the most I ever saw there, and hardly ever that. At times when you could hardly get a seat over next to Wolfgang's or Bread & Butter. It definitely had to top the list for areas that weren't paying for themselves.

By Bobby Flay those are nickel slots to I think $5 horrible spot. But in between signature room and poker room all penny slots. Trust me, they get way more play than you think.

Lots of people who play hit and run. They play real quick then take off. Or they're waiting for people playing the horses or in the poker room mostly. But lots of people who come in from the surface lot always seem to put in a few bucks and then make their way to the rest of the casino. So they are never there for very long.

I watched that happen many times as I take a break from poker. And drop in a couple of bills myself. I like the horse one.

I’ve played in every Borgata open. The September open and winter open are both played in the upstairs event center. Sometimes mixed games events during these opens are played in the poker room but the signature room is either closed or used for something else during these opens.

It is unfortunate that the tier points are only updated on the website every few weeks.

Played enough hours last week to clear my bonus/gift. Comp dollars updated, tier points did not.

Spoke to poker room guy today, he said someone else does the updating for them, and it's not really scheduled.

He did assure me that because the comp dollars were added, they will be able to make good on the offer (ends 9/16) even if tier points are not updated by then. I have my doubts, but apparently no recourse if they don't.

The "just trust us" method of accounting sucks, but I haven't yet played a session for which the TCs didn't turn up eventually, and it's been six months since anything took more than two weeks. I suspect they make an extra effort to be sure everything's credited when an offer is closing or the earning year is ending. My guess would be that TCs earned since last Thursday will show up next week.

Thanks. Appreciate it. I don't deserve what they offered, but since they offered now I feel entitled. I think that's some kind of OMC achievement (or indicator). I made the mistake of calling mlife, to get transfered to Borgata, to get transferred to their mlife desk which doesn't answer and sends back to Borgata main (x3) and finally to someone who would listen, but couldn't provide answers.

Good to talk to the poker room guy, even if i wasn't feeling 100% that it was true.

Unless things have changed in the last year, the poker desk can't see Tier Credits and the Mlife desk can't see poker play. So it doesn't matter who you talk to.

Borgata gives $1.50 per hour at the 1/2 table. With 75 credits per comp dollar, I can figure out how many points I should get.

The bonus offer is reaching a certain point total that is below the threshold for maintaining current status level, and getting bonus points to reach that required level. Quite generous in my case. YMMV.

i'm sure I'll keep checking daily, and if not updated in a week, I'll make another call. The poker room doesn't seem to be able to 'force' an update, but if they are aware that there is a deadline (from people inquiring) maybe they can encourage an update prior.

Huh...wonder if that's to be ongoing, or just a "hey, while there's this big empty space here..."

I wouldn't think being out on the floor would be popular with the players, but it boosts the visibility of poker and the Open.
