You know, you posted this once before. I believed you. I went into racebook and asked if I could have a free drink per day. Mentioned I had a black card just in case that was the requirement. The bartender laughed at me and said no. I said "But Duvdar said..." and she slapped me. (that last part didn't happen)

Did I get screwed, or are you citing an out-of-date rule?

I have concerns about the new 25-25 PLO game that's being spread.

The new structure is basically an engineered private game.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here or not but there is a new 25-25 placard that has the following rules:

8 seat Max
10,000 minimum buy in
No cap

I can understand the desire to keep short stackers out of a game but requiring a 400BB minimum buy in is ridiculous.

In order for PLO to grow and for consistent games to be built around it you're going to need to provide a structure for players to progress. Making it that after 5-10 the only game that will be spread has a 10k minimum buy in is short-sighted.

Is there any way we can at least get this moved down to 5K? That's still a higher minimum than I've ever seen in any casino on the East Coast (200BB).

Curious as to management's thoughts.

Thanks

I think the way it works, you buy a ticket for a dollar or two, mAke a minimal
Bet on a horse, and you get a ticket from the cashier which entitles
You to one free quality drink

I thought I could get a drink ticket with every bet, not one per day, so I thought he was talking about something different. Can you confirm?

Yes, you can get a drink ticket with every $2 bet.

If you're a black card holder you also get the race book for free, when you pick that up you can get a drink ticket as well.

Thanks for all the info. That last part is something I did not know, and will exploit. I can't get Macallan at 2/5, but I can at race book.

Hi guys, I'm planning to come down to AC for the WPT series and would like to know if there's any kind of promotional discount that either the WPT or Borgata offered to guest of their hotel?

I would like to know how many hour do I have to put in at the table to get "poker rate" room? Is it better than the discount that WPT offered through their website?

thanks in advance.

From the FAQ in the first post of this thread:

There's no poker rate for hotel rooms. Log a modest amount of play and discounted rates will be available. Generally it's play first & get offers for next time. There's no fixed "do xyz and get a free room," the comp system takes a variety of factors into account, but Sunday–Thursday and Sunday–Friday comp room offers aren't too difficult to reach.

In addition for special tournaments like the WPT events, they do tournament rates if you are going to play in any of the events.

Hey guys,

I am a NLHE cash game player, and was thinking about staying at the Borgata during the Borgata Poker Open in Sept. Does anyone know if the cash games are noticeably softer during these tournaments, specifically during the weekdays (I am already aware that the weekends are often fishier)? In particular, does anyone know if the 5/10 games are noticeably fishier during the weedays? Is 10/25 likely to run throughout the tournament?

Based on the schedule at http://www.theborgata.com/casino/pok...oker-open-2014 I am considering staying from Sept 5 - Sept 14. This period of time is just before the WPT Championship Event (which does not seem to overlap with any weekends really). Despite that fact, will this likely be a good week for 5/10 and 10/25?

Sorry if these are obvious questions - I don't play that much nowadays.
Thank you for any insight you guys have!

Multiple 5/10 games will be running during WPT based on what I remember from past years. Can't speak to quality of games but more run during series than usual for that time of year. 10/25 would seem likely on those weekends.

Also, whoever said don't use your parking if you didn't play that day, they were right. Played a 6 hour session until 6 AM so it counts toward Tuesday and checked out this morning and use my parking pass. Comps gone. I usually log around this much per session and last week a 6hour session restored my free rooms. Same session length with hotel stay meant I lose them somehow. So very weird.

The friday isn't so easy to get if you play 1-2 NL

I can't speak for management, but it am not the least bit surprised of the policy, and think the chances of it being modified are ZERO.

High stakes poker played in casinos are inherently semi-private.

As a 5/10 regular I will tell you this. Most times during the week you get one 5/10 table and all of us play together so much we could name each others kids, wifes, lol. During tournaments you probably get a 2nd game going during the week and on weekends year round is about 3 or 4 games. Then it gets good. But most 5/10 players are grinders who play for their income. You get the occasional player who has not idea what they are doing and throwing money around but that is rare. You can make more money at 2/5 trust me

And 10/25 is rare except on weekends.

I guess what I want to know is for those of you who use the the WPT promotional discount was it cheaper than what Borgata are charging?

No. If you get even just discounted rooms for play, they are less than the WPT rates. Sun-Thurs is $59 when I don't have free comps. Fri is anywhere from $109-$129 .

Hey thanks for the info. Was this just for standard room, and did you have to put alot of hours in at the table. I play in Event I in April and we didn't bag until 3AM, days two was the same. Tournament took so much out of me that I didn't feel like I have the confidence to put in long session at cash game.

I would like to know all of this stuff now so I can plan and budget myself in September.

thank you.
